    This is actually way trickier than I thought. I've managed to wreck one replacement port already. How to get solder to adhere to the holding "legs" by ensuring they're hot enough WITHOUT melting the plastic inside the port?! You made it look so easy!

    • @solderingironguide
      @solderingironguide Před 2 měsíci

      I keep my hotair station at 380C and medium airflow, you then make adjustments to speed and temp by moving near or far from the part as needed. For larger PCBs and larger parts, you may need to crank the temperature much higher and/or use a hot plate.

    • @solderingironguide
      @solderingironguide Před 5 měsíci

      You should not need to check the mcu -> pad connections, unless you suspect a broken trace somewhere. Just use a multi-meter from the mcu pin to pad. Using a good flux will make sure there are no solder bridging issues too.

      I just keep my ts100 iron at the default 300C for almost all soldering. If the pcb is large and I'm soldering the side of a part that touches the ground plane, the iron may loose heat, so I will use the hot air to warm the board.

      Just use liquid flux to fill the holes, then put solder on the iron tip and touch it to the holes and the solder will fill them up. Then you can use the hot air to let the part sink in.
