How to tie a Needlefish Imitation - Stick Fly
This short fly tying video shows how to tie a simple Needlefish imitation with foam. Giant tarpon have trouble resisting a well presented Stick Fly. Foam saltwater flies like the Stick Fly can be made more durable by inserting a cut of heavy mono into the core of "Evasote" Fly Tying Foam. This will help keep an excited cast from whipping the foam off the hook. Use a steady two handed strip, or "doodle" over the fish's head and do the best you can to hang on. This saltwater fly can be tied in many colors and with or without a weed guard.
Capt Matt lives to watch big fish unwittingly bite hooks that you cast. If you want some of the best fishing money can buy, go to www.riplips.com.

I prefer an igfa leader. It's a little more effort, but I find that it casts better than a home boy, and you just never know when that fish of a lifetime will take your fly. I don't chase records, but if I catch one I'd like it to count.
