Had to take a break for a while due to life stuff. All good things. I just didn't have a chance to practice. I finally sat down for a 2-hour 2-minute session on the 16th. I tried to upload the video in my normal way (hit Share to CZcams on the video in Gopro Cloud) and no matter how many times I try (5 so far) it won't upload more than 38 minutes. If the problem gets fixed, I'll delete this one and reupload the full practice.

Que genial!!! Muito boa ideia.
not sure how i got here but this page is brilliant
i like this channel =) always wondered why no one shows their entire shred as vlog but then again its so painful to upload long videos lol but so many ideas ive had that ive forgotten due to not having recorded them maybe our paths will cross one day chasing Django
that’s it. consistency is the way.
Hey there. Insomnia so I listened to the whole vid :-) and it’s nice to hear from someone with identical interests. Great job posting. Focus is good. So much stuff to work on, hopefully book 3 will keep it fun. Fun is important! Great about your hands. Are you listening to lots of gj as well? That can help feed the motivation and enjoyment, if you listen to things that really get you going.
You’re doing great, you’re playing Django’s lines. I hear some Georgia brown lines. Now why don’t you add your own flare, passing tones scales , your own blues lines.
Thank you! That'll be a later step. I'm still getting used to the book material as it is.
@@justadudepracticing You've got it in you already, I mean those major lines you're playing, with a solid technique and execution, just start changing the rhythmic structure on the exercise you're doing. Like in one bar, change the Rhythm completely, then the next bar add chromatics, the next bar, maybe play a blues line connected, etc. I personally feel you're ready for that, and, I think you're ready to work specifically on the songs you wanna play at jams. Work on one song at a time, get down your intros, endings, and start composing solos, intertwined and made up of what you have in the book combined with scales. The Harmonic minor scale gets big milage in gypsy jazz, and you should know how to descend/ascend with lines from all across the fretboard. Based on what I've seen you doing, you will be there in one year or less if you keep it going. I have been playing guitar for 47 yrs. I didn't start woodshedding with gypsy jazz until COVID. I'm on yr 4 now, and I'm finally there, and I played jazz before gypsy jazz, but I had stopped playing seriously for yrs, and basically lost all my flow, and I could NOT improvise and sound good in gypsy jazz? My problem was, I was sounding way too bluesy, and not jazzy swing blues, it was way too Kenny burrell style, I was heavily into Joe Pass, so when Covid came, I recorded two of his songs note for note, just as an exercise, to get my chops back. That took like month's to do, and it was that, that got me into Gypsy Jazz. The problem I'm having now is, I can't find any jams in my city, or serious players. I can't even find a luthier here in my city that knows how to even work on my guitars? nd I live in Toronto Ont? I myself am still not where I want to be AT ALL. I mean I have SO MANY songs to memorize. This music demands SERIOUS study and work, and I'm doing it. I haven't bought Christians books, which I'm SURE are EXCELLENT. Thankfully, I have always been able to learn things myself, I mean I had to I came from the old school. I'm on facebook, but I've only posted myself playing walt'z, I LOVE the walt'z, so I learned La Gitane, and Django's waltz. Good stuff, stay inspired, and Keep going. If you have the time to put in, and the inspiration I say YOU personally will be ther in one year, jamming, I say 10 choice picked songs. Good luck.
I can see you've improved your chops quite nicely
Thank you!! Slowly but surely...
19:30 sounds like intonation problem... there's a floating saddle on your guitar, I think you could maybe set it by yourself - just compare fretted notes on 12th fret with harmonics on 12th fret and they should match or be as close as possible. If not, you need to move the saddle forward or backward.
Thank you! I'll give that a try.
8:48 and the truth is everybody uses Wegen's lol
Not those at the top of the genre lol
@@justadudepracticing at least Joscho uses them for sure
@@MegaGameHunter True true. He uses big city 1.4, same as Stochelo as far as I know.
Hi Dude' its inspiring to see your dedication and commitment to the gypsy jazz style, well done for that, any progress is better than doing nothing. Your not alone, despite practising for many years (at least 3hrs a day) i been struggling with this style and feel like I've only scratched the surface. having watched a few of your daily practice videos sadly they only capture my attention for a short while before they become monotonous, if you gave a little detail and mentioned what it is your learning at any given time, i think this might engage the watcher and allow them to learn with you and may increase your watch count! am eager to see your outcome using the Van Hermet System? keep going at it bro 👍🎶
Thank you! Three hours! Impressive. I'm pretty burnt out after two. Thanks for checking out the videos. They're not really meant to be watched (although feel free, of course). Part of the reason I started uploading was to show what practice can look like - monotony, endless repetitions, slow gains. I always find motivation in seeing other people work on things (like study-with-me channels). It helps me to combat the misguided feeling that learning and results should be quick.
Have you considered a monthly recital along with the progress report?
I'd like to but I'm still at a level where I'd have to spend the whole month preparing for it. Eventually I'll get to more "performance" based stuff. My main focus for now is book exercises (licks).
Clean stuff fam ✊🏽
Thank you! Glad to see you got your run in on Sunday.
@@justadudepracticing just barely lol
Just wanted to thank you again for this amazing thing you do and post on YT. Keep up the good work buddy
Thank you! That means a lot to me.
Your channel has 202 videos but your channel is not getting proper views and subscribers because of SEO problem in your channel. Why is your channel not growing?
It makes sense. My videos aren't the kind of thing you sit and watch. They're literally just me practicing. I don't teach, I talk to the camera once a month, I'm playing a niche genre, and I rarely upload a "finished product." The original idea behind the channel was to have a complete and raw record of my progress so I never expected to get many subs.
Keep up the hard work!
Thank you! That's the plan!
Great video
Thank you!
You should upload a video without the sound dampener in the body of the guitar. I think it would be great to unleash the full potential of your sound
I might eventually take it off. For now I think it's best to leave it on, for the sake of everyone in my vicinity.
I emailed you but you didn't reply
Just saw it! I appreciate the offer but I'm just going to let the channel grow (or not) naturally.
Your channel SEO problem. So SEO need
@@abdul_travelvlog Maybe, but if I wanted more subs or views I'd create different content. Out of curiosity, what's something you would change about my channel SEO that would make a noticeable difference?
Hey there! I'm trying to follow along with the practice, I would like to know if you can help me find the book or transcript for this lesson, it will be highly appreciated
Sure! Check any of Christiaan van Hemert's videos. He has the links to his books in his video descriptions. Check my descriptions to see what books/chapters I'm working on that day.
Please your WhatsApp number
hard work, learn with you thanks
Nice! Thanks for checking out the channel!
Great solo with fantastic technique but why are you focusing on such a difficult standard instead of playing something more easy like coquette, honeysuckle rose, I can't give you anything but love etc
Thank you! It was the song of the month (May) on Christiaan's discord so I wanted to give it a shot.
Good to see you again!

Just stumble upon your channel ! Nice concept ^^ I see you don't do warm up exercises (or you don't record them i don't know) which makes me think that maybe i should ditch them cause i feel like i'm spending a lot of time on them and i don't allways have a lot of time to practice.
Thank you! The only warm-up I was doing was a light stretch but I stopped a couple of months ago when someone suggested that it might be aggravating a finger issue I was dealing with. Now I just jump in and start playing.
1:12:00 I've also practiced that lick on Honeysuckle Rose it's such an annoying lick to learn but It's really useful to build your own licks off
Oh! Forgot about that lick. It's a good one. I don't think I ever actually got it down though.
@@justadudepracticing Yes I also barely use it in it's full form but I use parts of it. It's a great pattern because you can play it on Gm when improvising over blues en mineur and C7 so it's a really versatile pattern
I'll have to relearn it!
Love the sound hole cover! I have to make my own soon - I have an Ibanez Masa, and the sound hole isn't round. So a standard cover won't work.
lol it's a cork coaster (Ikea, I think). You could just cut off a piece to fit your guitar but anything will do. An actual cover would look better though.
what anyone sees
What no one sees?
@@justadudepracticing 2 hours of practicing until you be fine to present.
True. Way more than two hours though lol
Just curious.. why is the guitar's sound hole blocked up? Are you just trying to reduce the volume?
Exactly. Out of consideration for the folks around me who are forced to listen to a dude practicing.
Bro one question why did u cover the soundhole
Trying to take some of the bite out of the guitar to keep the noise down.
Wow!
Thank you!
Man, I am taking my first steps in the world of gipsy jazz and it's inspiring to see you make progress. Keep it up!
That's awesome! Keep going and you'll be making progress in no time.
I used to practise gypsy jazz stuff but it is just so irregular I blow my brains out everytime I try lol. Props to you for sticking to it
lol I completely understand. It just takes time. Lots and lots of time.
After your reply to my comment I also decided to give different picks a try, I bought the 1.5 gator, a 3 mm coconut, a Dunlop 1,5 triangle shape ecc…I’m still struggling! :D ….I’ll let you know what I think it is better in my opinion and why. Thank you ! ….this channel is very useful.
Nice! New picks can take a while to get used to. Christiaan van Hemert just did a commentary on my latest progress report (where I talk about switching from the Gator Grip 2.0 to the 1.5) and convinced me to try the Delrin 1.5. Looks like I'll be changing picks again myself.
me irl
Nice! Keep going!
LOVE THE IDEA MAN KEEP GOING
Thank you! Will do!
I've arrived here today all of sudden. so i don't got all your progress, method etc. This channel is perfect, for me, i'm a guitar player for 10 years now, and i would like to start in a gypsy style. Can you share the names of the books you worked in those months of pratice?
BTW your journey is very inspiring to me. Keep it up.
Thanks for checking out the channel! Since January i've been working almost exclusively on Christiaan van Hemert's Van Hemert System books (1, 2, and recently 3). If you go to his channel description, you'll find links to his books.
Thank you! Let me know how it's going once you start.
where can i get this book?
Here you go: vanhemertsystem.fws.store
Have a nice break lad ! I was wondering, is that guitare muting stuff you have efficient ? I have some troubles with my neighbours whom are not the best fans of my arpeggio practice, I'm looking for a solution to reduce noise. Any advice on your experience ?
Thank you! As far as I can tell, it helps. I've been thinking about doing a with/without towel and soundhole cover dB comparison to see how much of a difference there is. I might do that when I get back. If the noise is really a problem for your neighbors, you could look into soundproofing curtains (like theatre curtain) for windows and/or panels for the walls. I've even considered making a little "booth" in the corner of a room: soundproofing panels in the corner behind me and two freestanding "walls" covered in panels in front. But then you run into aesthetic issues.
Hello dude ! Thanks for your honesty it’s very interesting to have the report of this method you practice. I’m in the same situation as you learning jazz and gipsy jazz with the guitare. I passed lot of times with arpeggios and scales and now I’m trying as you to learn solos and licks. I understand you a lot… it’s very hard ! And so difficult to know how to work when we don’t have all the keys ! What’s the good method ? 😮 For the tendinitis maybe during your holidays you can try an anti inflammatory regime and switch sometimes on an electric guitar which is a lot more comfortable just to rest a little. It doesn’t change anything on learning. I made this two things and it works for me ! Keep going it will make it !
Thank you! I appreciate the ideas. It can be frustrating but I think i'm on the right path. It just takes time. Btw I'm absolutely useless on an electric. If I can't hug the guitar body, I can't play lol
Hi there Hang tough, immerse yourself, and dig in. at certain points in the practice, you had a good sound. Question: I have the same guitar: is the action high on yours?
Thank you! I appreciate the encouragement! As far as I can tell the action is okay. I have a shim on one side of the bridge because the strings were buzzing so that raised it a bit. I will say this guitar isn't as "easy" to play as some of the nicer guitars I've tried. (But it's still much, much better than the D500 I had.)
