It’sa shame that Vinnie was his own worst enemy….i have heard some of his music and I can hear that he really did have some legitimate talent,but he never seemed to gain the skill of being able to self edit… While I realize that the 80s were the period of the guitar hero,and I certainly love a blazing guitar solo as much as anyone….but people can’t forget that A) most of the people listening are not musicians and have no idea as to what you’re doing…. B) even someone like Yngwie varies his solo phrases between fast and slow….they aren’t just a million notes coming at your ear at the same time! Towards the end,he was sounding like someone who has only played for 2-4 years and just playing whatever notes his fingers happened to land on as quickly as possible…..and that will impress your friends …excesses of super fast and super loud are very appealing to a 15-20 year old boy,but most people aren’t going to like it…and even the ones THAT Do like it,aren’t going to be able to be able to just kick back on their couch ,put on earphones and listen to a whole side of the album….ifs just like eating a chocolate cake….it’s delicious,but if you just eat it as fast as you can,and eat as much as you can,it’s certainly not going to be as enjoyable.
