Finding the Perfect Watch Strap
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 21 hodinou
In this video I experiment with using photoshop to help me find the perfect watch strap to match the C63 Sealander from Christopher Ward. In the past I've been horrible at finding my own replacement straps, and it's something I want to get better at. I do appreciate that it would be a lot better to see everything filmed in real life, but I don't have the budget to do that, so this is more of a ...

The Smith's Commando should be considered.
The san martin 0129 doesnt really share anything with the GS. Hands. Case, bracelet, indices eyc, but certainly givrs the gs vibe as soon as you look at it. The rimalti and new cronos look alot more like that Gs, using same style hands and indices and the case is cut the same . I think thry copied the bracelet too I have the 0129 dune with polished link bracelet. I think SM did a better job with the 0130 bracelet, brushed links but centre links are raised with a champered polished edge. This watch feels even more substantial
I'm sure you could have found a C60 Pro 300 Bronze and brown dial for under 1k somewhere!
Easily the best brown 👍
Thanks, very interesting. I think your production quality and spoken word are very impressive. Not sure why you don’t yet have 10 or 20 times as many subscribers. The Citizen Series 8 you showed I’m pretty sure is not available in the US. It’s very nice looking.
80+ watches and I think I only have one brown dial. Seiko “Irish coffee”. It’s beautiful and an underrated dial color.
Thanks 🙏
First😊
The Greyhound model from Swiss military hanowa could be a good choice?
The branding is a little too large for me with them., using the full coloured Swiss flag makes sense but it does also limit the colour options.
@@ImpulsiveWatches Makes perfect sense. I just bought it for about $100 here in India and I felt the same. The hour markers are also tad bit too shiny and large. The rob the attention away from the textured gradient dial. But still at $100, this was my best bet. Any idea about the quality/ longevity?
@@Srinivas-cm8fx I don't have any personal experience with the brand, but that's the nice thing about Swiss Made, generally you're alright for quality and longevity as long as you take care of it.
@@ImpulsiveWatches Thanks man. Went through some of the videos of yours. I can imagine the amount of hardwork and research that goes into finding good watches in this super cluttered industry. Stay well :)
You missed the Houtman Pilbara Wild Violet - Aussie microbrand, great diver
Hadn''t heard of them until this, thanks for the heads up!
Just bought the original 1968 version! I'm so excited 😊
I’m not a watch snob but for some reason I turn my nose up at SM..maybe it’s the Ali Express affiliation or the homage thing. But I do like the look of this watch and like you I have the GS heritage GMT 9F which I love…but I rarely wear for the fear of scratching it! Maybe I should get one and see it in the flesh.
I really don't think you'll be disappointed, as long as your expectations aren't quite GS standards.
All the swiss-made watches are definitely a bubble in price.
purple looks great
No. Don't buy that piece of horological shit.
A good company that quality affordable straps is Strapsco.
No. Not ever.
Yet another great video review, I like the marble dial SM. It’s now added to my wish list. Next watch on my list is an affordable meteorite dial.
Why not...of course for this price we dont have to hope a very long life but who know,we can have good sorprise
Veblenist and Delungs, go for it, they are awesome.
Thank you for the review. I have the same watch with the Aventurine dial. It's really beautiful especially in the sun. A tad heavy as you mentioned and the clasp is big and heavy too. I am considering changing the bracelet and, horror of horros, I quite like hollow/rolled links as they make watches feel lighter. Don't mind the rattling. Perhaps it's just me? SM make really great quality watches, without a doubt. The marble version is very subtle and elegant indeed.
I am a big fan of Hirsch. They produce just about any type of strap imaginable. They can be pricey yet they are worth every cent. I also like Squale's vulcanized rubber straps. Again, they can be pricey. However, you will be pleasantly surprised as to their quality.
😭JDM 😡
Thats a nice video, but stop being a coward. Why do you have to worry about vegans opinions? Its their choice. You should live by your own choices. Be a man. You can have your own opinions and values
And now for something completely different, great video really enjoyed watching it.
I heard nothing but good things about San Martin.
Seiko 5 Sports Field series (SSK023) is pretty damn cool - especially with some of the discounts going around
Good deal for sure, and thoughtful review! I sold my SM GMT and got half of what it cost on sale, so that’s another reason to try to keep it. I’m always a little tempted, but I think I will resist getting another, as I just wear other watches instead.
Good video and fair review 👍🏻 I own this model. I tried to like the bracelet. It did not work out. I found a really nice aftermarket one that I enjoy. The bezel action on my model has plenty of friction and I do not have any issues with unwanted movement of the bezel.
Glycine Airman with that beautiful 24-hour dial and frictionless gmt bezel.
Thank you for this. I had completely written off the Reduced because of my misguided impression that I should only be considering wider watches of at least 40mm. But your review is awesome and very compelling. I shouldn't be restricting myself simply because of a couple of millimeters. I don't think I should be spending $2000-$4000 more just to get a slightly wider watch.
Thanks for the review 👍 I have the purple one with the jubilee bracelet too. For the price, I think it's fine. My two main issues is the endlinks and the clasp. The clasp has sharp corners and it's really hard to open without breaking af fingernail. I replaced it with a San Martin clasp. The male endlinks on a jubilee looks weird and clumsy. I've recently replaced the bracelet with a white FKM rubber strap and I think it looks better now. But I would definitely have preferred the purple model on a jubilee with female endlinks.
In terms of additional costs, you need to factor in tax and import duties if you're importing from abroad e g. Holbens is an American site.
Leather nato definitely feels like the way to go. Not as casual as a nato, not as formal as a leather
Genteel handmade are the best straps that I’ve experienced. They’re very high-end and a bit expensive but worth every penny.
Will have a look, thanks!
Great video, I’m keeping this one saved for future reference
In terms of rubber straps, the Delugs CTS is amazing in my experience. For third party bracelets, Forstner is my go to. For leather, which isn't exactly my usual preference, Bulang and sons and Veblenist are very nice in the 100-200 range. In the budget range, Vario make great leather straps.
Thanks for this, I'll have a looksee
Common issue I have with is the strap length. Most straps are around 6 - 8 inches in diameter. While my wrist is 8.5 inches or 216mm in diameter.
Great point, it's particularly an issue with JDM models as the average wrist size is smaller and they cater to that.
I have exactly the same issue however I have found that Bison straps on Amazon are bigger than most , I refuse to pay more than £50.00 for a strap, hirsch xl size are very nice look on e bay for them.

Great list, would love to see a part 2
Great review thank you
In person, the Pagani dial doesn't look textured so much as it looks like it has sparkles. The textured dial is actually the weakest part IMHO. It otherwise punches above it's weight.
I like Certina, Glycine, Steinhart, Tissot, Alpina, Raymond Weil, Mido, Oris, Edox all Swiss reputable brands with products under $1000.
Public Announcement: Sell the reduced only to buy a pro, the pro is not that big, it wears small. You need to look at watches on the wrist in the mirror from 2 meters away to get a true size on the wrist, lens blow scale out of the water.
Wished you showed more of the watch dial and some of the models. Thank you
I like to see real humans with real hands holding real watches. This looks like AI crap to me. Mabe it's not, but it looks like it. Thumbs down.
No AI, just companies advertising material, I do agree with you but this channel isn't big enough and my pockets aren't deep enough to make that kind of list possible yet
Direnzo for sure! Nivada Grenchen is worth looking at, too!
NV don't feature here because they were in the last video, got myself an F77 on my wrist as we speak, expect a glowing review in due course ❤
The Christopher Ward are the only ones worth getting on this list. I'm surprised you didn't feature microbrands like Tuneso, Direnzo and Ocean To Orbit. All are Swiss Made for under $1000.
Not even heard of Ocean to Orbit before I will have a looksee, thanks for the tip!
Why?
Mido is high in quality
