How To Diagnose And Fix A High Idle On Dirtbike!
zhlédnutí 107KPřed 4 lety
A very high idle can be caused by an air leak or the throttle assembly. Air leaks are common along the air boot or the intake manifold. If you are more unlucky an air leak can appear in your left crank seal. Check the easy things first starting with your air filter, then moving along towards your throttle assembly to make sure your cable is not sticking. My problem ended up being a chipped carb...
Does spray painting a coil work? Step by step guide and test
zhlédnutí 33KPřed 4 lety
Yes, spray painting a shock coil/spring works. I'm not sure this holds true to every brand or type of spray paint out there, but for the paint and methods I used it worked great. For me, it was far cheaper to buy the three cans of paint rather than send my coil to a powder coating service. I've taken the bike on three rides since painting the rear coil. My riding conditions are pretty harsh wit...

    hey what is the difference between normal spray paint and spray paint that is made to be a base coat? is it just a primer?

    • @andrewschwartz_

      Been a while since I last looked at the can, but if I remember right the color coat is slightly transparent, so the primer/base will show through.

    I used brush on paint stripper to remove all my paint, then glass media blasting finished it off, inside the coil and out. You didn't demonstrate flipping the spring to paint the base coil and full coverage of your top down paint application.

    Quick question I have a cr250r as well this weekend I took it out to ride and once I was revving it a bit to warm it up I took it for a spin then kept revving it a bit and out of no where it starts to over rev itself and I try to push the kill switch and it didn't work then I unplugged the spark plug wire and it didn't work then I turned off the fuel and disconnected a fuel line and then after a bit it shut off. What can be the cause of that? Maybe needs a new carb?

    • @andrewschwartz_
      @andrewschwartz_ Před 9 měsíci

      Do you have an aftermarket head? The self-ignition part is pointing towards wayyy too much compression+heat. This would also explain the rpm.

    • @Body_Dropped
      @Body_Dropped Před 9 měsíci

      @andrewschwartz_ no the guy I got the bike from said he rebuilt it and it's the stock engine

    • @andrewschwartz_
      @andrewschwartz_ Před 9 měsíci

      Regardless, self-ignition is not good. Maybe you accidentally filled er up with diesel and it was able to ignite? Sounds goofy but check that first. If not it's probably not a bad idea to do a compression test and change spark plugs or check your top-end clearances entirely. I don't think this has much to do with your carb. @@Body_Dropped

      @@andrewschwartz_ this way you are measuring the distance from the blade to the fence and what size you want you piece to be instead of figuring out how much material has to come off of your piece of wood. My rule of thumb as well is if I can make an L with my right hand and place it against the fence and my thumb will touch the blade that I use a push stick of some kind.

      Great. It’s protected from the back wheel, so there’s not really any risk of rocks unless you get roosted by another bike. As far as from compression, still no cracks or flakes in the paint. Just use a good quality spray paint and don’t take any shortcuts and it should be fine.

    I need help. I fell off of my bike doing a wheelie like a moron. I had to replace the silencer, because the hanger was bent. The header pipe has a slight bend, but the new fmf slid right on and I put the bolts in. It starts fine. If I rev it, it will continue to stay loud. Air screw position is within spec. Idle screw doesn’t really do anything. It just holds the rev even when I’m not revving it. The bike also goes by itself without any throttle. When I have the kickstand down it will move on it’s own. Also when I fell off my throttle was stuck. I took the throttle apart and I fixed that issue. Throttle feels normal. Please help if you can. Thanks.
