We're The Hamblins, Bill and Frances, and are full-time RVers. In 2022, we sold our home, Bill "retired" from his career, and we left the only state we had ever lived in. It's just us and our two dogs, Sutton and Rhett, traveling the U.S. with no end date in sight.
We are high-school sweethearts and have been married for over 19 years. We both grew up in Tampa, Florida and have always been outdoor enthusiasts. From rock climbing to open water swims, we've always found ways to enjoy nature. We're also foodies at heart. We love to cook, but mainly because we just like to eat good food.
So now we travel the country in our Airstream in search of new places to explore, interesting people to meet and great food to try. Follow along on our journey as we share what we uncover.

Setting Up An Office in Our Airstream – No Construction Needed
When it came time to set up our office so we could work from the RV it was about balance. We wanted a space that allowed us to work comfortably but still retained the features of the trailer that we liked.
We weren’t out to demo and rebuild an entirely new space. We liked the dinette/lounge area in the Airstream and wanted to keep it. But we had to find a way to add some additional features that made working from the road more enjoyable.
Come inside our 2022 25’ Globetrotter and see how we’ve setup our office and the gear we use. It all comes apart in minutes so we can still enjoy our lounge when we’re off the clock.

Thanks for your walkthrough. We are snaking our cable through the external storage under the bed, but are adding the smart plug solution in a few weeks while we are stopped with family.
Nice! Let us know how it goes.
Great tip. Thank you! I appreciate your product spreadsheet as well.
Awesome! Glad you found it, and the spreadsheet helpful.
I could see how important it is for you to have good internet for your job. We will probably end up with a similar set up. We just installed a booster, so that is helping what we have to work better. We have the T-mobile unit right now and it works in most places. Great thorough video! - Michelle
Glad you found it helpful.
Thanks for the information in this video on your internet. We have starlink, which has worked well for us so far (except for one site with lots of tree coverage, luckily they had wifi). We have a 2023 27FB, so it didn't come with the smart plug. If you want to finish your video, we would love to see how you set up the starlink in your rig. We plan on installing the smartplug in Aug when we at a family member's house.
Nice! The SmarPlugs are a nice product and an easy install if just swapping out an older receptacle. And yeah, I'll have to get that other video done. It's been a long time coming and I just keep putting it off for some reason.
Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Nice video. Definitely going to have bacon today. 😊
Bacon is always a valid option!
We got a cheap little air fryer that has been a great substitute for a convection oven. I hate hauling around another appliance but it is small enough to store under our back bench in the basecamp and it has really helped expand our cooking options!
I keep debating getting a small one because I hear everyone swear by them. The largest appliance we have that is under our bed is our crock pot. And even that I have debated getting rid of bc we probably only use it twice a year. What kinds of things do you use it for most?
We do not have a convection oven. The views of Pictured Rocks were stunning. Those BLT's look delicious! Great idea adding in some unique elements. - Michelle
Pictured rocks was stunning indeed. Especially at sunset! Hope you try out the new ingredients next time you make your BLTs!
Helpful video - thanks for posting!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I’m surprised that you guys don’t have a portable water softener.. We’ve ran into terribly hard water, so snagged a portable softener…life changing!
Just haven't seen the need for one yet. We haven't had one at any previous houses either.
Exceptional video
Thank you very much!
Another very informative vlog, have always wondered how to use a multimeter, now I know how.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful! And there is SO much more a multimeter can do. This just scratched the surface.
Thank you for the informative Vlog, as always enjoy watching.
Our pleasure! Glad you found it informative!
Great video! Do you have any good recipes to share that you have made in the convection mode. We have only made brownies, tator tots and baked potatoes so far.
All sorts of stuff! Lasagna, meatloaf, reverse sear on steaks, cakes, pizza, you name it! I use it for anything I would have used a regular oven for. The only rate limiter is the actual space (I.e. a 9x13 pan won't fit). Let me know if there is something you've been craving and I'll dig up some recipes for ya!
Great video!! We added EZ Recreation’s - Utility Bumper on the back of our Airstream Basecamp to carry our bikes. It’s a little more stylized and less discreet but it’s a very similar concept. It also has a 2 inch hitch receiver and it’s similarly bolted into our Basecamp’s frame. We’ve hauled two heavy bikes (totaling 80 lbs), for several thousand miles, in lots of different driving conditions and we just love it! It’s been such a game changer having the bikes conveniently mounted on back of the trailer and being able to easily switch them to the tow vehicle for day trips. We started out with the Kurt Transfer V2 too but found that because of my bikes fenders, it was difficult to secure it with damaging it. We recently switched to the Hollywood RV Rider which clamps onto the frame of the bikes instead of the wheels and that seems to be working better for us. Thanks again for sharing the video of your experience! It’s so nice to hear from a fellow Air streamer who’s also been successfully carrying their bikes with a frame mounted hitch receiver!
Glad you liked it and glad to hear you are having good luck with your setup!
Yes I can see that on a travel day. Easy to make.. I guess chips or grapes would go good as a side. What kinda a drink was that? Ginger drink would pair good with the Curry.
Grapes would be perfect! And this was a non-alcoholic beer from Athletic Brewing (Cerveza Athletica). But yes, a nice ginger ale would go well.
Can I add 2 50ft cables together using a coupler?
You mean once you've added the RJ45s on either end? Sure, it should work with no issues. But if it's going to be outside you may want to look into a weatherproof connector, or have some way to protect the connection from the elements. The port we have on the side of our trailer, to get inside the rig, is essentially a coupler.
@@RamblinHamblins yes sir I'm planning to use a weatherproof coupler. Our house is surrounded with tall trees and I have no choice but to put it far away from our house.
I love this! Thank you for sharing the details of the menu, recipe, doggies, and life in general. :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you!!! I’m a first time camper and nobody really talks about best tips for doing the job. I know it will be no problem. 😎
Well you friend, are exactly who I hoped this video would help!! I'm so glad you will feel more self-assured on your next trip! You've got this!
Good and informative video. Always good to safeguard your equipment. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I have installed 5 so far this year of the high performance starlink on boats. Most times I have to cut the cable on fishing boats to run through tubing or confined spaces. I have soldiered back together and never had any issues.
That’s one way to go. We needed to be able to disconnect the exterior dish/cable so a disconnect able connection was a must for us.
it is work??
Works great.
Fun, easy, tasty looking recipe! Thank you for sharing. - Michelle
You are so welcome!
Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t been by in a while. Enjoyed the video! I would have never thought of something like this. Good job!
It’s been one we’ve made for years. Always hits the spot.
@@RamblinHamblins nice one!
Do you ever check your generator?
Ours has a digital readout built in, but you could check the outlets on a generator in the same way shown in the video.
A multimeter is definitely a great tool. -Michelle
It sure is!
Curiosity question (as I up my game with some new testers). Is it ok to use my EMS as a test? I typically plug it in and let it go through its checks before I plug in, but I also do this after I disconnect and start setting up. Either way, is that not a preferred method for checking?
The EMS is one way to go. It should catch any bad stuff before damage to the trailer, but it may be at the expense of the EMS (in really bad cases).
Am thinking about doing this. How many miles have you driven it? How long is your Airstream? You say “2years” on the video. How long now?
We installed the hitch in January of 2022 and hit the road full-time in April of 2022, so it's been just over 2 years of full-time use (plus the use it got for a few months before that) on the road as we've travelled across the country and back again ... probably somewhere between 15k and 20k miles. We've got a 25' FBQ Globetrotter. We've been very happy with the hitch and rack setup and would do it again.
Tks!
Did you lift your Airstream to do this? If so, how much? Any issues with ur brake lights being obscured by the bikes? Tx!
We have the 3” lift on our Airstream. We had the lift before the hitch. And we’ve have no issues with the brake lights or license plate.
No strong magnetsm especially in small area, if you have a pacemaker
Correct! We did another video specifically about the induction cooktop and the benefits of using one. But we highlight that it's not for everyone - especially those with a pacemaker. At least not without checking with your doctor first. 👍
This is a great idea. We have a flying cloud with the hatch, do you think this would work on the full size table, or would we need to add additional legs?
I think they would work just fine. Worst case you could start with 2 and add more if you felt you needed it. Our 2 tables sections lock together and act like 1, so we just make sure we gently pull up on the back edge, where the legs are, when we put the legs down. That helps hold the table in place and keeps it from shaking. ... I hope that made sense lol
It's only unhealthy if you do it everyday...
I mean, I could …. 😂
@@RamblinHamblins live long and prosper 🙌
Mac Salad...yum...
It was really good. Will certainly make again.
They look amazing! Going to try for sure! Question are you ever concerned with the grease in your airstream? I’m always so careful about cooking greasy things?
We've had really good luck so far. As long as I have the exhaust fan on, it draws it upwards. Grease will get caught in that and I take it down and clean it once a month usually. I will sometimes cover the pan with a lid to limit how much hits the side wall and back splash but regardless it always cleans up easy and hasn't left any marks or stains. And we always dump excess grease in the trash before we wash the pans. We know some will make it in the grey tank but we treat that with Dawn once a month. I definitely wouldn't let it stop you! Enjoy!
Thank you for sharing your burger version. We love hamburgers and eat them often, without the bun. 🙂-Michelle
We usually have a few leftovers and I'll eat them like that for breakfast!
Burgers look delicious! Might have to try making a Hawaiian Mac salad. Making our own pickles are beyond my capabilities😂 but looks really crunchy.
Oh cmon! They're super easy! If you must buy store bought, my fave is Wickles (sweet and spicy)
I have to try these "old" fashioned Tacos. Awesome and thank you for the food adventure!
Hope you enjoy!
Awesome menu. Hawaiian Mac Salad sounds and looks great. Thanks for sharing the RV food adventure.
Our pleasure! We weren’t too sure when we realized how much mayo and cream went into it but it was tasty! And made for TONS of good leftovers!
This was a great walk through. We have had a basecamp and now in a flying cloud and don’t know that I’ve gotten a great rundown like this before.
Awesome! Glad you found it helpful.

A good knife is so important, looks like you have a great one. Also, open windows so smoke alarm doesn't go off! Ask me how I know ?? LOL. Very different tacos! They look delicious, thank you for sharing! - Michelle
We've fought with smoke detectors long before we were living in the trailer. lol
@@RamblinHamblinsRight? lol.
I'm intrigued! The ketchup surprised me but I'm going to try this.
It's definitely a "trust but verify" sort of thing ... but it works, somehow.
Picked up a 2020 7.3 Tremor about 6mo ago so i'm always looking for ideas, so thanks for sharing. onboard air is a definite for me just trying to figure out the best route to go. are you not concerned about dirt and debris on the intakes for the ARB? also liked the steering wheel upgrade, looks good.
I’m not overly concerned with the location of the compressor. It has filters and I’m not running it all the time, so it’s not like it’s ingesting road dust as we drive down the road. I’ve seen some mount them in the back seat … not gonna do that. Or in the bed, which is a viable option. I just didn’t want to give up bed space. The other option, since you’ve got the Godzilla engine, and a little more space under the hood, is to mount it there. Lots of Jeep and Tacoma guys do that with good results.
Interesting tour of your F250. We are towing our Airstream with a F150 Max Tow Package. Love Ford Trucks!
Very cool! We can’t knock ours, or the one before that.
Thanks for sharing. We just moved into a 27FB full-time. This should help me maximize our storage.

The asmr crunch of your sewer hose is exactly the sound that I didn’t know I needed. Lol
HAHAHA! I'm never going to be able to listen to it the same way again.
Just wondering which adapter you guys use for sewer connections that are either not threaded, or else the threads have been mangled and it won't screw in any longer?
We have this one and it's done well for us when the connection at the park isn't threaded. amzn.to/3y3OeOX
