Tãma (Peanuts) roasting in the Amazon Rainforest!
Tãma (peanut) is one of the traditional foods of the Huni Kuin people of the Amazon Rainforest. It is planted along river courses during the dry season, right when the rains stop and the rivers begin to drop.
It is common to see tãmas drying hanging from the ceilings of houses. Each family has its own stock and makes exchanges and contributions to different tribe events.
In certain diets (spiritual rituals) the person plants their own tãma that will be consumed during the diet period. In addition to tãma, some other foods are essential in the diet since, during the period of seclusion, the foods that can be consumed to achieve the purpose of the prayer are very limited.
It's the abundance of the forest! Abundance of nature. Delights of life!
