I recently had my deluxe 5 string jazz bass defretted, and had an epoxy coating put on the fretboard. I freakin' love it! Now I definitely find myself after the last 30 years of fretted bass playing, now focusing on Steve Bailey, Jaco Pastorius, Steve Degeorgio and Tony Franklin. Love fretless bass!

Absolutely stunned that such a gangster bassist who laid down such iconic lines on AFD would take lessons now. Listen to the isolated bass on AFD (Appetite For Destruction) and it is SO musical. Brilliant playing.

i love how duff moved to la with nothing and met slash and steven at canters. no visit to socal for me is ever complete without a canters visit. i love everything involved with the fateful meeting of the classic gnr lineup.

Great cover. We Are Chaos album has sick bass and drums. Allegedly Manson has recorded a new album in 2023 and looking for the right time and company to put it out. Let's hope we get it in 2024.

Can' t understand why he doesn't even mention Jaco...it is like to be a drummer, mention 5 guys and don' t say Buddy Rich...
Well, I play bass and won't mention Nathan East in my personal list: Jaco, Jamerson, Gary Willis, Grahm, Patitucci, Dario Deidda, Louis Johnson, Marcus, Jimmy Haslip, Jeff Andrews, Dave Carpenter, Prestia, Mark King...probably Nathan isn't in my favourite not in 5 but in 50 name list. It's my fault, I admit. I know he's a great but...I don't like his sound and, most of all, I don't like any solos of his. PS: I'm sorry but even Buddy Rich isn't in my 5 favourite drummer. 🤗
@@fabriziovincitorio9377 OK, as a matter of taste, but the guy made a school of drumming, even classical Orchestra percussionists study his snare drum playing...Rich, Roach, Kruppa, Belson, Blakey, Jo Jones and a few more...all those drummers made the jazz school of drumming, in wich all the rest of the drummers based their technique...

You persuaded me. PS: Is It possible that I don't like Nathan 's solos style because there isn't any Pastorius idea in there? Possibly. That's a curious question. @@fabriziovincitorio9377 I think musical ideas have nothing to do with the instrument, and everything to do with the composer. Do you like Coltrane's solos, let's say in Coltrane's sound or Giant Steps albums? Well they don't have Jaco's influences...the little I have listened to Easts' solos I don't like them either...I think it is about musical ideas, the same happens in other aspects, within the composers themselves, listen to a masterpiece of any composer, let's say Le Sacre du printemps, compare it with the Symphonie in C, wich is a great piece, but not a masterpiece...and we are talking about the same composer...that is why I think it is about musical ideas, development, organization and structure...listen to Jaco's first album, ideas are organized, everything is perfect...when he jams some of his solos are not the same...it is something I think of all the time...I think that is why some gigs (in general) sound boring, because musicians quit studying and preparing solos. Someone who was always that I have listened hot in jams, for example was Peterson...listen to Jaco's live in NYC vol 2, his playing in general, seems to have been thought before...there are some takes to fill the album, but in general it keeps going, I think it might go around this issues...another exampme is Monk, I have a trio album wich is a masterpiece, there is not a single note missing nor to be dismissed... listen to those albums with alternate takes, for exampme Verve's Now's the time of Parker. Solos of some takes are very similar...he wasn't jamming his solos...he had thought and ordered what he would play, I think...
