      oh, i think there was still some options if paid well but before 1917 there was options like red colour on ford T, after that they all went basically black because it was way more efficient/cheaper. so if this is truly original color from -26 it is truly really rare ford T... even those older ones are very rare these days too... @@thedefenestrator2994

    11:55 shit dudes that thing pulls better than my 14 challenger does. Same hill that damn car would be bouncing down the gears until the engine was at redline. The T just laughs, chug-a-lugs, and pulls the hill at like 1400. THAT is power. This new garbage ain't got shit for power.

    • @thedefenestrator2994
      @thedefenestrator2994 Před 2 lety

      It’s really just the simple physics of having long heavy connecting rods. They don’t move with anywhere near the speed and energy of new cars, but at low speed the pistons and rods are so much heavier by comparison that they just keep chugging. Modern cars are as light and efficient as they can be, so they have shorter quicker strokes. The perfect recipe for stalling quick if you don’t give it lots of beans.

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull Před 2 lety

      @@thedefenestrator2994 Part of why I hate modern cars tbph. I spent the better part of 15 years driving a half ton Ford with a 300 in it and I'm just so damn used to having all the torque I could ever want right down near idle...just like the T...that anything which can't do that just doesn't feel like it has any power to me. Hopefully over Winter 2022/spring 2023 I can overhaul that tired 300 and go back to driving that again; I stopped driving it because it was just plumb wore out. That being said, I genuinely suspect that pentastar V6 is not pulling for what it's rated for even when it does get spun up halfway to Mars. They quote that thing at 320hp or so. I've driven vehicles with that kind of power and it does NOT pull like any of them ever did. I would estimate it's only giving about 200-210hp. It doesn't feel any more powerful than my mom's 4.0l 2003 Explorer which is rated for about that much, and I've driven old school AND new school stuff that did make 300-odd HP which pulled twice as hard(Ecoboost V6 in the new Ford Transit vans is scarily powerful once the turbos spool and a built 351 Cleveland in a '65 Mustang that'd smoke both rear tires through an open diff while the C6 was stuck in 2nd gear is no laughing matter either!) Also the gas mileage is fucking atrocious; the T in that video was probably using less gas. My dash claims 25, but my wallet, a little old school math, and the intense amount of soot covering the exhaust tips confirms that it's actually getting somewhere around 16. Short term, I'm hoping to get into something old school. Currently eyeballing a gorgeous all original 53 Ford Business Coupe. Long term, I want my '85 F150 back, get that engine rebuilt and go back to driving my high school pride and joy. And hell I'll keep the 53 Ford if I land that too, have a sedan and a pickup both old school cool.

      @@TestECull I think the most old school truck you can get new today (that I know of) is a Ford Superduty with the 7.3L V8. It’s a beast of a motor, good old pushrod high displacement V8, without having to empty your wallet of an extra $10k for a diesel with diesel problems. Despite being a new engine, I haven’t heard any issues from the comercial guys who put this motor through the wringer. Performance shops have been slapping blowers on the stock motor and pushing 700hp+ with ease, and really only needing a tuneup here and there after multiple runs at the drag strip. If it wasn’t for the gas prices, and the fact that I am years from having the property to need a Superduty for, I would get that new 7.3 Ford. It’s just a good old heavy steel chassis, with a new aluminum body and a couple gadgets you can just turn off.

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull Před 2 lety

      @@thedefenestrator2994 Few key reasons why I have zero interest in that truck. 1: I can't afford a 70,000+ dollar vehicle. 2: I already have an 85 AND a 95 F150, both of which have the 4.9L I6 that ticks all my boxes(The 95 is in the process of getting its EFI system deleted for a carb, the 85 is due for a total engine rebuild). 3: The new one does not have a stickshift. This is a deal breaker. I will not give the time of day to buying a vehicle if it doesn't have a manual transmission. If someone else hands me the keys to a car with an automatic I'll still drive it, mind, but I will not buy one for myself with an automatic. If I'm paying the note on it it WILL have a clutch pedal. No exceptions. 4: It's the size of a cathedral and weighs just about as much. 5: The turning circle would embarrass the USS John C Stennis 6: I don't need a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. In the 15 years of owning my bullnose F-series(I bought my 85 in 2007) I have only ONCE exceeded the tow ratings they have. And the damn thing just shrugged, laughed, and chug-a-lugged through a 2,000 pound overload without a single fuck given anyway. 7: It's a modern car. It's shit in my eyes by virtue of being modern. I hate ALL modern cars. You'd be hard pressed to find a car made after 1985 that I'd be willing to even consider and every entry on that short list has a video on CZcams of Ayrton Senna flogging the piss out of it in loafers around the Suzuka Circuit. 8: As I already have two trucks, I don't need or want a third. I want a sedan, station wagon, coupe. I know, I know. Scathing remarks. But that's how I am. I've always had a fondness for classic cars/old iron, 15 years and 150k miles on old iron having never let me down once while new school stuff lets me down almost daily, and the fact that new stuff makes me want to take an angle grinder to my retinas means I'm just not in the market for anything built after I was born. I'm about to poke a classic car dealer about a 53 Ford Mainliner Business Coupe. It's about perfect for me. It ticks all the boxes, listening to an 8BA singing through a pair of glasspacks is going to be music to my ears whether I'm going 70mph or 7, itt'l look gorgeous parked in the driveway or at work or at the RC flying field, and being a Business Coupe it will be laughably easy to tote my RC airplanes around in it without fear of them being damaged by the weather or with them interfering with grocery shopping. Atop that I'll be driving literal history to work and I'll probably never have to buy another car again because that 8BA will basically outlive me as long as I keep up on the maintenance and maybe throw an overhaul at it at some point in the future. And itt'l give me an excuse to poke into car shows; I can slide it in as an exhibit and peruse the other exhibits while I'm there, chat up other gearheads, etc etc. Oh, and I'll also do a dashcam channel with it. Document the trials and tribulations of dailying a 70 year old car in modern Nashville traffic. Spoiler alert: Most of them will be avoiding getting run over by aggressive cunts that don't care about safety and drive like they're the only ones on the road.

      @@TestECull Well I ain’t about to knock your taste. Nothing wrong with the old iron, and it’s guys like you keeping the manual alive. I currently daily a completely unremarkable sedan with an automatic geared for economy and boredom. So long as it doesn’t shit out on me in the next few years, I plan on getting a manual gear box GR86 because a sports car should be a stick. But if my current ride kicks the bucket before I can have my sports car, I’m getting an old 4WD 5 speed, probably an older Toyota RAV4. Tough little mules which can pull a small trailer with all my shit. I lost count a long time ago how many old Toyotas I’ve seen with over 300,000k miles. Talked to plenty of folks who said, “The clutch? Replaced it once and that’s it. And only because I taught my kids how to drive stick in this car. Everything but tires, brakes, oil, and gas are original.” I used to sell new cars and that thought me a lot about the business, and what a shitty deal most new cars are. We had 4, and I repeat 4!! New 2020 Chevy Silverados on the lot which no one would buy because their touch screen radio, info settings, and climate computer would crap out before 20K, causing a cascading failure of every digital screen which includes the little thing called your ENTIRE DASH. Because apparently we need a TV screen for speedometers these days. We, a Ford dealership, had to take these trucks to a Chevy dealership to replace an entire $1,500 computer module in each one. Now the best part is that this module is the same as the first, so the odds of it shitting its brains out are just the same as the first. God I wish I had some old iron, but I’m a young guy with no experience working on them. I could learn, but I’m in the business of keep the new ones running and I gotta say… business is good. 😂
