    Brilliant. Fixed our dispenser which had stopped working over 1 year ago. Cost $4.20 for a replacement microswitch from Jaycar in Australia part no. SM1050. Thank you.

    So prior to swapping out the switch .. did the dispenser flap not open either? Cus mine doesn’t even open or make any noise. I’m really hoping this is the fix

    Thank you for making this video. You save me $100. If not more I was able to do it in less than 10 minutes. The only wait time was ordering the replacement switch seven dollars on Amazon two day shipping. Thank you anybody read this five stars

    Great video and thank you. However I offer one caution to you and all. It is NEVER a good idea working on an item with live circuits and you should have unplugged the refrigerator first. Master Electronics Technician here of 50 years experience.

    The dispenser on our Samsung fridge is still working but the paddle broke. I can replace it but it looks like a spring fell out. Can you tell me hw to replace the paddle only? Thanks.

    Thanks man. My Samsung refrigerator is similar, and the dispenser came off very similarly. Funny thing is, this micro switch is almost identical to a power sliding door switch I fixed my wife's Honda Odyssey door with years ago!

    Much appreciated! Problem solved. Horrible design to let the water in like that. A gasket or o-ring would have been nice. And the one repair guy willing to touch a Samsung fridge wanted us to pay for two hours round trip, and said there was no way this would fix it. Good times!

    Excellent & very valuable video! The only one which shows how to remove the front panel on this model design. To anyone watching this, even if your refrigerator is working properly use this video to remove the entire ice dispenser door section. I decided it needed to be cleaned and was concerned we are using ice with no easy way to clean this in the door. OMG! The inside was covered in black mold. I had to take it completely apart to get access to clean everything! Thank you sir for posting this valuable video!

    Top notch explanation in this video and kudos to you. My 10 year old Samsung refrigerator is still working well in pristine condition experienced the water/ice dispensing issues on and off for the past 2 years. When I contacted two of the 5 star rated reputed service agencies nearby in our zip code, they came and checked within few days. Both of them quoted for $375 and $450 for replacing the entire control board, which I was reluctant to move forward. When I browsed for the root cause of this issue in CZcams, I watched this video and realized my issue is exactly the same as in this video. Immediately I did the repair by myself by buying the switch for $6.99 in Amazon. Imagine the repair agencies quote of $375 and $ 450 compare with the actual replacement part cost $ 6.99. Before going to engage any repair agency, I highly recommend some self-exploration for a solution. Thanks a lot for saving my few hundred $s.

    The difficulty of removing the water / icemaker dispenser panel in order to clean the mold from the dispensing path is the most recent aggravation with our Samsung fridge. It has become a battle of wills and the fridge is winning.

    • @cyberduppy
      @cyberduppy Před 2 lety

      I was unable to remove the panel. This fridge is a pretty face with the soul of a demon. Anyway, I used a Waterpik to flush out a significant amount of black detritus, creating only a minor flood in our kitchen. I think immunocompromised individuals should avoid these door mounted water / ice dispensers. They seem to be a breeding ground for microorganisms and are ridiculously difficult to clean.

    How did you remove the rusted screws? You said yours took considerable effort. Mine are totally corroded and immovable. I used a SMALL channel lock and gripped them (my larger channel lock didn't grip as the ends weren't parallel.) Vice grip would work too but I didn't have one.

Have some di-electric grease fir the connectors, they were green. Other tgan that, i have water in my glass and nit free flowing like the day i got home from work😡. So it does not just stop producing water or ice it could give u way more than u want!!!
