My crazy boat life. Watch me buy and sell and sail and just muck about with sailboats......and love almost every minute of it! Its raw and unedited and about as unpretentious as it gets!
I have started building my wee house!

Rounding the cape!

I motor around cape Rodney on route to Mangawhai heads 18/3/24. About five minutes after this video the wind picked up to about 20 knots with bigger gusts and I had a hell of a sail(A bit intense at times) the rest of the way. I made it safely. I am also glad it's done now!
I buy another yacht sight unseen!
zhlédnutí 2KPřed 5 měsíci
I motored my Cal 27 called mongo out to kawau island to see a boat i had brought sight unseen about a month ago. A Salthouse 25/cav 26. What I think is the coolest yacht design ever. I then after this video towed it back to Mahurangi (About 25ks) Two yachts and a dingy all with a 6hp Johonson! What an impressive motor! It took 2 hours to motor there and 4 to get back. Thankfully there was no wind!
I am sailing a new boat i just brought 60k up the coast in windy conditions.

I revisit Kiwa and try and figure out how I am going to get it to the tidal grid then clean it and get it out of where it is in Auckland. Ps if anyone is going north and would like a job to tow it to Mahurangi I would be happy to pay 500 bucks!

Sailing a new little sail boat called Puddle jumper(An Allen wright variant) up the coast in about 20knots. Quite a long sail into the wind in the end but got to Mahurangi about 5pm so no harm and pleased to arrive safely. Had the boat staring on its own with a rope for about 30mins at one spell. Cool little boat

Good luck Jason, good progress. Very inspiring
Thanks for the update, I’m looking forward to seeing the build progress.👊
Looks bloody awesome!
Looks great Jason. There is a lot to be said for keeping things simple 👍
Whats the asking price?
Would have being good to have seen the outside. The inside looks mjnt. Wooden boats will last forever so long as maintained
Stop moaning
You're too kind.

No comb. Sorry just had to say that.

Congrats Jace! You'll be snug as a bug in yr Tiny! It's so cute! Shall I buy you a windchime and some crystals as a housewarming gift? 😂
Hi tania.thank u I'm trying to keep it as minimal as I would love a visit though or perhaps a ph call!
All the best Jason. We'll done YOU🎉😊
Well done Jason X
Leave the bushes and put the house behind it. Dig a hole so you have a celler and put the house on top, out of sight and those bushes kill alot of noise

Hello fellow Kiwi, so glad to have found your channel. Love what you're doing there, gorgeous Tiny and Congratulations on getting life sorted after monumental changes. One thing for future video's, please slow down the camera panning around, this was a bit chaotic and i almost couldn't watch. All the best 💚🌏💚
It's all you need really, congratulations on your new home 😊
Thanks for sharing this part of your life. You are a constant source of inspiration for me and I'm sure many others. All the best!!
Wow!!! The strength you got Jason to do all this, while your marriage is broken up!!!
Hi Jason - new here to your channel but was so excited as you are doing exactly what I want to do. I have the land but can’t afford the tiny house yet - but seeing yours is very inspiring. Being completely off-grid is also my goal. Can’t wait to watch the development of this project! :)
Congratulations Jason. It looks awesome my friend. Well done.
Nice to see your enthusiasm for simple living. Smart looking tiny house. Is there a bathroom space or is that going to be a seperate building?
Freaking awesome Jase! Well done you, and I'm looking forward to popping out for a visit soon.
Well done! Whats the tiny house dimensions out of interest?
5m long. 2. Wide.but the height inside some how makes it feel bigger!
you seem to be coping well with what must have been a very stressful time. Wishing you success and happiness in your new life.
Thank you
Jason Just wanted to say how much I enjoy your videos. No need to edit, love that they're real. Your boats are all so affordable and the honest appraisels and upbeat persona are gold. Cheers ( and I hope the family stuff doesn't bring you down too hard. Time is a great healer of tragedy)

Using the gas stove/oven would be safer than the little gas thing you have, turn bottle off after use or retirng for the day, safe as.
I look at boats on trade me and chicken out of buying them. There's a Gladden on Waiheke ( liveaboard potential) if I can just find my gold card to get a free ferry ride... Good on you. Carry on the carry on.
I had an old 18footer v class ( square - bilge) and almost got run over by Blake on Lion NZ steaming into auckland harbour in the round the world race ( 82?) as was so slow couldn't get out of the way!!!
Awesome to see Jason beautiful little setup
R U aloud to drop anchor anywhere you want? I remember when I was young (1990s) my uncle would drop anchor for a couple of nights at a quiet bay..ie no pay.
Mongo is on a mooring. Its no anchored. Re anchoring if you are curious to know more maybe seek advice from harbor master? Or your local authorities.
U can anchor almost anywhere. Kiwiland on the water : the last bastion /bastille of the free : of the encroaching bureaucrats who seek out u & me... 🎉 🎉🎉. 😮. 🎉😂😊😊🎉🎉🎉
U can anchor almost anywhere in kiwiland. No worries bro. Just watch out for the mussels & cables, keep elbows on tables, everything except the beer is free. 🎉🎉🎉

Sorry about that guys : I thort the first one didn't go thru : so I did it again : ( slightly but not entirely, off subject : been watching old sea dog for a while, but just getting into sailing Tritiea, esp as he's in nz. Funny how they sail around the world, to totally admire experience the place, and we live here, and many don't. Not u Jason : u do stuff, even involving the odd numerous stuff-up. I have nowhere to keep a boat, so I'm gonna buy an inflatable canoe, add a tiny sail, sleep ashore, under the open church pew.
My wife gave me an ultimatum it was her or the bucket. She left early last year.....
What a bummer! Did you get it afloat again?
on the next tide. Turns out someone had moved it to there. Funny old world.....nevemind. They meant well I guess. I have moved the boat on now......
Best you sort this out ASAP! That is a hazard for all boats moored in Scoots and Jamison's. You can't just anchor it and leave it like you have done, especially in the weather we have had. We had 40knots blowing through here Thursday and Friday, 35knts on Saturday, that looks like a lot of warp and minimal chain to your anchor. I'm local and concerned for our boat and others which luckily haven't been hit and damaged by your unattended anchor vessel during foul weather. If you need any help, let me know. I can see if I can help in any way. Sorry you've found your boat like that, but ending up on the mud without causing damage to other vessels is the best place to end up. Lets get it on a mooring!!
It's already sorted. Thank you
Totally agree, people who do things like this are making floating mines for the rest of us. The anchor is likely well undersized and im picking no anchor light too. Jason should know better so lets hope he tells himself that in the future too
@@Michael-by4jw Hey actually I got it out of there on the next tide and it turns out that it didn't drag anchor at all, but that someone had actually moved it to that position (They meant well be doing so but just made a mistake) It did seem curious as its mud holding there and the anchor was buried well in it. But anyway..... the boat belongs to someone else now.
@mycrazyboatlife gesus he sounds as bad as Christians. Theres a Townson going cheap on trademe. Buy that and you'll never have to spend so much on Trademe fees ever again
@@mycrazyboatlife i saw your boat Sarina or whatever shes called in Russell today. Shes now got a red boot stripe and looks wonderful
That was fun but how much was it?
Of all the boats you showcase or ramble about. None of them run or can keep up with your mouth. You talk to much. Simply put you give me a bloody headache. Let's see you under the boat actually doing some work🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi bud what did this one fetch for
Hi jason would you be interested in buying back a H28 you sold me in good con
hey. u mean tiamarama?
Question...Do you have to register a boat you buy.. or are the SR14 (owner) and SR4 (purchaser) forms + fee enough?...Are you selling any other boats apart from salt house atm?
What boats do you have for sale atm Jason
Great vids and info bud just subscribed...hey just wondering did you see the Alan wright 7.7 for sale the other day on trade me..

@@Henry-go2ll yeah I did see that. It did seem like a good buy. Well sort of. A couple of months ago one called albion sold at auction for about 1800 at mildor marina. it had a working motor had been well taken care of and was in good nick. that was the real bargain. Wow...that blew me away that did. When I started sailing those trackers were worth about 20 k plus!

Goat Island! Some nice snorkelling there. We used to visit Goat Island when we lived in Auckland. Some good cockling on nearby beaches too! Many a feast we dug up from the sand back in the day.
Admire u being out there, doing it. I just sit home and look at boats on trade me. Use my age (old) & health (obese) as an excuse. What yacht is that? ( u have so many). Cheers JD.
Mongo. A cal 27. Thanks. A lot of people go a lot further than I do, and some don't go as far on their boats. It's a hard job I reckon deciding between if you should do more or less or be happy with what you do and are lucky enough to get to do. Sometimes i feel lucky. Other times I feel a bit held back, by fear or life or money or whatever. It's a funny old world, and a funny old experience being a human on it!
at least you are doing it! @@mycrazyboatlife
Revised title: I drilled another hole in the water into which I shall pour more money.
Hi Jason. You always have so much on the go! I'll be heading to Mahurangi end of next week for my first visit to Puddle Jumper since I bought it from you.. so excited but of course very scared since I haven't been on the water in 20+ years :)
Nice, that has a lot of potential.
Your amassing your own personal Armada!! Fleet admiral of Mahurangi. 😅
what about raft them up then raise both the mainsails like a biplane rig catamaran? and maybe tie the tillers to that boat hook so you can steer them both at once?
Interesting. Would that work? Kind of like making it into a catamaran? Towing worked though. Thankfully the wind didn't come up right until i got into Mahurangi harbor. I was lucky though. it could have been a lot harder. I'll take it of the water over winter and give it a new life. Probably at the concrete works. I like that place.
@@mycrazyboatlife probably not but it might be fun to try? actually I once sailed my catamaran a short distance with a smaller multihull rafted to the side! but a multihull has enough stability on it's own that the masts wouldn't bang into each other. hmm I bet it would work if you just set the sails on the leeward boat, but steer on both? or set up something (like a pole) to stop the masts hitting each other. light wind only, obviously! I like your method of towing using the anchor so that you can anchor the boat when you want to stop towing! I am sure I will find my self using that one day!
