Canada
Registrace 25. 03. 2021
The Best Family Outdoor Show is a vlog about our outdoor focused activities that we do as a family. Join us in our outdoor adventures around the world where we hike, fish, swim, eat, and play games, tourist attractions and see cool stuff that we run into.
You will notice there is a lot of Canadian Rocky Mountain Footage from our RV Trips. In those of type videos, we explore different campsites and outdoor activities you can do around Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario. We try to give you an idea of how the area looks and feels.
In additional to the Outdoor videos, I also have lots of RV How-to and RV Maintenance videos. These are super helpful for anyone. My tutorial videos will save you time and money.
Apart from Local Canada Stuff, we will show footage of our family vacations also. Our family of 3 kids have aged an is now 'kinda' self sufficient. We can finally fly and travel to places with lesser pain on Mom and Dad - mainly Dad.
I hope you enjoy the videos!

What's up folks,
I had some comments that I have never showed how to refill fresh water on an RV fully in a video before. I have previously just explained how you would do it. So to give my viewers a better understanding on how to dump and refill your RV, I made a full video of me just the whole shebang of dumping tanks and refilling fresh water including a segment of me actually filling the water.
In this video, we have just finished a quick RV trip with a Majestic 23A Ford E-350 5.4L V8 to Two Jack Lake (Main Site). On the way out leaving the camp site, I videoed myself doing the whole process. Generally speaking, 90% of the dumping process is standard world wide across all RVs, so this video will apply to ALL makes and models. The goal is to show you a complete visual of the process so that when you arrive at a RV Dump station you know what to do.
In this video, I show you a complete 100% visual tutorial from Driving into a Dump site, parking the RV, hooking up the sewer hose, dumping the black/grey tanks, to refilling water and driving away.
Pro tip - Be slow and steady and be sure not to whip or flick things around.
Here is some terminology that you will need to familiarize yourself with when doing an RV trip Canada or USA.
Fresh Water Tank - Water that come out of your taps
Potable Water - Water that you can drink or fill in your RV.
Non-potable Water - Water you can use for cleaning. If you are going to drink it, you need to boil it first.
Grey Water Tank - Sinks and Shower Drains
Black Water Tank - Toilet Water Only
Black Water Rinse - The water and hose here is not for drinking, it is for rinsing your sewer pipe, DON'T USE IT FOR DRINKING OR FILLING
RV Dump Station - Place where you dump your sewer and refill water (if available). Some are free and most are not. Most popular main campsites will have an RV dump station on site that is included with your camping stay fee. So fill and empty on the way in then fill and empty again on the way out since it is included in your camp site fee.
Remember, it is not a hard process and it is relatively clean if you do it right. Happy RVing folks!

Does your truck equipped with tow/haul mode?
Yes it is equipped with the standard tow/haul mode. On this model, when you start the engine, the default is that the Tow/Haul Mode turns on. You will need to manually turn it off you want it disabled. Since I normally drive this in the mountains, and where I live is pretty hilly, I almost always have it on when I drive. I do find it the ride to be smoother with Tow/Haul mode off, when I am in the city driving around at slow speeds.
Also wanted to note, that the Tow/Haul mode helps with both climbing hills and descending downhill by gearing down.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow you still have to select gears even you’re in Tow/haul when descending?
@@jhonnelelegaspi7125 You don't normally have to select gears manually with Tow Haul Mode. From what I can tell by observation from driving is that it gears down more aggressively automatically when descending with tow/haul enabled. To elaborate a little more... I only gear down for extended long downhill runs so I don't end up riding my breaks as hard. For example, I do gear down to 3rd gear in some instances - Rogers Pass and Coquihalla. Those have extended downhill runs. Never really had to gear down to 2nd before. So to answer your question - No you don't have to select gears manually, but the option is there for you when you need to use it. I don't usually tow with my RV, but if I was to tow something, I would be more included to gear down manually on down hills. I hope that helps.
do we can use navigo for all transportation in paris
You buy the pass based on 'Zones'... Zones 1-3 allow you to travel within the city of Paris which is within the limits marked in yellow on the map. With zones 4-5, you will have access to Greater Paris region. You can go to Disneyland Paris and Versailles and its Chateau along with the Paris Airport. So yes, with the right level of Pass access you can get to most of Paris. I hope that helps.
That is a breaker not a fuse
That is 100% correct👍 Didn't realize I was saying fuse until rewatching it just now. I did put the description and title correctly though. Circuit breakers trip, fuses need to be replaced when blown.
I installed a camera on my 5th wheel, tow vehicle was a dodge ram, couldn't get a signal? The fix was to turn my lights on in the truck, take them out of "Automatic" and that provided the power to the factory pre-wired setup in the RV camper. So, it was plug in play after all :)
Thank you for sharing. I am sure this is going to help a bunch of poor suffering souls out there. 👍
Great explanation 👌
Thank you. Glad it made sense! 👍

Beautiful wedding but wondering why no family members have commented.
Most of my family doesn't watch this channel, which is okay. We haven't really relied on friends on family for views. Or perhaps it is because it was back in 2009 when we got married.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow ok I see similar viewership views with other family videos. As seen online, some dance or funny wedding videos go viral. In any case, thanks for uploading wedding, travel, RV videos. It's fascinating to see how various families around the world have bonding experiences. Children will appreciate as they get older. Congrats on wonderful life journey ✨⭐💫🙏🎉
Does Cosco simply replace battery with new one within its 5 year warranty? Are Cosco batteries better then Walmart? Thanks 😊
Yes Costco will either pro rate the battery or give you can exchange if it is within warranty. In my experience, Walmart (I bought Energizer and Everstart brand before) and Costo (Kirkland brand) are about the same price and quality for the 12v batteries. Both tend to last and die around the same time. I haven't scientically test it, but approximately.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow ok thanks good to know since I usually get Walmart batteries since stores are everywhere.
Im worried those wired battery cleaner brush may be too harsh as wires scrapes off too much surface lead from terminals. (Thus making harder to clamp) So i switched to using toothbrush and CRC battery cleaner, WD40, brake cleaner, baking soda, 😮or other non flammable oil to clean corrosion & grime. Thanks for informative videos!
Yep those will work too. Sometimes the build up is so hard that you need to scrap it off. You can probably scrap quite a bit off before you have issues. Replacing the terminals are pretty cheap too. But honestly I haven't thought twice about scrapping them, there are probably less abassive options like you mentioned. If a toothbrush combined with a cleaner or baking soda works, that is a very good method. Thanks for sharing 👍
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow thanks, I have been having issues keeping my terminals tight because some clamps have reached tightening limits. Seems battery connectors are made of soft lead. Auto stores also sell caps that allow tighter fit. I'm looking for minimal maintenance to save time. Continued blessings
Excellent video 🎉
Thank you 😊 👍
Thank you!!!! This was driving me crazy!
I am glad this helped. Believe me... I get your frustration 👍
Thanks
No problem. Glad it helped. 👍
Im thinking of replacing my existing camera with a wireless and your video is helping. However, please be aware that a scotchlok UB2 connector will let you tap power off the light cable without cutting it.
That is true for all of them I bought actually. They all came with a wire tap. I just didn't end up using it. They both work well I believe because another person commented saying they used the wire tap method successfully. So which ever method you go with should be OK. Wire tap will for sure avoid cutting the cable. Appreciate you commenting! Camera install status update - I did 5 of these installs and they are working fine. So the product itself still doing its job. 👍
How did your family handle that long in Paris. Without kids I’ve done a week and it felt short. Was 11 days the right amount ? I appreciated your video. Really helpful content.
It wasn't so bad actually. Mid trip we took a couple of days and hung out with some family in Paris so it was a nice break. I think the key was to not do back to back long days. For example, we hit Disneyland Paris one day. That wore us out pretty bad from all the walking. So the next day we relaxed and enjoy just eating food. Kids can be a pain sometimes on these trips, but each trip, they are getting better and better. What really helps is when my the dad, carries everything for everyone - fortunately I am still strong enough at this age. - That way they can enjoy go a bit further. Everyone had a great time though. In my head, those memories will love forever. Well worth it ❤️ What did you like most about Paris?
Thanks for the tips! We love the Marais area and people watching, we live in Australia so our architecture is so different. We love all things French, shopping, the markets, the art! It’s a place I cry when I leave. I only feel that way about Melbourne.
how much did that cost. Looks like major repair to get that deep into the engine bay..
It cost approximately $1500 Canadian for the repair. Half was parts the other half was labor. I was fortunate that the driver side manifold was fine, or it would have been double. Since the repair the unit has been driving perfectly.
Do you ever sanitize the fresh water tank system ?
I do not. All I really do I drain the tanks every season, and fill them back up when I use them again with pottable clean water. Where I live RV season is about 4 to 5 months in the year. So I usually dewintetize late may and winterize it back in late September. There are some chemicals you can dump in the tank to sanitize, but I haven't used these. For water usage patterns. We cook and clean with the water. But drinking I recommend bottled water or you boil the water first. Hope that helps.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow it does, your videos have been very helpful for our new (to us) Thor Majestic 28A. Thx alot !

We were their April 10th to april17
That's great, I hope you had a great time. How was it in April? How was the weather? In October when we went, it rained super hard almost nightly, but by morning it was sunny skies and super hot. Everything would dry up naturally once the sun came out. We stayed at the resort mainly so the nightly rain pour wasn't so bad, but I would imagine being a huge factor if I was 21 years old and looking to go bar or night club hopping.
Thank you so much for this video ! just bought my Majestic 28' and this made me so much more comfortable using it, also do you have a trick to change those black window latches when they break without taking the whole window out ?
I am not sure, I have had a few come off. I will investigate and get back.
When i hooked up this unite the 3 back top running lights on the right died and nothing works now
Hey I am not sure why that happened. If all the running lights are off, it could be a fuse that has tripped. I am not 100% sure on this one but I think the fuse you want to check is the one for the tail lamp circuit, the one you want to check is Fuse 22 or F22 which should be a 15 amp fuse. This is located in the interior fuse panel. This is the panel behind the foot brake or emergency brake. You can usually tell if the fuse is blown by visual inspection. Most of the time if a fuse blows you can see the metal piece in the middle broken. I hope this fixes your problem.
I just read it a bit more carefully. So only the top 3 on the right died. That is odd and I am not sure why if that is the case. A few steps I would recommend is reversing the changes you did and see if the lights come back on. If not, perhaps use a multimeter and check if you are getting power to the lights. If there is power and the lights are not on, then the lights somehow broke. If there is no power, then maybe the fuse is blown or there is some wiring issues. Again, I am just really guessing. I do not know why only some of the lights would work but not all. I think all the running lights, front top and back top all are one fuse.
I have purchased this Rv 23a terrific unit we’ve gone through the motor and transmission plugs and fuel injectors as a precaution for long trips only issue was the propane tank only shows 2/3 wish it was totally full.good unit lots of fun highly recommend the Thor 23a .🤩
Hey thanks for sharing your experience. Most of the RV units I have seen have show full as 2/3 ish mainly because you are suppose to only will Propane tanks to 80%. There is a rule called the 80% filling rule. But if your propane value is really busted and showing 2/3's then haha, but one thing to note, the propane tanks can go quite a while at EMPTY before it is actually empty, but I also bet you have learned to guess and gauge manually. Also - I have had a valve and gauge changed once. It was 250$ CND... for the Valve + 30 minutes labor. The valve was stuck on tight I tell ya. Figured share that with you incase your valve ever got super busted. I hope you the units keeps purring for you to enjoy. 👍👍🙌🙌
Should be a million plus...good on y'all
Thank you, maybe of these days I will get lucky 👍🙌
Thank you for showing this on an old rv and for every little step you took toward waterproofing and securing the camera! Great resource!
Thank you for the kind words. I am glad you found it helpful. This unit I feel is very reliable with a few modern updates.

You are welcome. I appreciate your support👍🙌
Hello and thank you so much for this informational video it is so helpful. I am in the process of a life change and have been looking at a 2013 Ford majestic e-350 RV and wanted to ask you or anyone on this subscription list what should I be looking for when I am scrutinizing the RV. The individual has been extremely accommodating and is asking 35K for it. If everything is in good shape is this a fair price. I want to explore this great country and continent while I still can and would really appreciate any advice anyone would like to share. Thank you again for taking the time to make these videos, you have touched and helped many, many people. Warmth Bobbi
Hi @bobbi-jeancharlton2041 thank you for your kind words. What currency is the 35K? Also, did you note the KMs on the RV you are purchasing? My number one advice is to make sure you test the water system. When buying in winter, it maybe hard to, but this will be a costly repair if the pipes or hot water tank has leaks.
@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow It's in canadian dollars, and I can't remember the kilometers, but I can check with the seller. I live in Victoria BC, so maybe they've started the system up. I found another same year, just a different model name. The one for 35k is a "Majestic" private sale, and the other is an "Adventurer" at Arbutus RV dealers. That one is considerably more 55k.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow hello, again. The RV has 268,000 km on her.
Hey generally speaking there might be somethings that will appear. - It is common to see front shocks swapped to new ones. However you cold ride on old shocks of they are not broken. - Manifold issues. I had some bolts snap at 240K ish. Not a big issue to repair. - If the engine does blow for whatever reason it would be about 10k to 12k to rebuild a V10 and a little less for a V8. But you should be good for a while. Being that you are buying at 268K. Everything else has been pretty good besides things I would consider as regular maintenance. I do sealing checks once a year for the roof and exterior in spring. Let me know if you have any specific questions I will try to answer them.
Amazingly helpful thank you

We just purchased Thor Majestic 23 A and find your videos helpful. Have you instaled a TV in your Thor Majestic 23 A? If so how and where?
I have not installed a TV. I mainly have gone with Tablets and they were fine. I am finding it very hard to fine a spot though visually. Above the entrance door might be okay for a small one. For me I always thought that I would ceiling hang a small light modern TV with some ceiling mount flip down system. There are beams you can screw into that would surely hold a light modern TV. I have tapped into this beams from the outside top of the roof for a solar install and they are solid.
@@thebestfamilyoutdoorshowHave you done any videos of your solar install. I am buying a 2018 next week and plan on putting one of those lifetime roofs on it, but want to add solar first, so that the bars are sealed.
@@webermock I did actually, but didn't end up getting to posting it. I will post one soon and hope it is in time for your install. If you got any specific questions I can try to answer it here.
@@webermock There are beams you can drill into. I will try to get you the dimensions
