Crusin' Gimli Beach Car Show 2024
Hey folks! Summer season is upon us, and that means it's time to shine up and show off those classic cars! Here's a little something I was up to last weekend. Got my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am ready for the season, and headed off to the Crusin' Gimli Beach Car Show. The turnout was fantastic with nearly 400 entries! There was a great mix of vintage and new vehicles, with everything from clean classics to hopped up hotrods. Hope you enjoy checking out these beautiful rides, amidst the backdrop of my favorite little beach town that I grew up in.
Let me know in the comments if you'd like a video on how I like to get my car ready for the summer season.
(Don't worry, we'll get back to more of our regular content as the summer goes on!)
Huge shout out to the @GimliCarClubIncGimli for putting on a fantastic event!

    Great video! Gave me the confidence to tackle mine. Will repaint after that but having a hard time finding suitable paint as I initially thought it’s made of fiberglass, turned out it is thermoplastic after a hot needle test. From the drilling in your video and the ‘curly’ debris that came out, it seems like yours might be plastic too? It didn’t look like drilling through gelcoat on fiberglass. Wonder if you have looked into the kind of paint to use for your next project. I looked into many brands like INSL-X (incl. epoxy paint), but all of them only mention concrete, plaster, gunite and fiberglass, but never plastic. The only other product mentioned it is the Olympic step renew but too bad it’s a challenge to get in Canada. Anyhow, thanks for the video.

    Actually, it is Dale, Kathleen's husband. I finally finished filling the area under my steps with spray foam. I used 26 cans of spray foam (6 large cans). There is still one area on the side of the steps I need to fill. There is cracked concrete above the void I need to remove. I plan to fill that area with dry concrete. As I watch this again it reminds me of your advice on wearing gloves. After numerous trips to the store for additional cans of spray foam and getting it on my hands I noticed my rubber gloves off to the side. Now I just had a delivery of 6,000 gallons of water to fill my pool. Hopefully the leaks are fixed.

They flexed whenever anyone used them. I will be out this weekend drilling holes and shooting in spray foam. I am sure it will save me thousands of dollars. I also have a long crack (one meter) on the top step. I think I will drill holes along the crack to relive the pressure from the foam pushing up so it doesn't deform the step.

      My gut says do the spray foam first. If you are using a lower expansion foam it's going to take the path of least resistance and if it's pushing up against the fiberglass I bet there is enough rigidity there to hold the shape. Once you get the foam in and it's solid then I would just the epoxy or an actual fiberglass patch. You got this!!! Let us know how you make out with the repair!

    MEK is the primary ingredient of PVC cement which actually welds the PVC together by dissolving some of it. I’m not a chemist but mixing PVC cement with the ABS pellets may work as well. However, what ever is used a respirator is essential. MEK will get you higher than a kite.

    I’m a DIYer and while I was watching the video I am wondering, why not fill the void with something non porous? With spray foam, as you step on it, the foam will be compressed down more and more, and the void will return. Why not fill the void with a self-leveling epoxy cement patch? It would hopefully bond to the cement underneath and prevent you from having to do this again in a year or two. I know it’s more expensive, but it might be a better long term option. Please correct me if there are issues I am not seeing with this.

    • @RegsChannel

      The challenge is there is no cement under those fiberglass stairs it's mostly sand,maybe a touch of aggregate. Lol! Thanks for the kind words! My tub is a Sundance, so basically a jacuzzi clone lol 😂 if it minor leaks everywhere (and not pump seals) this stuff could be a HUGE help: ( Marlig Industries Pool and Hot Tub Leak Sealer from Fix A Leak - 1 Litre / 32 oz Bottle a.co/d/jfpyEWf ) I've used it in the past and it's done a solid job! Just know that once you've used it and got the links under control do a water change... Your arm/leg hair will thank you lol!

      The info on the connectors on the edges was key. I got the camera swapped in about 45 min. I tried a leak seal fluid on hot tub a couple times but it did not seem to last. May have been sprouting other leaks. Several of the small jets drip. As well as my filter box. Hard to find parts. And when I do they are $$$$

      @@stephenchico2418 right on glad to hear you got it done! Yeah the older tubs do require a bit of TLC but once you get them right, you are good to go! I learned most of what I know by having to replace literally every part of mine lol!

    I’ve been stirring for 40 minutes. Pellets do t seem to want to dissolve???

    • @RegsChannel
      @RegsChannel Před měsícem

      We have to be sure they are 100 percent ABS pellets... If they are taking that long to dissolve that may be an issue. Give it some time and see if they dissolve.

    OK, this shows that it is as hard as you think. Why would they make the camera so inaccessible?

    • @RegsChannel
      @RegsChannel Před měsícem

      Because it's a Chrysler product? Lol yeah I was asking myself the same thing once I dug into it. I honestly considered drilling out the plastic lens and pumping epoxy or something in there to fill that gap... I still have the old camera who knows might be time to experiment!

    • @neszero
      @neszero Před 14 dny

      @@RegsChannel I've read elsewhere online that it's actually the backside of the camera where the wiring enters the camera housing that is the weak point. Condensation will collect and drip down the back into the cracks. Apparently some folks have used a hair dryer to dry the unit out, or even removed it and baked it in their oven! Then it's just a matter of hitting that weak point with some silicone before you re-install it. Dreading taking mine apart, but your video definitely helped. Anyway, I'm sure you're sick of hearing about this particular problem at this point though, haha.

    @RegsChannel How has the repair held up? Also, how long should you wait to let the repair cure before filling with water? I have a crack in the side of my skimmer that I need to repair quickly so that I don’t spend the repair money on a water bill. 😅 This looks like the best, most durable solution I have found.

    • @RegsChannel
      @RegsChannel Před 2 měsíci

      Repair has held up fantastic! The longer you give it the better but I would want to give it at least a solid 24 hours. I was in the same boat as you it was insane how much money I saved on the water bill alone!

    Nice job! What if there’s a double switch also controls the exhaust fan in the bathroom? Is it possible to get a dimmer that only affects the LED light while the first switch only turns the fan on and off?

    • @RegsChannel
      @RegsChannel Před 2 měsíci

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words. Just so I'm clear, are you saying that you have 2 separate switches, one for the light, the other for the fan? Or are the fan and light both wired to the same switch. If they are both wired to the same switch that might be a challenge as I don't think the fan is going to like that very much... Clarify the setup for me and I'll do some digging and see what is out there! I know Lutron makes a fancy switch called a "Caseta" that might be the ticket? Let me know!

    What did you use to cover the tub in the meanwhile

    • @RegsChannel
      @RegsChannel Před 2 měsíci

      Hi there, you can use either the existing cover shell or a tarp. Just remember you won't get the same level of thermal insulation and the tub will run more. Could also be a good time to shit the tub down for a water change or any other preventative maintenance you may need to carry out. Hope that helps!
