Great video. I have a project where I want changeable gears without a freewheel (kids pedal tractor). Is there any hub that can achieve this? the freewheel in this video is unfortunately integral to the operation of the hub, I was hoping that I would be able eliminate it.

Does grease on the outboard bearings really “seal” the hub? Doesn’t oil (ATF) dissolve grease?! Seems like a short-lived solution. On my Shimano Alfine 8 hub, I did this using 80w90 gear oil to soak the internals (refuse to pay ridiculous price for Shimano special IGH oil), Shimano IGH grease on outboard bearings (as well as on roller clutches as recommended, etc). After just 100 miles, I opened it back up, and the grease was watered down and almost same viscosity as the oil!

Besides the Electric Shifter ( MU-S705 ) Why is one hub Electric Shift ( SG-S505 ) And one Mechanical/Cable shift ( SG-S501 )? Why can't you put the 'Manual/Cable' shift on the SG-S505?
