Nice work on that courtyard! The only thing I would recommend is a screen or decorative panel to hide A/C unit. That might even block some of the noise.

Amazing video I’m doing my house I just added the glass doors today. Upstairs is all done but we have lots of plans for downstairs and the from yard. We are adding an island table a bin that u use a drawer to open and a utility room. We are using spotlights in the garden roof bit which we have done so we can put chairs and sit . I’m exited we. We are doing the downstairs shower and toilet also sink all we need to do is put the grout we have all the decorations already. But we are nearly done and hoping to finish by September good luck on ur house.❤

This is wonderful, esp the Japanese Maple. Oooooo. My challenge is that I live in the desert. An oasis feel uses too much water. I'm leaning to a dry Italian modern design, no hardscaping, using decomposed granite. Finding plants, not many, that works in the desert while eschewing cacti. I love that water feature. Our issue is wind and heat. Designing around it will be a challenge.

The rubber mulch is the best idea as it doesn’t break down or lose its colour. Bark mulch you end up having to refresh every year. Courtyard looks awesome.
