To be fair, the true originator of that style of singing is Metallica’s James Hetfield. He was the first frontman to have that type of voice and style of singing… It was later also used by Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.
So lately, I’m thinking. With you is where I want to be. If I go, you’ll freak out. Cause I’m the only one you see. Hey buddy. Your singing. It sounds an awful like me. You ripped off. My voice box. You are a crappy low rent Creed. I am not. You are too. You even stole our melody. Then tell that. To Pearl Jam. They’re in their boat behind that tree. Well look now. It’s Scott Stapp. The creep who tried my lock jaw sound. Get ready. Cause I will. Beat your trick fast in the ground. So Finally. It’s just me. I was the first to sound like this. That’s bull crap. I’m Ray Charles. And it’s my ass you all can kiss. That’s how I sing. That’s how I sing. That how we sing. That’s how we sing. Yeahhhhh
Eddie Vedder started singing like that then Scott Weiland (STP) then Daniel Johns (Silverchair) then Darius Rucker (Hootie) then Scott Stapp (Creed) then Alex Band (The Calling) then Days of the New singer, the homeless Brad Pitt lol
Had they wanted to, they could've added many other singers to that skit, like Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Layne Staley (Alice In Chains), Aaron Lewis (Staind) and Dallas Smith (Default).
Everyone likes to point out that Alex Band is played by Taran Killam (back when he was on MADtv; yes, SNL did hire a MADtv cast member. They did it before with Jeff Richards, but how many people have heard of Jeff Richards?), but did you know the girl getting the tattoos is Nicole Parker?
@@Mitwadus They only hired two cast members from MADtv: Jeff Richards and Taran Killam. They did have Keegan Michael Key host and Arden Myrin, Stephnie Weir, and Jordan Peele auditioned for SNL and got rejected.
@@canaisyoung3601 I'm pretty sure Jordan was actually searched by them as talent to play Obama, but his MADtv contract kept him stuck on the show. Jay Mohr from SNL also guest starred on MADtv once.
I haven’t seen this skit in ages! When I first saw this and Ray Charles randomly came out playing the piano, I fell out! I was laughing so loud, I couldn’t hear what they were saying anymore after that. It was all virtually intelligible anyway, so I guess it didn’t matter. 😂
It seemed like after Perl Jam got famous, everyone tired to sound like them. That wasn't my kind of rock. I grew up in the 80's. But this skit is so freaking funny and so true.
I agree, Silverchair in the beginning with the instruments was the same vibe (mainly in the song Tomorrow) and Creed with the lead singer the same as well.
@TheNumberOneShmuck that part of the song Michael McDonald, the guy playing the lead singer from pearl jam, is saying "That kid who swiped my lock jaw sound" It is kind of hard to hear due to the crowd.
@@zachbernheisel2239 I think it's "that creep who swiped my lock-jaw sound." Then the next line is "you ready, cause I will, beat [COUPLE OF WORDS I CAN'T UNDERSTAND] face in the ground."

Why wasn't Darius Rucker from Hootie and the Blowfish impersonated in this? And I personally don't think Ray Charles sang like that.
Man I miss MadTV this was hilarious 😂😂😂😂
The hunger dunger dang wars was a dark time in America. So much blood
Mad TV pure childhood

Or Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, or even Travis Meeks from Days of The New

When blonde guy said behind the tree, u can tell he can actually sing.🤣🤣🤣
I always thought Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam sounded a lot alike. I got their songs mixed up numerous times
I personally never heard the similarities. I for sure heard the similarities when it came to The Calling and Creed. Almost identical to Pearl Jam.
Plus, everything after STPs first album sounds nothing like Grunge in general
Every STP song sounds the same
@Winston Smith That's like, your opinion, man...Tiny Music and Core sound nothing alike, you need to clean out your ears, bro
_"That's bullcrap... I'm Ray Charles..."_ 😂😂🤣🤣
Can't get Eddie Vedder than this.
I see what ya did there 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I grew up in the 80s too but I liked Pearl Jam. I could listen to Iron Maiden and Pearl Jam...nothing wrong with variety...

Will Sasso man, he fuckin' nailed Scott Stapp's voice. So hilarious!
And all of his physicality in the “My Sacrifice” music video. He literally clenches his fists like that throughout the entire video. 😂 Hilarious.
Hahahaha
He's saying "long lost sound"
@RussianLove666 no, it is not.

@Anggry567 That actually is the dude from the calling. they made a guest appearance on this episode.

No, I meant the line before that. "That kid who's robbed my ????? sound" is about all I could even guess at.
That creep who swiped my long jaw sound
"You are a crappy, low-rent Creed!" What I'm wondering is what the Pearl Jam singer said after "Well look here, it's Scott Stapp"
