What’s the center brass piece visible at 9:08? Does that need to be removed during cleaning? I pulled one off of a similar movement I was tinkering with because the wheel would come off below it. Have I wrecked it?

I know this is an older video. Bought a Chinese version of this kit that has more extractors and a proper stand for them. Was impressed by the quality even though it was from China. They are on eBay. Cheers!

In 2024 I ordered similar parts. I ordered the same case in rose Gold and the same appearing movement. I ordered a black pilots watch style dial that came with the correct hands. Finding a strap with a rose Gold buckle was difficult especially considering I have large wrists and wanted an extra long strap. Even if I could use a standard length strap in the last hole I hate how the end keeps falling out of the keeper. I got the pilots watch style dial and hands because I wanted the luminous feature to read the watch at night. The case retailer said the case water resistance is 3 ATM but seeing that there are no rubber seals I think I will be taking this off to wash my hands. Thanks for the video. I was already subscribed. I have build several NH35 watches but this will be my first ETA / ST movement watch. I like the big dial so I can read the time without my glasses and as I mentioned, with my large wrists I can pull it off comfortably. Thanks again.

I have a Seiko Kinetic Cal.5J22A. The second hand runs smoothly but the hour and minute hands do not move. what's the solution?

My opinion about Chinese movements and oil are as follows. The final step before final assembly is to dip the movements in a solvent with oils incorporated, then just spin and dry. Almost all of the Chinese movements I have worked on, came with an abundance of oil and fingerprints. In truth I find that, although the parts are not beautifully embellished, they are usually well made and functional parts. Some careful cleaning and gentle touches yield good results.

The movement on your "fake" watch can be considered genuine as NH movements are indeed made by Seiko themselves. If I'm not mistaken, the "fake" watch is a "mod" watch having it priced low. Just an unpopular opinion. 😊

Огромное спасибо ! Единственная доступная инструкция, которую смог найти. Рекомендую вместо пинцета пользоваться ушком иголки или какой-то проволочкой с не острым концом, касаясь контакта и ребра батареи, т.к. пинцетом легко повредить контакты (у меня на них уже очень много следов).
