We must keep our artists close to our hearts folks. This might sound melodramatic, but it's really not the case. Our musicians, writers, poets etc all serve as mediums to educate us. They possess the ability to tap into 'somewhere' and feed it back to us so that we can grow as people. But that often comes at a cost, because of their ability to encompass those emotions. How many can hold their hand up and say that a song helped them through a breakup or a death? Many I would imagine. We hear the end product, but the writer felt the pain of others, put it into art form and fed it back to us so it would make sense. They're like modern day prophets for want of a better word. A good rule of thumb is by starting this on your doorstep. You might not be the solution to somebody's inner turmoil, but lending an ear never hurts. Often it's the very thing that urges somebody to get the help they need. Keep on loving with compassion folks. It costs nothing, and can often be the difference between somebody living or dying.

The best vocalist in VanHalen was Michael Anthony. Also Gary Cherone was awesome.

I knew Van Halen well as we booked them in bars pre-fame and later colleciums. Eddie was never a nice person, all about himself period. Alex was quiet so I can’t comment on him. Michael had class and was by far the most human and nicest person in the band always. What they did to him is despicable. Sammy Hagar was right in line with Eddie’s piggish, classless ways.

Why is everyone on the internet misunderstanding his bass solos? It is not supposed to be fucking jazz. The bass is the only instrument, so yes, it is a solo. The bass is used as a sound effect, which is definitely more musical than to use computer generated rumble. People who say he is a crappy bass player have no idea what they are talking about. He is not a virtuoso, but his bass lines are more melodic and in sync with the guitars than what you see in other bands. Very similar to his biggest influence, Paul McCartney, but adapted to heavier rock. All his bass lines are memorable and you can pick them up well enough from every song to whistle them in your car much later if you wanted to, and that is a good thing. Also, have you tried playing the songs and singing them at the same time, pretty damn difficult. Especially while wearing your mothers heels and make up. He is also accused of being a unlikeable person, but the thing is that he is never really "out of character" when engaging with the public. He and Paul, to some extent even Ace and Peter were always that way. They wanted to have the rockstar image and were more likely to answer questions with a joke than to provide an actual answer. He is actually a teddy bear of a person when he is not keeping up the mean rocker who likes money and women facade.
