I met this friendly guy on the track near Stretch-Lagoon, towards the northern end of the track, , I was 'fairly' sure he was a harmless Black-Headed Python but when he started to come towards me, I wasn't confident enough in my ID to stand my ground, I started backing up just in case, lol.

Just put me off buying a van.
Used to be an all men's wilderness gay retreat....Bob Brown. Built in the 80s...🤦🏼♂️
The food was leftovers from 1 or 2 weeks before this cruise went sailing i had food poisoning for the first 3 nights at the lido restaurant. The food was crap until the 2 nights before coming home and then it was fresh food. I just had to eat salad thru the trip. It was really bad until i heard the top chefs arguing outside the lido restaurant about the food not been cooked probably and people were getting sick. 😢 28:24
Interesting... I mainly ate in the main dining room, only went to the Lido a couple of times...
You missed it dude! Turn right at 35:30 takes you about 2k up the hill to the Mt Huxtable carpark. About halfway up that spur is the camp spot that you see on all the YT 4x4 vids.

Wat a view gunna need to send in some window cleaners to keep the view viewable
It wouldn't surprise me if the stairs have collapsed now, they were pretty dodgy ...
It's great how your instinctive reaction is to just laugh!
Shit happens, you've gotta laugh at it... At least at low speed in sand there's no pain or bruises :p
@@FLICKIT I managed to break my little finger with a slow speed drop in sand just like these, sometimes luck just isn't on our side
hehe dont ya just luv dumping it in the sand oh buggers about bloody right mate great effort 🍺

Hi mate, just found your channel. It’s Ronnie, from the 2 crf 300s you met on the track. Hope all is well 👍🏻

I’m back over in oz in May, we will be tackling the southern section from Parngurr
@@leehammond203 Excellent, have fun,.. Some of the sand down south is nasty, especially around Durba Spring, but there's also a lot of fairly easy trail riding.. South of about well-11 is all pretty easy... I leave next week, heading up to Birdsville to do another loop through the Simpson, then I might head up Cape York, not too sure yet..
can i ask u how many kms with that deep sand tough section in CSR? and rest of section is ok to ride? i want to do CSR myself one day.
There's a lot of soft sand, the worst is probably from Durba Spring to Lake Disappointment... The first ~400km of the track is fairly easy, mainly hard packed with occasional soft creek beds and such, then it gets very sandy... It tends to be either soft sand or heavily corrugated, there's odd hard packed and/or rocky parts but not a great deal... The northern section above Kunawarritji was a bit easier I think, lots of sand and dunes but the sand felt a little firmer... I uploaded video footage of the whole track to my other channel, maybe click across a few of the videos to get an idea of the track conditions: czcams.com/play/PL4IO7m8cxw6oeC6C7RIia21k_QoPxhrfS.html Goodluck :)
@@FLICKIT thanks for info mate, videos look well organized, i ll watch all. Do u think beach sand is still softer and harder to ride?
@@ryder8538 Some of the desert sand is worse than dry soft beach sand due to how fine it is, but I think most the desert sand is easier than the beach sand...
Were you trolling or casting?
A bit of both :)
I am heading there in a few weeks - to Scott’s Peak area with boat. What areas did you find the most productive. I also have a few Tassie devils but was thinking some other hard bodies might be in order.
@@davidr9821 These are spots I've caught trout down south: imgur.com/qZY6Ukt .. I saw a guy catch a decent one right next to the scotts peak boat ramp also... I'm not a mad keen fisherman, I'm just a bit of a hack, I tend to just stick around the shores in shallower waters... Goodluck :)
@@FLICKIT much appreciated!
Wow what a surprise, it looks like these tunnels are now a tourist attraction? I used to live in Waihi in the 70's and went into these exact tunnels before they had any sort of safety rails etc. I vividly remember them with the windows coming out far above the river. We used to get there walking along a water pipe that I suspect was where the path is to that swing bridge but I dont think that bridge was there, I dont recall crossing the river, we used to go into a mine on the side where the pipe was and go under the river via shafts that went down to levels well below river level and then up again on the other side into that same tunnel. Never thought I would see them again, thank you for posting.
Thanks for watching.. It sounds like they were more fun back in the day, more 'real'... I got the impression these tunnels were a run-down tourist attraction, no doubt funding was thrown into this area quite a few years ago, then it's been left to get a bit run down, some tunnels were closed due to safety issues which was annoying...
Definitely look like it@@FLICKIT
Was there in 2016. Turned up at dusk saw a raging fire going in the fireplace. Then as i was pulling up two people in what looked like identical trench coats where walking away from me easterly down the track. I thought it strange that they didnt look back at me or aknowledge that i was there at all even though my headlights were on and shining down the track that they were on. I felt very uneasy about that so i high tailed it out of there and camped on the coast that night. Do you know or heard of the place being haunted???
That's strange.. I haven't heard of anything odd down there, some shack owners in places like that tend to be a bit funny though, lol ...
Why is it called the Aztec Track?
I have no idea sorry :)
coordinates of kara hut? I have been there before but im looking to go there with mates but i dont wanna have to look for the track of the lenah valley track

Hi mate great footage, wondering if you’ve heard of Dismal Swamp in the far north west of Tassie? Would like to get in contact about cheers
Dismal Swamp closed down a few years ago, the last I heard they were going to use Federal funding to clean it up and then try to get a private company to run it... From this media release it sounds like it's still a work in progress: www.premier.tas.gov.au/site_resources_2015/additional_releases/dismal-swamp-land-reservation-to-enable-plans-for-potential-adventure-hub
very nice mate there’s some good sized ones still out there 👍🍺
Thankfully it's not too hard to catch fish in Pedder, lol
It sure doesn't take long for things to become ancient history.
Nature takes over very quickly once they're abandoned.
I was also on board Queen Elizabeth in December. I've sailed on her several times because I love the Art Deco decor and the peaceful elegance. There are no kids running around making a noise and no drunken fights which I've heard can occur on some ships. Some people think there might be snobbery on board but I've never found it to be so. Thank you for a great ship tour.
Thanks for you comment, and I 100% agree with you... I'm really not one to dress up, I'm more at home out in the bush or deserts of Australia camping and such, but I made a very small effort to buy a couple of dress shirts and such for the QE, I was expecting it to be a bit snobby and more upper class but I had no issues fitting in, I thoroughly enjoyed the demographic and vibe of it all even though I'm a bit younger than a lot of passengers (at 52)... AND YES about the kids, I think I only saw 4 or 5 kids on board and they were all very well behaved and always with their parents... It was my first cruise and I have no regrets, I'm glad I picked the QE over anyone else.. :)
Not impressed by this Elizabeth Regina ship. The decor is not much better than a Carrnival ship.. Do not accept and approve class distinction on board where you have facilities for one class ( inner, oceanview and basic balcony) whilst another class for those pay more for their state cabin. British aristocracy is a dying breed especially in now day and age. Will stick my cruise preference with Celebrity Line.
I didn't mind the 1930's art deco style, it's quirky and something different, I really liked all the art around the place, impressive... You don't notice the expensive Grills class people or facilities, they have their own small dining rooms and lounge tucked away up the top, you wouldn't know it's even there unless you went looking for it... The Grills Suits are VERY expensive, if people can afford them all well and good, it doesn't impact me at all, I was very happy with the Britannia Balcony cabin and Britannia Restaurant..
Actually, you will find to your chagrin that with the advent of ever larger ships, as a means of escape from hyped up crowds of budget cruisers and families with young children, the ship within a ship concept is steadily gaining ground. It provides a measure of restful luxury and exclusivity that discerning travelers demand. NCL has the haven, Cunard the grills and yes even Celebrity has the retreat.
Leech city
I didn't notice any but it was pretty dry when I was there..
thats a good ride up there mate happy new year too cheers

(Parn to Kun = 19.4L used = 19.59km/L = 5.1L per 100km) Filled tank with 12.4L +11L+11L in bladders = 40L total. 676km to Bililuna, 3.75L left in tank. @@ryder8538 Hey.. There's caribeeners on the corners of the bladders, they're clipped on... I think someone got their cardio in with all the on bike"running" 😁
That was a tough day... I picked the 3 softest/worst dunes for this video, lol, there were next to no other dunes that needed any paddling, certainly none that needed that much anyway....
Many years ago a bunch of us rode from Guilford and after a long downhill track through thick bush, we crossed the Arthur River and from then on my memory is pretty hazy, I know we went into Yolla to refuel. I'm talking mid 1990s here. But damn, there's so many. tracks through that area, we've done Rabalga track etc from the far west and come out past the Radar at West Taken. Must get back there one day.
Magic country up there.. :)
Shes a wild track. I missed it when i was up there. But will do it next time!
It was a little daunting heading through there because I didn't really know what it would be like, in the end it wasn't a big deal, well worth doing :)
So where's the power supply for this tower ?
There were some solar panels up on the tower.. It may not actually be in use anymore... Being so close to the Dazzler Range tower I figure it may have just been a radio repeater tower or the likes,
I have stayed here lots of times
You been to the one off, I think it's Castra road ? My memory's a bit hazy on the exact location, the road to it is a short cut through pines and theres a 4 way cross road with a track leading up to the tower which is/was still there, the first ladder section has been removed. On the western end of the road where it pops back onto the main road is a pig farm. I think there's a sign indicating emergency detour or something similar.

That plaque is for my cousin.
Completed in 2022 on a dirt bike by my INSANE grandson. Did the entire East to West a year or two earlier.
The laboured breathing is a bit spooky. Do you want to background the viewer about the area and a couple of quotes from Tacitus or Pliny would add a bit of verve.
It was a long day riding the motorbike around hut 1, 2, 3, & 4 and then hiking out there, I was fairly worn out, lol.. I tend not to do a great deal of research before trips like that so if I did talk I'd just be talking crap...

Awesome video mate. Hard to tell exactly from the video but I assume it's not the best track for a 4x4. Is this near Barrett's rd?
Yes, Blackwell Rd, Weaning Rd, through to Barretts Rd, it probably wouldn't be doable in a 4x4, bike or atv only... Sorry for the slow response..
Decent size one mate
Beautiful looking snake but discretion is the better part of valour, especially out there 👍
thats some hard but fun riding mate little yammys loving it
That was probably the easiest riding along the whole track, lol, I'll find a chunk of hard stuff to upload int he coming days, most of it was brutal.... The little blue pack horse does great, I'm not a little guy and I don't pack light, she just sucks it up and keeps going, amazing bikes....
