Leeds - Liverpool Canal Breach Repair Completed May 14th 2022

Finally it appears the Breach has been repaired and completed. This drone footage was taken at around 7am on Saturday 14th May 2022. However, although much of the heavy plant was no longer on site the footpath was still closed. The section of footpath over the breach looks quite narrow and falls away quite steeply. This part of the canal is exposed to high winds and a fence would be helpful. I'...

thank you, great video
I don't think 'attempt' was quite right, as you have obviously succeeded. Impressive. It's a pity all bird tables aren't made this way. 🙂
I must admit you did a good job on this build at first glance, The issues i didn't like, The roof material, I would have chosen a material with more durability such as slate, With a good measure of overhang, Not happy with the size of the wire mesh for allowing access for Black birds!! As starlings are a migrating visitoring birds not a problem!! The tray without drain holes? We tend these days of climate change days of continuous rain, Not so much feeding tray more a paddling pool?? And lastly i always use white vinegar at 5% dilution and allow to dry before any assembly, And i didn't particularly dont like the wooden flat base of the stand which rot's before the table, ☹️ With experience i found the best solution with four reinforced legs mounted on a slab or those circular stepping stones you find at Garden Centre's, Will help drain away moisture, Rather than left standing on soggy ground!! Hope you find these tips help!🤔😉🇬🇧👍
Cor blimey mate ! Its a bird table not penthouse.
@@Kirkee7 Never the less if a job worth doing it's worth doing well!!! As my father once said!!!🤔
Genius 👍
Love this Graham, will be borrowing a few ideas from this! Just a question about the roof, what material did you use?

I'm thinking of designing an easy clean bird table as we've had avian flu in my area and lost a lot of finches. Our store-bought bird table isn't great. You've given me food for thought with your great design, thanks very much!
Very nifty indeed. I really like the removable tray base. I may well copy that in future builds. Thanks for posting.
Brilliant!
I like the song, what's the name of the song
Brilliant! You should make these to order. You have put a lot of thought into this. Best designed bird table I have seen. :)
Further Information of the fence; Thank you for contacting Canal & River Trust regarding the lack of fencing along the repaired path at the Rishton Breach. I have spoken with the Project Manager who has advised that the previous fencing was very poor so they removed it and are putting new stock proof fencing here between the towpath and the field. They are hoping to do so this week and will reopen the towpath once this is done. The online notice here will be updated with further updates.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?
All this, just to find one watch that the president of canals dropped. 😏😆
The Union Canal failed in a similar way in August '20 due to torrential rain. The canal topped the towpath and failed at a culvert. The only time I've seen a canal flow like a river. The adjacent Edinburgh & Glasgow railway line was flooded and out of use for 6 weeks.
So what is this a drainage ditch irrigation ditch sewage ditch what ?
It was an overflow point into Hyndburn brook
Old systems are going to fail in time. It is good to know than the slit and garbag are cleaned out of the channel then repairs and new replacement materials put in . Making it better than was and ready for the next 100 years of service.
brilliant footage
hi how do i get to this side of the canal where the issue is at ?? thanks Andrew

birds will have starved to death in the time needed to make it.
Cool footages 😊
Nice flying 👍🏻
Is there a general agreement on the causet? i.e. was there a single weak spot or a generally weak embankment for a significant distance?
I believe it collapsed at an overflow point where the canal went over Hyndburn brook. The towpath is not maintained and is very exposed at this point.
Another footage taken on the 27th December is here: czcams.com/video/qaojjCPbvZI/video.html
Is there a reason you cannot fly the drone over the actual breech in the canal? You got close, I will give you that. But I'd like to see the actual damaged area.
Will do another video over Christmas and go further on. On this occasion I had limited view of the drone - any further I would have lost sight which can be awkward etc.
I really miss home 😭😭😭
What an exelent soloution with the trey and all and one side open up! Have a magpie problem draining all the food.. so this is by far the best fix I've seen! Very well done!
I love the project!
this is a woodpecker
Thank you sir for Uploading this. I like the idea of the mesh on the sides, I think that should keep the magpies off if I implemented this idea onto my bird table.. I wish I had a solution to your starling problem. I get around 30 each day on my garden, but they along with the blackbirds, act as an early warning system when the magpies are around. Ps bless you wife(?). For her camera work. (I heard her whispering into my ears at the end).
Good job 👍
I'm in the process of making a bird table and I'll now include your ideas for the removal tray and hinged back. Nice video.
Brilliant and well thought out. Well done Graham.
Amazing
Very Very Nice 👍
love every aspect of it
Nice table . Do you have any trouble with grey squirrels chewing through the plastic mesh . Thanks .
Yes and if the opening in diameter is more than one and three fourths squirrels can get in
Anybody make me one for $100?
Hey Marco I used to play your game Marco polo
That’s a brilliant idea and really well made. It’s obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into the build!! Does it keep the squirrels out?
It kept the squirrels out until they chewed through the plastic mesh to make a hole big enough for them to squeeze in
Squirrels can't get through a one and three fourths opening
Nice Work 👍 nice man 👍

5,000 volts works really well. They don't come back for awhile and when they do they avoid the feeder. Search "Hackaday 5,000 Volt Birdfeeder".
