The Monthly species match was fished in better conditions with some cover and not so hot,16 anglers took part in the match today.
Willing cup final leg final part.
zhlédnutí 50Před 16 hodinami
It worked out that my fish were an average of one ounce each, there were some good weights with 15lbs the best.Well done Alan Smith on winning the Willing cup as i think this is the hardest of the silverware to win. My weight was 7lbs 3oz all roach and rudd, roll on next year!
Willing cup part three
zhlédnutí 51Před 16 hodinami
Well the whistle has gone and with 106 fish in my net i have been busy but unlike my practice session no better fish! Never had a bite on the long line over worm so all the fish came at the end of my keepnet.
The Willing cup final leg part two
zhlédnutí 249Před 16 hodinami
Well would you believe it i have drawn the peg i practiced on! No excuses tonight then as i will do exactly what i did in practice and go for a target weight of 12lbs

DAA Vetrans match Western parade 26/6/24
zhlédnutí 127Před 19 hodinami
Deffo not a day for sea angling! swimmers paddleboards and the like and the temps soaring to 29 degrees. Still five hardened vets are chancing their luck and all i can say is bon chance!
vetrans match Aldergate 25/6/24
zhlédnutí 546Před 19 hodinami
On a scorching hot day with the temps hitting 29 degrees as you can imagine the fishing was tough! Alan Yates had a nice peg with some tree cover over and made the most of it with two tench and a bream plus small fish. Alan Cain was doing well with some nice roach but with a pike under his bank was not getting them all in!
A quick two hours practice for the Willing cup match Wednesday eve.
zhlédnutí 142Před dnem
Popped up to Stanford early before it got too hot and fished the method i will use Wednesday, had over 60 fish that included roach to 7oz rudd to thye same and some perch to 7oz,about 8lbs in two hours, bring it on!

Top three challenge part four
zhlédnutí 86Před dnem
After a good scrap Pete was amazed to see a super near 2lbs perch come to the net on pellet! What a super looking fish the perch is.
top three challenge part two
zhlédnutí 191Před dnem
We are going to fish four hours and only fish of over 1lb 8oz to count,i am banking on the paste finding the better bream.
top three challenge part three
zhlédnutí 56Před dnem
After two good bream on the paste the smaller skimmers moved in and the bites became very tricky indeed! Pete had been catching steady on the 6mm pellet and all of a sudden a carp had run him into the snag!
The top three challenge! 22/6/24
zhlédnutí 148Před dnem
Well i have challenged match angler Pete Joiner to a top three only challenge match. What was i thinking he will give me a right beating! Still you got to be in it to win it!

Well done Alan and Wesley, top dangling !!
Cheers Trevor i gave Alan and John your regards.
Hope you're keeping well Trevor.
Get in Wes 2nd place🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you Joseph it included a 12lbs common carp that fought like a tiger!
Wez do you fish donut lake in evegate
Yes mate some nice fish in that little pond!
@@wesleyshrubsole3531cheers wez
Blimey old Mr Yates consistent as ever, well done on 2nd place mate. How many species did you end up with?.
As always mate! We both had five but Alan had an extra point for a roach better than 8oz.
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 haha typical Alan.
That's what you call a bait tray. Good luck mate.
Thanks Ian
Unlucky Wes better luck next time
Thanks mate it was a super evening so the win would have been a bonus.
Just be quiet and stop breathing like a walrus 🙄🙄🤦♂🤦♂👎👎👎👎
Let us know how you got on mate, good angling to catch that many fish you deserve top 3 at least.
Thanks Ian i would think it was just about top three, reminded me of bleak bashing on the Rother!
@wesleyshrubsole3531 Every now and then a tiddler bashing session does you good mate. Bloody good angling Wesley.
Very true mate winner had 15lbs second 14lbs third 12lbs me fourth, they all had "netters" probably about the same amount of fish though me fifth overall in Willing cup, never won the bugger!
@wesleyshrubsole3531 That's unlucky mate, next year could be your year mate.
Great to see Alan and John still "at it" and doing well, kind regards gents. . . . . . . .
Hi Trevor will pass it on mate, yep they are still doing the buisness!
Feed loads of pinkies and get them up in the top couple of feet, caught some cracking roach and rudd doing that. Nice video Wesley.
Thanks for the tips! Just what Alan was doing!
The camera man is shocking!!! 😂
Hi David i am the cameraman and i totaly agree! Lol
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 good film but please show him loading the feeder next time lol
@@davidgraham8050 Will do mate this bloody DJI Osmo camera is harder to use than i thought.
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 u will get the hang of it mate
Cracking stripey
Hi i was wondering do u fish donut lake evegate sir
Hello yes but i find the slope to the lake tough with the tackle, that said it is a super little pool with some very nice fish.
Oi oi do you ever fish donut lake evegate
Hi Jesse yes mate i have done but that slope with the gear is a killer!
Hahaha wrestle the Eric 😅
Glad i was using a proper rod Ian!
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 I bet you were.
Great going Wes on your second place🎉🎉
Thanks Joseph, those end pegs on our canal are tough to beat.
Good angling mate.
Thanks mate one more to go!
A very breamy groundbait mix.
The carp was playing to the camera Wesley, nice video mate.
Thanks Ian yep he was a real scrapper!
Nice videos, i went fishing today and caught 21 tiddlers, though two roach were 8oz each
Well done you they do not have to be monsters to be enjoyed.
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 it’s been 40 years since I fished, I really enjoyed it, I’m going to fish every weekend now
@@josephbackstrom1679 Good for you,enjoy!
Without a doubt one of the most moody chargeable places i have fished. If Alan's struggling you know it's a hard day.
My favourite stretch of the canal. I have had 3 different 20+ pike from that stretch including a 28. I lost a huge perch there too that was easily over 3. Proper wild fishing with that element of the unknown and sometimes lions roaring 😊 Nice video Wesley.
Thanks mate, proper pike them Ian,sadly a bit thin on the ground now
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 Super finicky feeders unlike anywhere else I have Pike fished, I'm sure there is a 30 in that stretch mate.
That would be nice Ian,i had two just over 20lbs from the bomb hole many years ago but of late just jacks.
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 I always found that you had to be on them so to speak or it was just little jacks. They were always somewhere between the bomb hole and the west Hythe dam. It was those big perch that always seemed to elude me that I really wanted to catch.
I remember using tins of bacon grill and eating most of it myself 😊
Me too mate lovely stuff!
Definitely better and microphone seems better
Thank you very much, done a video i will put on tomorrow and the wind was awful so sound quality was poor!
Alan's done well with 8 species!
Much better picture with this camera🎉
Thanks Joseph just got to learn how to use it now!
Sharp picture my friend
Seems a much clearer picture mate.
Was Pete fishing g with a feeder?
Yes mate he was getting lots of twitches with a 6mm wafter but went to single and double dead red maggot and wham!
The canal definitely can be moody at times mate. Nice video Wesley
What news on the weigh in and how far behind are you?
I have not had the full results yet Joseph, there was a 10lb weight and i would think my net would be about halfway but i will let you know.
Hi Joseph i was fourth the 10lb was the winner and there was a 6lb and two 5lbs
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 oh well done mate, just shows a couple more big wish could have made you the leg winner. Thanks for keeping me updated, really enjoying your channel
@@josephbackstrom1679 Thanks Joseph,yep needed a bream!
How many legs in the Willing cup?
Hello Joseph, four mate next week canal town stretch then club lake
I like your attitude, “it’s only a bit of fun”
Looks like a nice day😅
Best part of the day mate for sure.
Add some liquidised fishy cat food to the worms, it smells repulsive but the eels go absolutely mad on it. I guarantee you won't forget that mate lol. Nice video Wesley.
Cor i bet that does whiff! Lol
@wesleyshrubsole3531 It does but it really does work well, it creates a little oil slick.
Yes I see the splashing
Unnatural water colour.
Hi John the picture does not do the colour much favor,it is well coloured in Summer but goes tapwater clear after the frosts!
Fun on the pole mate.
Nice video and jolly good angling mate.
Thanks Ian yes he gave a good scrap for sure!
Nice big fish
No weigh in?
Not this time mate as sometimes it can be over an hour after the match and i had to be somewhere else.
What happens with that hook?
Hi Joseph it was kinder on the perch to cut the line reather than dig about with the disgorger, barbless hook will soon drop out.
Ok
I’m going on my first fish on Saturday 😂😂
Good luck take a brolly looks like it might be wet!
Love your little videos, haven’t seen you win yet, have you won?🏆
Hi Joseph, not very often mate, was second in this one but ever hopeful!
Lovely looking morning. I'm glad you remembered the worms lol.
Me too!
Taking out your anger on the sweetcorn! 😅 Fancy forgetting your worms 😮. Nice video Wesley.
Just retired mate and the old memory has gone already!
@wesleyshrubsole3531 lol I know the feeling mate. At least they will keep for another day. We've all done it at least once mate, I once left my rod bag at a lake and didn't realise until a good friend phoned a few days later to enquire if I knew where my rods were lol.
Next best looking fish to big perch is the rudd. Nice video Wesley.
Thanks Ian the colours on the fish were stunning
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 They are a stunning fish, that gold and blood red, same thing with a big perch. No pond cod or any other fish have that wow factor of a good rudd or perch. Good angling Wesley.
Thanks mate with Alan and John Friday so will give them your regards
@wesleyshrubsole3531 cheers Wesley.
That fish lnew the camera was on 😂
Lovely day you've got for it. Enjoy Wesley.
Thanks, you too!
I want to see you land a 3lb+ perch, I got a thing about big old perch. Nice video Wesley and unlucky with the unseen pond cod.
Hi Ian wow yes a three pound perch would be a fish of a lifetime, just got a bit brutal with the pond cod! Lol
@@wesleyshrubsole3531 I know there are some very big perch along the aldergate stretch of the canal as I had a very big one drop off at the net and also marshide fisheries has done one or two good ones I believe.
Lumps of bread crust fished right in the reeds used to be the way to catch the carp.
Still the same Ian on this incredible little pool!
