In this episode I hit the streets of Toronto with my Leica Q2 and a flash to capture "Caribana" also known as the Caribbean Carnival. Thanks so much Steve! Glad it's helpful. Will try to make more like this.
Thank you Bryan. You make these videos so well. They are interesting and I always learn something.

WOW! Bryan.....what a great video. I had no idea how much a photographer on an Ad Campaign was responsible for. You killed it! great work and thanks for the video. I love these behind the scenes videos and understanding the process and thoughts behind it. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jennifer! I didn't realize it, but you're right... so many people don't know what kind of work goes on behind the scenes to get the shot. Happy to keep sharing!
Thank you for sharing this! Very interesting to watch, as I’m always curious about the studio portrait process!
Glad you enjoyed it Hellen!
Good going! Love the insight!
Thanks Jas! More on the way...
Congrats on your achievement!! More to come💪🏽💪🏽

Great breakdown Bryan. Good to see a peek into professional client work.
I appreciate that!
So many gems 💎

Love your channel bro. This is incredibly valuable information + you nailed the shoot.
Thank you so much!

My pleasure!
Excellent insights, I love how open you are! I am sure you will keep growing those income streams 💪
Thanks for watching!
Love your work mate! You edited so well, the photos tells its own story and the music connects everything. Thank you for sharing it, amazing work and looking forward more work like this✨
Thank you for the kind words Joyce! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. 🙏✌️
does shooting form the hip mean your camera is by your hip? and you are just aiming the lens and zone focusing
Yes, but your camera doesn't have to stay by your hip. Feel free to use the same technique but from different positions. For example, I have a short camera strap and shoot from my chest while zone focusing. Hope that helps!
Great video Bryan. I love how you walk us through the work and thought that went into the photo and WHY you shot it is super helpful! Super helpful. I feel like not enough people talk about why they took a photo vs. just taking it. Great video and great project. Thanks for sharing. As for my recommendation on street photographers to check out, it would be great if some female street photographers could be profiled. I'm not familiar with a lot, but one I've seen on Paulie B's channel is Sonia Tsang and Melissa O'Shaughnessy.
Thanks Jennifer! I appreciate you watching and I love that you actually care about the why. Shooting with intent is such a personal process. As for female street photographers, yes… would love to highlight even more! I actually did a short review video on photo books that inspire me and Melissa O’Shaughnessy’s book “Perfect Strangers” was included. Vivian Maier’s work is beautiful and you should also check out Lauren Welles, and Melissa Breyer just to name a few.
This is inspiring! Such a special moment captured and the dad was so cool and relaxed in the photo!
It’s incredible to see how many beautiful moments are captured on the street by showing love and respect. Jamel was ahead of his time! I’m just happy to capture moments like this. 🙏
To me the angle gives the father a heroic quality. And you might check out Johanna Neurath.
Gonna look her up now! Thanks for sharing.
Love the way you display your b&w shots on a white background. Looks super clean!
Thx brother!
I always underestimate the power of cropping a picture! Great stuff
Thanks! Cropping can make a big difference.
Great shot B ❕ Love his mission, work and what he represents for the community 🫶🏼🖤✨💫
Appreciate it Sher! 🙏
Sick pic!
Thank you!

Dang that stinks man. if I had a lux camera like that and there was any issue at all I'd be bummed. I have subscribed in hopes of living vicariously through you as you fix and shoot your leica because I'll probably never be able to own one. BTW, please don't be upset if you scroll upon my video making fun of leica owners. It was all a joke for internet attention. I don't want to get cancelled by the film community before I get a reel following.
Luckily the retailer took it back and issued me a new one. I was pretty disappointed when I finally got my dream camera and it wasn't perfect. My new one is has no issues and I've been shooting with it for over a year now.
What program did you use to create the format for your book? Thank you for your help
I used Adobe InDesign for my final layout and print production.
@@BryanBrock_ thanks man! I’ll keep up with your content. I appreciate it
Is it legal to sell photos with people in it without their release forms?
You have to see if street photography is legal in your country/city. If it's legal, than there should be no issues with selling the images. Always good to double check!
@@BryanBrock_ Gotcha. Thanks!
Nicely done. Looks like fun
Always a good time!
Thanks for that super transparent video! Pretty much for a street photographer, great job.
Appreciate it Marco!
How much would you estimate you guys spent on the NYC gallery show with the venue and prints and such? I'm looking to do something similar in the same area, but it seems like costs are wild!
Costs are wild! We spent close to $6k USD to produce a 1 day gallery event. That doesn't include the costs associated with the production of the photo book, OR the airfare, hotel, and ground transportation for myself to travel from Toronto to New York.
What a "genious" take...timeless photo being a photo referencing a specific time...
I think it’s one of those “almost but not quite” pictures. There’s a lot about it that works… the strangeness of the circles in the grass, the colors, the man’s position in the frame… but his head is getting lost in the trees, and I wish we could see something of his expression. I wonder if having people in more of the circles would underscore the idea behind the photo better. If it communicated a little more about what was going on, and what that time was like - it would go a lot farther towards being “timeless”.
Love your breakdown Richard. I agree that it’s almost there, but not quite. I really like the story of the older man stepping out of the circle, but without context it may not have the impact it should. Appreciate you taking the time for the detailed reply! 🙏
there is an iconic photograph by Eddie Adams of an Asian man being shot in the head in Vietnam
I've seen that one, wild. The burning monk photograph is also an iconic image that can never be unseen.
Just looks like a random photo, sure the frame is full but still no strong story.
Love this B! I agree with the emotional impact. Love candid shots too 👌🏽 your Trinity bellwoods shot definitely qualifies as a timeless photo even if it’s documenting a specific time, it conveyed a new norm
Thanks Sheryln!
Without the explanation I thought it was just a guy walking through a circle with the explanation I see the circle being more representative of society willfully being told what to do and accepting it without question.
Yeah, it's one of those photos that provide a lot of layers, but maybe it needs the context for the layers to make sense. Appreciate the observation and thanks for sharing!
Definitely timeless. Most traumatic and beautiful time in the world. I would remember that month (May 2020) everytime I see this photo or similar.
Great point as a reminder or time stamp for those of us who lived through the pandemic. I wonder what someone will think in 20 or 30 years, who maybe wasn't alive at the time of the pandemic? Thanks for commenting!
Without much context, if a person 30 years from now saw this, It would just look like a random person walking through random circles. Now I might ask myself what the circles on the ground are for?, but Ali standing above his opponent needs no explanation-All the elements are there
I get it. I think there are a few more layers to the story than just the circles, but overall it doesn't carry the same weight as the Ali photograph. That's the interesting thing about "timeless" photos, they don't necessarily need to have all of the elements I mentioned in the video to be considered timeless. Appreciate you taking the time to comment!
That’s a classic image for sure!
Facts! So many timeless photos.
Great one Bryan!
Thank you!
We had the same circles in my city in Belgium, Ghent around that time. What a strange two years that was.
Super strange! I had no idea you had the circles over there too. I saw them in Brooklyn, NY as well.
@@BryanBrock_ The photos that came out of it are really impressive too. Highly recommend!
This content is serious fam! - Blessings
