Effect of Image Stabilisation on a Canon F2.8L 100mm Macro Lens

I recently bought a used Canon 100mm F2.8L Macro Lens used, and wasn't too sure if the image stabilisation was working. So I made a handheld video showing the difference between non IS/ IS on. You can see and hear when it turns on half way through the video as the whirrs up and reduces the shake slightly. Hope this helps anyone with similar concern about IS or noise from the lens. Q-OPTICS IS A SCAM COMPANY! BUYER BEWARE. I live in Seattle, WA and tried to purchase a pair of loupes from Q-Optics to help me better see for my quilting. They connected me with the rep, Melissa Meyer. Melissa asked for very odd, personal data prior to meeting with me that made me feel uncomfortable. My niece purchased a pair of loupes in another state and said that she did not encounter such odd questioning and she felt it was all very sketchy. She did some research and found that the rep Q-Optics paired with me has a CRIMINAL HISTORY. I feel so upset that they wanted me to provide financial information to a criminal. I am on a cruise and she asked to call me and leave a voicemail rather than email the type of loupes I want? All of it is so weird. I asked Q-Optics if this was customary and they NEVER COMMUNICATED BACK WITH ME. I feel like this company is either a scam or conducting themselves in a fraudulent manner. Email I sent back to them: Hi Melissa and Ashleigh Is it customary to do background checks on family members of potential customers? My niece asked that I not share any further information and now I am wondering why you asked? I simply wanted a pair of loupes to better see my quilting. Yes, I wear eyeglasses for reading. I thought I could just make a purchase but this is becoming too difficult for us to connect and my niece wrote this: Aunt Deb, I would not normally mind someone "looking up my name and order" but why does this rep need my personal information? Sounds odd. I don't feel comfortable with her wanting to look me up. Why all the weird questions? My guy let me buy whatever I wanted. This is so unprofessional. Just tell her you wanted to buy a pair of loupes and money with you is no object!!! If they are being this difficult then it isn't worth it. I am sorry I suggested them to you but I thought Q-Optics would be a good fit for you because they have more options, but I'm not sure why they are giving you such a runaround. We have heard this from other people here about their reps, so just tell them nevermind, and I'll connect you with someone else. Hope you guys have a great trip and send pics of the reunion! Great review and very accurate description of pros and cons. Mine have debonded more than once and the fogging I found to be persistent and very frustrating. I’ve now switched to Bilumix - fixed magnification but a much better light with no shadows. Still has some design issues with a weakness in the adjustable head band but I’m happier with these now. Might also be worth a review in future.

    I went to Q optics 4.5x from designs for vision. Big improvement; however, I still can’t adjust to getting my focus thrown off by my long eyelashes. I just ordered the Oroscoptics Eyezoom max loupes with dragonfly which is supposed to balance the weight. I know that you have the regular eyezoom, but how do you compare the quality of image, over all quality, and neck fatigue between the eyezoom and the q-optics? Also, how often do you switch mags while using the eyezoom?

    • @dentalreviewsYT
      @dentalreviewsYT Před 2 měsíci

      Oh, that's interesting. Have you spoken to Q-Optics about this, I wonder if it's something that can be overcome with angle of the loupes/frame choice... I do want to review the EyeZoom Max to see how it compares to the original, I reckon you'll end up using the variable magnification more often as there's a bigger difference between the 2 (instead of 3). When using the eyezoom I would definitely switch whenever doing some more precise e.g endo /preps as I had the luxury. That being said I haven't looked back whilst using these Q-Optics as the ergonomics are far superior, I haven't experienced neck pain or fatigue in the slightest. As for image quality, they are comparable. Hope this helps 👍🏽

    Thank you for the video Yusuf. İ am a student currently wanting to but loupes. What do you suggest me that is good for the price (I'm not looking above 3000 for at least 3X magnification). Also what is your opinion of not personalised loupes that you can adjust yourself and that are cheaper. (like the ones from AliExpress and some more expensive ones)

    • @dentalreviewsYT
      @dentalreviewsYT Před 3 měsíci

      Hey Tambee, With that budget you should be able to get a decent set of Prismatic loupes with 3.5x or more magnification, particularly as most companies do a generous student discount. For example, I believe these loupes should be well within budget after the discount. As for non customised loupes, I'm sure you could probably get a reasonable experience using them. Some consultants I know do surgery regularly with these types of loupes, however, personally I would suggest investing in a custom fit set as your overall experience will undoubtedly be better. Of course this is if you have the means to do so. It's on my list to do a review of a non-custom set of loupes and I'll share my thoughts on this in more detail hopefully👍🏽

    18:05 Are you referring to the old lumadent battery or the new one? i cant see how i could accidentaly press it with the later model (not that new so not sure which you referring to). • @dentalreviewsYT
      @dentalreviewsYT Před 4 měsíci

      I generally prefer steeper angles for improved ergonomics. The declination angles you've mentioned do not seem that steep, so I'm assuming a max declination angle should be fine. But have a discussion with the rep to see which would suit you best.

    seeing as youve thoroughly reviewed both these and bryants refractive loupes, which would you now recommend for a general dentist? (putting aside the downsides of refractives when it comes to implants and surgery)

    • @dentalreviewsYT
      @dentalreviewsYT Před 4 měsíci

      As a general dentist you have to ask yourself what is important to you. Is the weight, style, ergonomics, magnification, design, optical clarity, cost, customer service etc. whichever is your main priority will dictate your decision. I must also mention Q optics also have an ergonomic refractive loupe you could check out too which is I guess would be more comparable to the Bryant Refractives but I haven't tried those. Unfortunately, it's not black and white and is subjective. I'd advise to physically check out the loupes and get a feel for them before buying. What I can say is that I've been using these as my daily and would have no hesitation in recommending them for general dentistry. Hope this helps

    • @dentalreviewsYT
      @dentalreviewsYT Před 6 měsíci

      Hey, thanks for your comment. In my opinion, It depends on what you do day to day, if you do general dentistry then I think 7.2x is quite high. But if you specialise in doing certain restorative procedures or endodontics 7.2x would be great. Also, if these are (or will be) you're only pair of loupes then you'd want some versatility. In dentistry, I would do surgical third molar removals etc. And for Maxfacs then skins/soft tissues/dentoalveolar. Again, that's my opinion. Some people are happy using 7.2x for everything! Hope this helps

    I have one. I requested to have my declination angle at the maximum angle, which they told me was 35 degrees. When it was first delivered to me, I measured the angle and came out as 20. They screwed up and I had to return it to repair. It's a night and day difference with 35 degrees and the default 20. I see 26-28 patients a day and wear this for 8 hours straight. The neck strain is definitely there after a long procedure. 2 long procedures after another, you need a break and stretch a lot. The strain is definitely there. I've tried many other loupes. Clarity on orascoptic wins out of almost everything else. It's why I got it in the first place. The fogging is there too, but it's just in the morning. First patient. I start by spraying air between my face and loupes and the fogging goes away. I also wipe my loupes with anti fogging glasses wipes on a weekly basis. I did hesitate to return it for a 4.5x but I'm happy now. 3x for almost everything for me and 4x and 5x can be a godsend for endo sometimes. I use 4x for deep resto as well. 😊

      @dentalreviewsYT Před 8 měsíci
