Looks good! Next year I am planning to start wrapping bales. We bale Sorghum Sudan grass in the summer months and sometimes I just cannot get it dry before a rain comes. Also the spoilage of the outer edge because we store outside. Questions I have, how many wraps are you putting on each bale? After wrapping how long before it is ready to feed?
If you don’t mind me asking, why don’t you have a lumber company come out and clear the land for you? Just curious on your thought on this, thank you kindly!
Not enough timber to make it worthwhile for them. You need 15-20 acres of mature hardwood. But you still have all the mess to clean up when they are done.
Thank you for your response!
What do you use to haul that machine? 1 ton pickup?
F550
Seems like renting a bulldozer would make more sense in this situation. Then come up and detail work with the mini Ex.
Would have been easier for sure but top soil is a premium in our area. Plus we just use equipment we own
How well did this actually work? Thinking about doing this to my SVL90-2
Yes it made a big difference
You realky think that isgoing to work animals live in the now not yesterday not tomorrow today only but whatever
We try to do everything we can for the animals, don’t hurt to try
Why not opt for mulching over burning to enrich the soil?
Try to use the equipment we got vs renting or spending $$$
Awwww, I'm so glad it seemed to work! The poor Mama never stopped calling for her baby! 😢
Has master cylinder gone bad yet? What hour reading?
So far so good, no issues, I’ll have to look at the hour meter on it but we’ve been using for several years now, but that’s just for our personal heating needs
What size is your excavator. I’ve been wanting to buy something to clear my property but can’t make my mind up.
KX 80 is the size of our excavator, it will handle most needs, maybe a bit slower on the big stumps but plenty for our farm
How are you planning to root rake? Or will you just plow/disc it?
We just grub it with skidsteer and grapple bucket. Turn the teeth down and comb it. Then we level it off and drill it with seed. Way too many rocks and if you break the ground with a disc or plow, you just pull all roots to the surface. Just cover it when you level and plant
@@j2cattlefarm awesome. Thank you. I have alot of rock where I am clearing as well!
I would spread those ashes as evenly as possible and then disc it into your top soil. It would help your soil pH, especially with the acidic properties of pine.
Thanks and we did scatter as much as possible all over the field.
My dozer with the root rake helps keep the topsoil in place
great little channel this is. can't wait to see the next uploads
Thank you we will try.

Wow that is exciting and I would love to have a barn like that myself. Only thing I was wondering: did you set the posts in the dirt or on concrete piers? I have seen people putting them in the dirt and its just something I would try to always avoid.
We drill holes about 3ft-4ft deep and set in concrete. It may depend on the soil, but this is how it’s done around here. The pad is poured around the post
Wow that turned out good! Lots of work though! We bought 25 acres about 7 years ago here in Nova Scotia. Most of it was clearcut about 15 years earlier so we basically started from 0. Build a house, shed and chicken coop. Then cleared some land for lawn and orchard. All without any machinery (other than hiring a 15 ton excavator sometimes). We then added 36x40 woodworking shop. Recently a 36x40 barn and now another 16x50 house. Recently bought our first machine which is a 6 ton excavator. Holy cow what a help that is!! I would love to have some cattle and we are hoping to buy another 35 acres within the next years. It has been clear cut about 20 years ago so the plan would be to pretty much completely turn it into pasture for cattle and hay. We do have the excavator now but I am almost thinking of just getting a huge mulcher in and just mulch the whole property and then a bulldozer and maybe even a tractor with a plough? Anyway, wish you all the best and hopefully we will have nice pasture like you some day! Cheers
Always a work in progress, good luck, it will be worth it one day
Good info. Thanks
No problem!
Everything looks really good. Nice and neat 👍
Thank you
Nice job !
Thanks!
Nice job !
Thanks!
that's awesome
Thank you
I'm getting ready to install a 7400E in a week or
We love ours. Just wish they could get the mix right on the nozzle, can’t get one to last more than a year before it cracks and breaks and falls into the lower chamber
You are losing time making a "loop" at each corner. Why don't you turn square corners? I use an older JD 530 MoCo and clean square corners are a breeze.
I agree, sometimes I do but it depends on shape of field, this one is like a triangle.
@@j2cattlefarm Yep, been there, done that. Those irregular shape fields are a pain in the rear.
Feed looks good eh. When we use to put up Haylage we started chopping at 45% moisture.. Nice set up, good job everyone.
Thanks 👍
pretty impressive...good operation and feed choice.
Thanks 👍
What model kubota is your baleing tractor and how do you like it? I had a 9960 gave me no problems but was the most uncomfortable tractor I ever ran I was looking to step up in size
I have the 135mgx I like the mega cab and this one has the hydraulic cylinder like a shock absorber on the front axle. We have a m7060 as well and this mgx is 100 times more comfortable
How many times you cut rye grass a year
Twice, then we kill and plant summer annuals
@@j2cattlefarm and many cuts give you summer annuals?
Wich grass is it ??
Fria ryegrass
Nice crop of grass
Thanks
Amazing. Amazes me how you learned all this! Passed down or self taught? I see a lot of fields with what looks like some kind of rye or maybe winter wheat. Not sure if it’s for hay or just cover crop before planting.
Self taught, research, trial and error
What type of forage rye do you sow
Fria
Always learning something! Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Good stuff! God bless!
Thank you
Nice video! Good clearing job
Thanks!
Just curious what you pay for that’s spitter. that thing Is awesome!
I honestly can’t remember it’s been so long since I bought I’d have to look back at the receipt but I bet today they would be much higher
Keep up the good work
Thanks, will try
Thanks Jackie!
