It’s not about Steve’s skin color. It’s about Steve’s character that he became Captain America. I find it interesting how they treat Bucky like a total villain for being imprisoned and brainwashed for 70 years but Lamar is treated completely differently despite being imprisoned by the government for 30 years and doing missions for the US government. Suddenly having a character in heavy armor when they are known to be a mage like character breaks the established archetype thus breaking the character, and the biggest question that arises from this is why does her character type suddenly change from wearing armor to the one that Tolkien wrote and we saw in the movies?? Why does she not wear armor and fight like that any more?? The drastic contrast between the two natures and lifestyles is why it messes up the storytelling. But these writers are complete hacks so it's not surprising that they don't understand why their storytelling is bad. It breaks the story's consistency resulting in the viewer to withdraw from immersion. If your story has the majority of the audience withdrawn to question narrative decisions, you're not writing a good story.
