I'd swap tranny out for an 87 yz490 transmission. Kicker gears too. Only weak point on a 465

Australia had a 1986 model. We didn't get the 83 or 84 models, the 1985 was a hard to get. But the 86 sold like Hot cakes. Anthony Gobert won on them, and a late friend of mine Ian Cunningham won his class at the 1986 Australian junior motocross championship .

I owned the 85. Saved paper route money and b-day & xmas money. My mom kicked in bout 200 and i bought it in jan of 86. So it was a left-over discounted model. That little bike ripped. Was my ticket to motocross racing.

I had one of these from age 10 until age 18. I also had a RM400. I never had much like for the YZ400 as it never ran long without breaking but I absolutely loved the RM400. I know some people loved the YZ400 though.

I had a 2004 Kx 60 there’s no way they stopped making them in 2002. and what’s funny is I own a 2004 kx65. So idk wthell happened or why but it’s true.

Great memories of the 80’s MX. The ‘82 with the 4 speed gearbox was the bad idea. Honda learned from that mistake and made it better!

The thing would wheelie in every gear, so the front tyre never wore out! It was also very light. An amazing bike for the time.

My God this bike and the YZM400F have to be the coolest most rarest bikes ever ! I saw a video of a guy who obtained a real YZM400F engine and other stuff to make it work then put it in a 2001 YZF frame he even cut the frame tube then welded different tube too look like the weird factory frame ! he even found a white plastics kit It looked pretty close too the real thing almost !
