I’m sick of the lack of creativity and originality. COD and the battlefield franchises are just a couple for an example. The last good BF game was 4. After that-dog shit. I’ve went back to my 360 and early releases for Xbox one. I sold my Xbox series S because all it did was sit there and collect dust. Why? Because there is NOTHING worth a fuck on it. I don’t even get in on the gaming news anymore because it’s mundane. It’s uninteresting. After 2017 gaming went corporate and sold the fuck out. Thankfully there’s game pass on Xbox so if i do decide to try a new game I can at least take a shit on it for free 😂

Exploration is the best part of Bethesda games from Skyrim - Fallout 4 and I haven't done any main missions from the required ones at the start and it's just underwhelming for me finding five copy and paste mines or four identical bases.

All these issues are the weeds we can see, but pull them up and you'll see the roots of the issue, the internet no one brings this up but if this was the 90's the gaming industry would of crashed due to recalls, that to me should be the start to fixing this issue a law where you can't use patches to fix a game it's either finished or you have to refund every sale and let the consumer keep the product then you can patch it after the consumer has had there money back.

I can't believe how expensive games have gotten. $60-100 for a new game. It used to be like $30 for a new game. But I'm annoyed bc Forza 6 won't give me the car packs I paid for. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is too hard, keep getting killed by the AI for some reason. COD MWR nobody is on it anymore. COD Modern Warfare (the new one) I can't even play campaign mode after installing it once, then finding out I have to install something else. Plus it wants you to create an account to play the game. Battlefield 4 is full of campers. Battlefield 5 is full of campers, can't get kills because no hardcore mode. Whatever I'm done.

Let's have some numbers fun with this. Our solar system has 8 planets. Soo 1,000/8 = 125 systems. Now content rich planets are rare so let's go 125/11 as this is subjective to Destiny and destiny 2 for controled content. So I can expect 11 ~ 15 planets that maybe story rich. Personally I will expect 2 planets and anything else as filler.

Game industry is cancer now. It’s a mobile market in every sense of the word. When the iPhone came out in 2007, it was the beginning of the end for every entertainment industry. Laziness of both devs and publishers is the norm now.

Modern gaming sucks for the most part, but damn when the developers decide to make good games they just always takes the W, games such as: Re2r, re3r, re4r, rdr2, god of war (2018), god of war Ragnarök, Doom (2016), Doom eternal, elden ring, bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, stray, spider man, far Cry 4, far Cry 5, cuphead, breath of the wild, Mario Odyssey, ghost of tsushima, re7, RE village, spider miles Morales etc

Why do people make such dog shit . Indy devs do a better job most of the time. I fully agree. I am learning game dev because I want to bring back good games. Local multiplayer is dying and I want to change that also . The need for perfect graphics is a big reason why a lot of games suck . It’s not that 4k graphics are not good it is that 4k graphics steel the focus of creating a good game not to mention the cost of 4k graphics . With gaming going down the tube I am getting ready to get rid of a bunch of my games and consoles. I need to adult anyway. I definitely agree with you man. As a 21 year old, I don't like the corporate mentality being infused into video games now and days. It's also not the 1st and 3rd party corporations doing this, It's the people buying into this causing these half-baked games that are rushed in sake of financial profit with inhumane corporate deadlines are deminishing the entertainment value of video games as a whole. Something needs to change for sure.

It's very simple: gamers keep buying, both upfront and silly transactions. Studios have little incentive to release bug-free games on day one. They can't hear you over the sound of all the money they're making. You want quality, you have to hold out for it.

Dude the golden age era of gaming started way before you were even born and died with the freaking early access/pre-order/DLC/expansion/microtransactions shit that Steam brought to the table in 2003. Stop throwing money at those scammers once and for all.

I think the plain and simple answer is that some fat cats realized what money there was to be made in the video game industry and took over publishing studios and they know no matter what they release they'll make a return on investments. As long as people keep buying them they'll continue to be garbage.

something i noticed is that almost all of the games i play are atleast 10 years old, the newest game i play frequently is bloons td6, and thats just a mobile game ported to pc

I think the decline of game quality is directly correlated to new game engines and editors. A lot of older games were done on software that had already been out for a very long time and a lot of the time when a company released a new engine, they were the ones who made it. So they had a familiarity with the coding involved in the new tools. However, these days there are many options for tools and many new tools are made often. Which means it utilizes new code languages and scripting methods. It essentially means a lot of the cool shit from the past needs to be remade again in new languages. Which can be a monumental task.

In previous decades, game development and filmmaking had a pretty high bar to reach if you wanted to make your mark and leave a lasting impression. And this is the quality of things we've become accustomed to because it is what was required to _be_ a filmmaker or game dev. But I think creative media as a whole right now is experiencing a period of total creative bankruptcy. And frankly, it's probably largely the fault of the people who have stepped up to the plate to do it. I saw a video talking about a problem dubbed "millennial writing" which infects every inch of tripple-A games and big-name movies these days, which is indicative of the unfunny, overly sarcastic trash we've grown long and tired of. But the problem doesn't stop at the writing, it's the general lack of drive or talent in these people that just further spurs it. A number of these people graduate from colleges paid for by their successful parents, and so when they are hired into these companies, there really isn't a mentality of "sink or swim" that really motivated previous generations to put a love of labor into their craft and really make it shine. What's worse is that political signalling is now also being increasingly piled on top of this. So when combined with the general lack of skill, you get games and movies that fail because they don't gain enough attention for its ability to work as a platform for these messages, or you get games and movies that preach a political ideology that only aligns with someone who has never had to really "work hard" in the same sense as those who came before them.

This video is so true. I just play my backlog until the rare good game drops. Needless to say I'm really making a dent because good games are rare af these days. What you said about multiplayer is spot on to it's just repulsive unless you are willing to put 100s of hours in and are addicted to buying skins there is no such thing as casual fun multiplayer gaming anymore sbmm sucks it makes these titles unplayable. It's a testament how much better older multiplayer titles where greed ruins everything. Gaming has just become too corporate it's turned into a soulless product meant to make as much money as possible with minimal effort rather then passionate gamers making them. Of course money was a factor back then but games just had more soul back then because things were more smaller scale I guess.
