reminds me of my 1997 chevy malibu with the 3.1 liter v6. i used to race thing every saturday night and beat almost every car i went up against. it had 155 horsepower but it had 205 ftlbs of torque. that was amazing for a 90s era fwd car. but once the early 2000s ended faster cars started showing up and the 4 door family saloon was no longer winning anymore.

I saw the silver Taurus SHO w/auto trans, very cool! I had a cool 1989 SHO w/ a 5 speed manual trans The kid who sold it to me, had to get rid of it for going 130+ mph on the highway (he had legal problems) So, it costed me $650 w/ 60k rust free, and had many mods Woooo fun, cheap speed!

The 3800 is amazing smaller pulley, e85, headers, rockers, and a stall or 3.29 gears you got a low 13 second 1/4 mile car maybe even 12s with slicks that can keep up with a lot on the road couple grand and you can crack low 13s high 12s

Buicks made the best engines in 2000s dude. Mind you, the buick engines were stock, and they can take that much power That's why they so underrated, but Stock internals that can handle a supercharger easily,/ or Boost ,is a bad ass engine GM/Chevy Gang!!!

What did you do for the transmission?

Transmissions made a huge difference during this era - Was the SHO a manual or auto? (I had a 1993 Mustang with the Auto that was a dog compared to the 5-speed model)

For anyone interested in sleepers looking for something more modern than a 3800 GM sedan on a budget, I recommend taking a look at a Genesis sedan with the tau V8. the aftermarket and low cost to tune of the GM cars aren't there, but they make excellent power stock, are reliable and are fairly undervalued, you can find nice ones under 10k US. I really enjoyed mine!

Hey, you forgot a very important sleeper from back then the Ford Thunderbird SuperCoupe, the infamous V6 sleeper faster than the SHO, Mustang, Riviera, Grand prix I've got 7 of them had the Mustang HO, as well but the SC was by far the fastest a great luxurysport Cruiser 315 lbs of torque stock after all the up grades it became a legit 10sec beast with the punched out block the 4.2 crank and the Whipple supercharger I went with the 2.73 rear end while the others went with 3.73 or 4.10 I preferred the power and speed on the top end myself but they sure are fun! If any of you want a bad-ass sleeper this is the most fun😊!

DUUUUUDE yes the SHO, love it, got mine a year ago, alread put about 25k miles on it since then. got from seattle and had to learn standard to drive it back home to texas, it was fun. It does has some power, and im already thinking of some mods to add to the intake. a perfect sleeper, it hauls groceries and ass
