You are wrong when you say that this yellow tube from the oil dipstick is held only by the engine cover. This tube should be seated on the metal dipstick tube coming out of the oil pan. To do this you need to dip the end of it about two inches deep into hot water from a kettle. Then this yellow plastic will become flexible and it will be possible to seat it on the metal tube from the oil pan. You will hear a rather loud CLICK! But before you push it onto this metal tube, you need to point it with a sharp protruding spear at the other end of this tube (where you push in the oil dipstick) perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the engine. Then it will fit perfectly into the hole in the engine cover. Greetings from Poland.

Yup, that's about right from the stealership! Did it for a few years after I got out of the Vocational school, was one of the worst jobs ever! Bosses make you upsell customers all the time. I used to get yelled at because I told people they don't need half the work. It is one of the most corrupt businesses out there. Taking advantage of people for a living is just not for me. 😊 Few years ago Rt. 24 chrysler/jeep here in massachusetts charged my buddy's mother, on a fixed income $5000 to fix a shake problem in the front end of her 2004 jeep. Was still shaking 1 bad bushing 10 bucks, done. They did brakes, shocks, axles, bearings, Tie rods ect. BTW all that stuff was recently done. Disgusting and sad! 😢 Find a good honest mechanic that's a family member, friend of a friend ect. You can also take your new car to them too. Don't need a dealership. The local mechanic will let you know if it has to go to the dealership for warranty stuff. Period!

I am doing the same thing to my heater control unit, got the water control lever arm free, but can't seem to get the defrost/heat vent cable to move... might have to take more of it apart. Broke off the tabs like yours, glued them back on too! Question, did you get your shift indicator to work once you took the instrument panel off so many times? That little wire is such a pain! I have been doing electrical since I was a kid with my dad in 35 now and this is a little bit of a joke it’s really not hard at all to put the connector on just get the right size for the job I never and I mean ever saw anyone do any stupid trick like this to put something on like that but I’m not trying to be to negative because if your just a guy who never touches electrical then whatever works as long as it’s safe then more power to you but this is 1,000% unnecessary

I genuinely feel bad for dudes that have to pay other dudes to fix stuff. Just 2 weeks ago I did some work to my girlfriend’s car. Took me two days working on it for a few hours after work in my garage. Me being curious I called a local shop and asked them for a quote for the work I just spent two days doing. $2700 😂💀 I couldn’t imagine.

Just had to redo most of the front suspension on my wrangler. Drag link, tie rod, track bar and ball joints were all won’t out. I replaced all the parts myself and took it to the shop just to get the my inspection stickers, fitting greased, the alignment done, breaklines bled, and needed the oil cooler/ oil filter housing replaced. They had the jeep for over a month. When I got it back the breaklines were not bled l, the alignment was worse( standing in front of you could clearly see the tires pointing away from each other) they had me replace the fender flares( that passed inspection the last 2 year) they wired the turn signal lights on the fenders to my running lights, removed the wire for the running lights in my headlights, and somehow broke the bezel that holds the switch for my door locks so the whole switch was just dangling. All of that and it cost me $2000 plus the over $1000 in parts.

I agree with you. I just spent over $13000 at a shop on 3 of my vehicles over the past 4 years. And they just stripped my drain plug in my what I call. Good vehicle that doesn't get driven much. P***** me off and now I switched mechanics. And this was somebody, I was supposed to trust. This is why people are the way they are these days.
