Beautiful rendition I miss the choir in MVC we sang this before.

I remember this song, but my choir teacher actually had us sing it slower. I think we might have held those notes 1.5 beats longer. It ended up creating an eerie atmosphere with the change.

Disclosure I’ve dealt with this in my choir but it feels very odd to be singing these songs with no one in the choir that resembles the original singers.

I hope that everyone who sings this spiritual does so with the voice of those who originally sang it, remembering the reasons. Not just to use this song for the glory of their own talent and vocalbeauty. It would be easy to do so, but we must remember whose voices this was for. ✝️ ❤ 🙏

This song is breathtaking, literally, singing it requires highly trained breathing techniques and they nailed it, I would know, because i'm singing it in bass right now. I love the song so much though! I can't wait to sing it in concert.
