Planars are very easy to eq and they can keep up with busy tracks. Fortunately for us, 2024 is a good year for planar fans. I love the look.

How does this compare to the Artti T10?

Is the 12 or 10 p2 better there the same price fir me

Just ordered mine after holding off for a few days. TDM You hit the nail on the head for me with this review! I don’t use the “features” I use my DAPs for sound. I just use Local files only and mostly just playing from folders. 3.5/4.4 is my must have but I couldn’t care less if they are top or bottom. All my DAP use is on the go so pocketable size is a priority. Hiby R3g2 and Shanling M1s are my most used DAPs so I’m hoping this M1 Plus is a noticeable step up from the M1s. If not, oh well, still gonna use this thing and I’m sure I’ll live it like the M1s…..

Big question though, is it any different sound-wise than the S12 Pro original?

I've been waiting for your opinion on this as I know you tend to not be too crazy about planars but I figured if TDM loved and singed the S12 2024 praises then I'm not crazy thinking this is the best planar I have heard. Excellent video btw, thanks TDM!

So glad you enjoyed this one as much as me! I have been screaming its praises from the rooftops since I got it. Now that more impressions are rolling in, it feels good to be validated.

At 11:07 "the IEM will take on more of the characteristics of the source" .... My Tangzu Wan'er also sounds differently when listening directly from my laptop vs via a DAC dongle connected to the same laptop. Don't think this is the characteristics specifically to S12 2024.

I have Michael Bruce’s ultimate tuning of this driver variant the S12 Nobody coming to me. He has golden ears and great tuning chops.

The S08 is one of my favorite but it sucks that it didn't fit me as well as Explorer or I would've kept it

I totally agree with you about the s08, it did not sound good to my ears. I didn't keep it.

I also tried the letshouer s08 recently, and it was a big disappointment for me too. I hope this one is better.

I'm really loving the 2024. Any hobbyist that has the means should pick one up while they're available.

you have to swipe from the bottom right corner to the middle and do the same for the bottom left corner. Then the respective page menu appears. Yes, it is a bit difficult to understand at first.

I just have Tempotec BHD and Tempotec E44. To be honest, I'm curious about this HZSound Luna so can hzsound luna unleash its maximum potential with those 2 dongles?

Which smaller Luna or S12 2024?

And how can I change the battery? There are no screw to open the device. I believe everything is glued. If the capacity of the battery is very low I can only send the device back to the manufacturer to replace the batty and that will be very expensive. So after 3 Years operation I have another electronic waste. Other DAP, like iBasso DX 260 and also Astell&Kern, have the option to replaced the battery.

Good detail, but too bright for me

@Tone Deaf Monk Unrelated a bit to this video , yes, your dead on about the DX180 .... did not really hear it till today, though I had it for over a month. Who knows, maybe the break in period was a bit longer for me... or my ears just needed to grow up a bit... good stuff as usual.

Suggest an iem with thumpy bass, exceptional sound clarity, wide soundstage and instrument separation, non piercing treble and comfortable to wear under 60$

As far as i am concerned, EW300(OG) has slightly different tuning than EW300 xHBB which happened to be the same set on DSP variant. i have EW300-DSP and i am not impressed by it. What imean by that.., there is/are something about the sound that appeals to me but at the same time turns me off (for both tuning nozzles). .. i am not able to pinpoint the issue though. .. to an extent i probably prefer KZ PR1 Pro over EW300. Anyway, EW200 'Maze' is A LOT brighter than EW300 'XOXO' on both tuning nozzles. Right now EW200 'Maze' which i deem still my most favorite IEM (after trying the 'XOXO') is just 1/3rd of the selling price of EW300 DSP. On my side, this is a tough sell, however it provides probably the best value for money in terms of tuning variations. IMO, EW300 'XOXO' is probably an easy sell to those who don't really have a lot of IEMs in their collection. And i do agree about those launch package that consist of THREE variants was a messed up planning. IMO, "DSP" variant should have been named "xHBB". i would rather to have SIMGOT to just include the DSP cable in both EW300(OG) and EW300 xHBB (of course include the normal cable as well). Then sell both at the same price or increase the price for the COLLAB variant a bit.

Monk, you had me right up until you brought the S08 into the picture, and said it was "too rolled off". Yes, the high end is reduced, and that is specifically dampened to reduce much of that "planar glare" that so many people complain about as sounding unnatural. Yourself included. Which the S08 resolved very convincingly. Removing that glare greatly improved the overall totality and timbre of the set. So to then draw a comparison to the EA300 on its timbre, which i fully believe there is an argument to be made there, and make a comparative comment about the S08 strikes me as odd. Thats like complaining a dish is too spicey, so they rework the dish to be less spicey, and then you complain its too bland, and lacks flavor...or is it flavour... I can never remember with you damn Canadians. Maybe the issue isn't the spice, and it's that you just dont like curry or szechuan? Or you have become too jaded by KilloBuck Carne Asada, that you can't find anything palatable at Taco Bell anymore with the rest of the plebs? For me, there will always be a place for the Cruch Wrap Supreme at my table. And, yes, I did just call the EA300 a Cruch Wrap Supreme, and I regret nothing.

how does the EW300 compare to the Artti R1? (edit: would be interesting to have a video comparing all IEMs on the 70 USD price range) I was kinda suspicious how everyone was praising the ew300 to high heavens and I am glad you are pointing out the shortcomings Maybe i'll get tanchjim 4U during aliexpress november sale instead
