Iv'e been Breeding these amazing fish for 10 years now.. Never get bored of them absolutely adore them.. Bought my 1st one in North Wales in 1996.. been fascinated by them ever since..now on my 3rd bloodline..hope you like them..

young zebs around 6 weeks old..feeding well and look to be thriving on baby brine shrimp tetra prima and tetra pro algae..filmed 6.1.2020 The Dad of the babies has never shown interest or indication in breeding or trapping in the last 7 years or so and I thought his main interest in life was chilling and food..how wrong was I !! Even at this young age the babies are feisty little characters..

one of my breeding tanks for the zebra pleco.. the tank measures 5ft and holds 450 litres. zebra species tank..around 14 adults with 2 dominant males and 20 juveniles and baby's.

how big those get? I love my little clown pleco. These would be amazing if they stay small.
Big males get to around 4 inches.. normally no bigger than that

I made an interesting discovery. We had to go on holiday and I decided to take my new Zeb collection with... too valuable to leave at the house sitter 😉 I cleaned out most decorations from the tank, as well as the sand, and dropped the water level to approximately 10cm (2" tank) and kept the internal filter and heater running during the 5 hour journey. At the beach house I filled the tank to about 20cm (previously 40cm deep) with extra tank water I took along in 5L jugs. Now I noticed the Zebs are much more active and eat actively at around 9pm, even with the lights on. There are 5 Guppies as dither fish and are now swimming closer to the bottom of the tank. Not sure what was the actual reason, but for the first time I can sleep comfortably knowing the Zebs are happy 😀

Hi Danie Personally I don't have dither fish..30c bit to hot for most fish.. but do know people who have fish in the zebra tanks..think some have tetra's in with thier L46's

@@tankman168 amazing thanks 🙏🏻 I just managed to get mine breeding the eggs have been with the male for 6days some people say leave them with dad some say take them so was unsure what to do think you’ve just made my mind up for me do you have a Instagram?
@@tankman168 do you remove dad from the tank with fry and place in a breeder trap or just leave as is in the tank
@@imperialplecos4235 youve done the hard bit by getting them to breed..we all have a choice but I leave mine in the breeding tank for a couple of months then take the babies out and put them in one of my grow out tanks

Hi Dean No I don't keep anything in with them.. 30 degrees in the breeding tank is normally a bit too hot for other fish.. and don't compete for food with other species so they can take thier time.. Cheers Warren

I have two breeding tanks of zebs L46 comprising of 12 adult fish in each tank.. size of a 180l works for me after keeping these wonderful fish since 1996 Good luck

Hi Thanks for the comment..I do sell mine when they are around 18 months old to other like minded people who are looking to establish a breeding colony or have enough knowledge to keep them properly.. I have three blood lines up to now and sold maybe 30 or 40 in the past..Its a love thing for these wonderful fish..Im in the north of the UK
