OK I feel old - seeing 125s in to preservation does that to a fellow. How I used to laugh at those old duffers saying the same things about their silly old steam locos lol. And then, a Paxman Valenta engined unit... oh that scream.

Great to see that some of the EMR units are still around. I might've even ridden this one to and from Sheffield when it was in service! Definitely miss how comfortable they were!

I didn’t expect the engine room cam but that was a brilliant decision. That VP185 sounded like a 2 cylinder Gardener engine before the other 10 pistons roared to life.

Theres nothing better than this listening to the start of these to brighten your day.

I ran very quiclky up onto platform 2 oneday in 1976 to see the ass end of one of these making a great sound and dissapearing dowm the platform, never forget it, the first sighting of one. Still the fastest diesel in the west lol. All things come to an end and in this case are not taken over by anything better which is sad..BYe BYe HST x

May I ask what the deal is with the EMR branded 125 please?. I thought that all the valentas had been removed so why does this 125 still have one?. Was this reinstated after preservation or did EMR not bother upgrading their HST's?. Just curious as the Scotrail (ex GWR) units are loud and smokey but nothing like this! Lol.

So nice to see these iconic beautiful British transport legends preserved. Which restoration path are these power cars undertaken? I look forward to my full 2023 range Hornby Intercity 125 western region BR Blue with the two class 43 power cars and 7 MK3s, and the IC 125 executive livery with the two power cars and 8 MK3s.

I really miss this stock. Loved hearing expansion joints again.

These are still used in Australia for intercity services, rebadged XPT.

It kinda fills me with despair when I recall a time when the IC125 had yet to be introduced (and I was a 12-year-old kid), and now they exist on heritage lines. I feel TOO old.
