    What problems was your Kandi having when the high voltage control box went bad? Was it just not turning on at all, was it having issues driving? Curious what symptoms a bad high voltage control box would cause

      Good information. I bought a Kandi cowboy at an auction for $5k and it had some problems that were difficult to diagnose. Thankfully my father in law also bought one that was ready to go at the same auction and we used his to trouble shoot mine. Two main issues it was having was it wouldn’t charge (ended up being a cable under the hood that was plugged in on mine and not on his that somehow prevented mine from charging. How that makes sense I don’t know but apparently this connection isn’t necessary and will actually prevent charging from initiating if the cable is plugged in). Second issue was little or no power when in drive mode. Turns out this was motor controller problems and had to replace the front motor controller which fixed the issues. I still think my Kandi is underpowered or struggles when put under a heavy load (attempting full throttle when climbing a hill or starting out on an incline) but it functions well enough I can use it for getting around on our farm. Keep the videos coming!

    Pulling the hill one time is not the issue. can it pull that hill all day long back to back till the battery is drained or does it over heat and shut down and go into protection mode after about the fifth time. Even some high dollar name brand machines have this problem but not all. and for it not to have a low gear! hahahaha i can see where it might have a place for some people but not for someone who trail rides a lot on big hills or pulls a heavy load all day like on a farm. i do think it's cool though but i also think most of the time you get what you pay for and as you say it's cheap.

      @@ChrisRiley3D-Everything Good morning Chris... Check out my other videos. I live in the mountains, so yes, every move I make in this machine is either up or down hill. It does the job that I ask it to do. Yes, a lower gear would be nice for extra pulling and going down hill with a load. But like anything else... you learn how to use your tool to get the best results. I don't believe I ever used the word cheap. This machine is very well built. I've had my Cowboy for about 6 months and I agree with you. I am very satisfied with it. It goes everywhere I want to go on my ranch. It will not go up the side of a mountain but that is not what i bought it for. I also think the biggest improvement would be to have a low gear, but for the price this machine can't be beat. Reggie came out to do a flash fix on the 12 volt battery staying charged when the machine is not operating. Great guy and that little problem was sloved.

    Hey Rex, Another update. A buddy and I went on a local 4-wheel trail today, 6-7 on a 10 scale. It was a fairly steep grade with LOTS of rocks (up to basketball and bigger) . I was taking it easy, 3-4 MPH when about a mile into the trail everything just stopped. No forward, just a little reverse. I got turned around and was feeling lucky that there was a lot of downhill back to the shop. After just a few minutes, the screen blinked, and all was well again. We came back to the road, went about two miles and went on another much gentler trail 4-5. But we still were pulling some grade and driving slowly. Everything blinked out again a couple of times and my buddy, an electrician, guessed that the problem was overheating, perhaps in the throttle pedal? When this happened, we'd let it set for just a few minutes and all would be well. We had no problem at all back on the road for the ten miles home. Have you heard about this? Thanks B

    In response to Mr. Colostrum’s question about the windshield: It is a plexiglass type windshield. The Cowboy I bought is not approved for public road use, and I don’t use it on public roads except sometimes for short distances.

    In response to Mr Colossal re charging with a 220 v charger: I have a 220v 40amp charger that I use for my EV car and have been using it to charge my Cowboy with no problem. Can’t be specific about the time it takes compared to a 110v charger, but I’m sure it’s much quicker and it certainly has worked fine for me since purchasing my Cowboy last November. I can’t address the other questions he asked, I don’t know how those things work.

    Does anyone here know answers to the following: Are the disc brakes hydraulic? Will a 220V EV charger with JL1772 charge it faster than 8 hours? Is the rear differential open or locked? Can the front differential be locked? Can it run in 2WD? If purchased with the sound system, is it factory installed and integrated into the touch screen? Is there an option for a glass windshield? Thanks in advance for any responses.

      Hydraulic, yes. Comes with a 220 adapter. Does it charge faster?.... I don't know. Locked, no. It's all wheel drive all the time. Didn't know they offered a sound system. Cool 😎 Glass windshield. Don't know. I hope this helps and thanks for watching ✌️

      I have no dog in this fight. Came across the KANDI by chance when were considering another CF Moto. Couldn't find any video information other than the KANDI site. So I thought I would share my experience so people could make a more informed decision on these machines. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching ✌️

    Under the hood is a 12 volt battery. Disconnect it to reset the brain. Also make sure that battery has a good charge. It is not charged by plugging it in. Operating the vehicle on a regular basis keeps that battery charged. As far as lack of power at times... Try stopping and give the brakes a good push and then be deliberate when releasing and going to the gas pedal. There's something in that transition between the two. I don't know why. At least that's the quirk with mine 🤪 But definitely check out your 12 volt battery. I hope this helps and thanks for watching ✌️

    Just got a Kandi Cowboy, for some reason when going in to drive or reverse, there is severely reduced power and the vehicle will barely move. Battery status screen shows a fault code of 0000 but I can’t find anywhere that tells me what this code indicates. I do notice on the 10” screen that when going into forward or reverse, the D or the R never become highlighted. Curious if you have any advice. I just emailed Kandi Support but not expecting a quick response based on what I’ve seen online. May try to call tomorrow once their support line opens.

    I am seriously considering buying the Cowboy for use on my 25-acre property in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in California. I have a Polaris Ranger now, but want to go electric. I wonder about storing the Cowboy outside all year long. I can park it near enough to the house so that I can keep the 12V charged, but it is too wide to get into the utility door or my garage. What is your experience with storing the Kandi outdoors, or do you have a garage for it.

    • @thekingrexway
      @thekingrexway Před 3 měsíci

      My unit is not garage kept and it has done well 👍 We had a few days this winter that were down in the single digits 🥶 and the KANDI performed well. We've had some big spring rains and I've not occurred any I'll effects. That being said... keeping it in the elements has dulled some of the finish and there's some screws showing some rust. I run it every day, charge every 10 - 15 days and it's performing well. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching ✌️

      @@thekingrexway Thanks. Your videos are extremely helpful and lend credibility to the Kandi Cowboy. The problem is that the Cowboy seems too good to be true. If I compare specs to the nearest competition, it has twice the battery capacity and more load capacity and is much better equipped for about half the price. Seems too good to be true! Maybe not. Thanks again. (Duplicate of reply from another google ID.)

      @@SteveSmallcombe-xf2js what the Cowboy lacks is true fourwheel drive and overall brute power. If you're not wanting to do jumps and doughnuts and the like . The KANDI makes a fine little workhorse.

      @@thekingrexway I believe that both front and back wheels are driven, but there is no locking differential. Correct? I don't think that is a problem for me as I don't go mudding but typically on fairly solid ground, albeit with some short but steep hills.

    Does customer service require you verify your purchase with them somehow before they will send you replacement parts? I bought one of these at an auction and just curious if I will get warranty support even though didn’t buy from an “authorized seller”

    • @thekingrexway
      @thekingrexway Před 3 měsíci

      Yes. They ask for the VIN number and that tells them the owner, your address and phone number associated with the vehicle. That's the short answer anyway. I understand that there are other places to acquire parts but I haven't gotten a name on that yet. Congratulations on your new ride and thanks for watching ✌️
