I haven't heard anything about the age of spores. As a matter of fact I heard that year old spores work just fine.

Keep it simple: inoculate your grain of choice. Bulk spawn to pastuerized, soaked wild bird seed with some vermiculite (minus black sunflower seeds) , case with pasteurized coir or more vermiculite. The mixed birdseed has all the nutrients and the other 2 hold moisture. Pull 2 good flushes with a week of stragglers pushing through. Throw that crap in the garden and repeat. Nothing to it, if your jars are clean you'll outgrow contamination after bulk spawning. 2 months start to finish, cheap, easy and effective. Stop chasing mythical results.

Hey I had a grain bag w some wet rot and a lot of v healthy mycelium. I mixed it into substrate and it did smell for a bit but now the smell is gone and the cake looks amazing. Should I be worried about the fruits having some toxins from the wet rot? Can the mycelium eat the bacillus and any toxins they would have thrown? Any tips on what to do w the fruits? I have a feeling they are going to “look” v healthy and don’t want to waste the bag I’ve had a hard time salvaging this strain! Thank u!!!
