I have a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB SATA hard drive and an Intel i5 dual core processor running High Sierra 10.13.6. It is in almost mint condition as it was barely used. A friend owned it from new and recently upgraded to a new Mac. I am considering upgrading it. I have 3 questions if I may. 1. Do I need to have 16 GB of RAM and an SSD to run the current version of Sonoma? 2. Will Sonoma coupled with 16 GB of RAM cause issues for the i5 processor and would I be better with just 8GB? 3. The battery is only at 53% health but is only showing 115 cycles! Seems odd to me but I will be replacing that regardless. Thank you.

Amazing video, because i'm watching this on this MacBook as i speak. Yes, it take a very long time to load, and i need to clean it up, but its still good enough for browsing and basic things. I run the Chrome browser. It's still quite fast despite its age. Nothing else i can do really since i can't really sell. No point selling it for 50 bucks. I think the longevity of this machine is due to a solid build and my early upgrade of its RAM to 16gb. Ever since, its been a power house.

can you upgrade a MacBook Pro 13" 2015 8gb from monterey to ventura?

i also just received my 2015 macbook pro 15" with the 2.5ghz, 16gb and dedicated gpu, for $80 from ebay. the caveat, it has a broken screen, no wi-fi card and no ssd. but the top case, keyboard/trackpad and the bottom case are all still decent. no deep scratches, no dents. after i replaced the lcd, installed the wifi and 2tb ssd, i went ahead and installed sonoma. i am typing this now using the macbook and everything is running smoothly. only thing is the fan would kick up some times especially when i am watching youtube videos. but, it does not bother me. i prefer using this now as compared to my 2017 macbook pro 15". if and when open core stops supporting this, i will go ahead and install linux mint on this thing.

And everything just started working so cool that I was surprised/ Monterey was hot / I'm very pleased and everything works just perfect /

Every day i get messages from my MBP to upgrade to Sonoma. My question is: Can i upgrade using "System Update" in MacOS or do i have to use OCLP? Thanks!

I've got Windows 11 on mine...it handles it quite well. these are strong. I like their thermal handling...unlike 2017+ I've got a MacBook air m2 too and I seriously prefer these. it runs windows 11 better than Mac os
