I don't like the type lumina comparison. They strive'd the fuck out of that game. I'd drop UNI in a heartbeat, faster than a heartbeat, if they did that to it for the sake of attracting casuals. Sure you gain players for < a month, but in the end you're left with your 50 concurrent users and a game that most of the core fanbase doesn't like. Miss me with that dumb shit. Sometimes the core components of your fighting game just don't appeal to people who don't want to play fighting games. I don't know why we want their participation so much when that shit inevitably lasts a week or two. Also also FighterZ was hard carried by its IP, advertising, and visual presentation. Take the IP away and the game would experienced a drastic dropoff within a year.

As a Seth player. Yes, that is EXACTLY what i say every match and im not joking. PLEASE push a fucking button with my partner behind me. You walked into this match thinking this was a 1v1 and it truly isn’t. But Seth definitely is weaker this version if you consider what other characters can do now. Still great, cant combo off the checkmate scenarios anymore like u said, but still can ruin your day. In exchange we got a crossup overhead blink that we can make safe and combo off of without meter, and more ridiculous set ups.

Been really wanting to get good with her, since she's a character I've wanted to be playable for quite a while and she's SUPER fun. Glad to see some more useful guides like this!

While the buffs Carmine got are nice, I think they mostly amount to quality of life improvements. They aren't going to make him drastically stronger or really change his combo routes imo.

I love the combo variety this character offers with the poison routes. You can route into j.236a early on and pick up with 3C or 22b to steal GRD and make sure you win the cycle.

Carmine player here. I agree that the buffs were kinda unnecesarry however I disgree with the opinion that he lost his uniqeness. First off you were off with his vorpal trait. Without vorpal every dissolve move costs 300 vit whilst in vorpal it's 150. Normal throw and 5BBB regain 400 vit (I think) whilst 214BC does 1200. I only scratched the (bad) surface of what you can do with 5BBB being special cancelable but from what it looks like you can get some health back for below 3k damage combo that costs 100 exs. Generally I don't think Carmine should go for heal combos but that does not mean the buff is useless. 5BB is often canceled into 22X which is plus, thus players often shield there, this is where 5BBB command grab comes in handy since it grd breaks. This buff just makes gambles more in Carmine's favor since now he can convert that into damage more reliably (before he had to have chain shift ready to do a combo) and swap sides if he was doing corner pressure. In the Carmine is just an even bigger tormentor, HYAHAHAHA BE DEVOURED!!!

A very cool video. I'm a French player since the previous opus and I play Phonon (Indiana Jones fan since I was little, I'm 41 years old, if there's a character with a whip I have to play him). I don't know if you can make a video about this, but I was looking on the EVO website to see when UNI would be streaming and from what I saw, it's not even on the schedule. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but I do want to watch the tournament, and I legitimately can't find when it's streaming anywhere. This is incredibly frustrating to me...

Im going to make the attempt to pick up UNI2 again during or after EVO. Hopefully, more new players will give the game a shot during that time. How long this will last is up to speculation.

I'm a Hyde main and even I can say his chip damage is broken af. In BBTAG, it's kind of a different ball game because many of the characters have cheap and bullshit gimmicks that can down one of your characters at full health during the beginning of the match (NAOTO!) So you have to play cheap with Hyde's chip damage in that game. UNI is a lot different because (if I remember correctly), Hyde is the only character in the game that has massive chip damage. That alone makes him incredibly broken, and because the majority of his start up moves lead to massive combos with very few ways to punish Hyde if he misses. Yeeeah, to me, he is one of the most broken if not THE most broken character in the game. The only way I can see them balancing Hyde better at this point is to get rid of his chip damage entirely. Unless French Bread incorporates a mechanic somehow where Hyde is punished for applying chip damage to a blocking opponent. I don't see how they can fix this unless they make the majority of Hyde's moves more punishable and he's their MC, so there totally not going to do that. He really does have no flaws at this point and that's going to hurt the meta later down the line where characters like Orie and Mika needs some serious help.

There's no point in looking up guides for characters if there's not an adequate amount of new players to fight and practice with. That is the main problem, along with the game not having cross console play online. Until French Bread or the UNI community tries to push this game more towards casuals. It will never succeed, and that's just the fact of the matter. It doesn't matter how many 'easy' characters they put into UNI2. If the UNI community consists of nothing but veteran players who will beat down new players without mercy. The UNI community will never grow.

Ive bought a lot of fighting games but I tend to only dump a few weeks into each one before I eventually drop it entirely. Pretty bad spending habit on my part. that being said, is this game still pretty active on playstation? I'm terrible at fighting games which is probably why I end up dropping them but im trying to be smarter about this purchase. You think this gane will be too hard for a noob, will the online be too sweaty for me to enjoy it?

I wish there was a Japanese weekly or monthly to look forward to. It’s hard finding content regularly to look forward to.

I find it so odd how I try to CZcams “guide of ____” character from uni and there is 1 video if I’m lucky. And it’s just combos with not commentary.

I'm someone who is new to UNI2 and really, REALLY wanted to learn and play it after spending thousands of hours with BBTAG. It's extremely unfortunate that THIS is how French Bread decided to create their sequel, their last game in the series. Like you said, they should have revamped it from the ground up and that's just not what we got. Instead, for me personally, everything involving UNI2 is worse in comparison to UNICLR. I have sunk in a dozen or so hours into that version...but's its enough to recognize UNI2's flaws. The horrific art work, the missing music tracks, the opening that's missing a hype song, the terrible UI, the character portraits not being in the opening, IP being essentially useless because everything is either unlocked or we have already seen the same artwork prior. Hell, even some of the moves to the characters I main are kind of just like "Did Hyde really need another spacing tool? He has like four or five other ones that do a better job." Also, giving Hyde and Linne specifically multiple different endings feels like such a copout to me. Linne had forced Hyde to promise to kill her after Keon was taken down and the fact that was never followed through to the end is really upsetting to me. I thought Under Night was more daring than this. I wanted to see Hyde come to terms with killing Linne...but I guess not. This is just one of the endings, or multiple endings in Hyde's case, that I take issue with But for me personally. What killed my enjoyment of the game are two or three things. 1.) The lack of new, casual players to fight so I can properly learn the game 2.) The lack of new and interesting character interactions during arcade mode instead of the same characters talking to each other AGAIN, and 3.) a single player mode or modes that are not just me going into arcade or training mode for the upteenth time. I'm not saying UNI2 should do something to the scale of Brawl's subspace emissary, but I would have liked to have some sort of a story more where we saw more of the characters develop and interact with each other. Street fighter didn't start off with a story mode either I believe. Those connections and friendships took YEARS to develop, so I feel UNI2 incorporating something like this, especially if this will be the last game in the series, would have been extremely nice to see. Especially since the majority of the characters like to stay in their friend circle and that is something I wanted UNI2 to push away from. The last thing I will say is I bought the PS5 version of the game...oops. Honestly, I'm not really sorry about it because I don't particularly enjoy playing fighting games on my laptop. If I play video games, I want to see them on my big ass tv in full view, not an eighteen inch wide screen that I am afraid to knock over and break. I'm not saying it's wrong for people to flock to PC gaming, especially if the UNI community is more active on steam...but if that's the case. French Bread really needed to warn players about this somehow since cross console play is not a thing...or just put the game only one PC. I still maybe want to learn the game one day...but I'm not spending another $50 on a game I have already bought. Times are tough unfortunately and I just don't have that kind of money. I did my part and bought the PS5 version and ATTEMPTED to play. I am not going to speak much about the UNI discord. I had multiple problems with finding the right people to fight who are also new and have the PS5 version, so in the end. It didn't work for me...
