WW2 German Donations Can
zhlédnutí 976Před 3 měsíci
The German female Hitler Youth counterpart, the Bund Deutscher Mädel, League of German Girls, was tasked with many activities to improve themselves for Nazi Germany. One of them was to collect donations from the German people to help improve the lives of those in need. This can is one example of many different kinds. Girls would go around their neighborhoods to collect both bills and coins duri...
World War 2 German Fuze Container

Artillery can be dangerous if not properly handled, therefore it is important to transport the fuze that would help detonate the bomb in a separate compartment. Therefore, these little containers were used. This example is a World War 2 German fuze container for photoflash bombs. These bombs were used to illuminate the ground during nighttime flying to take clear photos of possible targets. The...

Helmets are arguably an addiction for me. And thus my collection has grown since my last helmet collection video. Here I show off my collection of 56 helmets ranging from World War 1 to the early 2000s and a variety of countries from North America, Europe, and South America, and Asia. As you may notice, I talk a lot while talking about helmets. So I hope you enjoy!
The U.S. M1878/04 Haversack, A Closer Look

Let's take a quick look at what the United States was using prior to the well known M1910 haversack. The M1878/04 haversack was used from 1878 all the way to the First World War in some capacity. These were of simple yet effective design and are an awesome item of US history. All of these bag are not well over 100 years old but still display nicely and come with plenty of history. I do sell the...

Compared to the ones from that era you’d say sizing is the same ?? & also I see smallest is either 36-38 but measurements are 19-22 in chest are they meant to be like that , similar to that of a parka sizing ??

I've been casually getting into WW2 German to do Blue Division. ATF comes highly recommended, but they seem to be continually out of stock, going back to several years ago (pre COVID) when I was thinking of doing US WW2. I hit 'em up recently (6/24) and, yep, a lot of "Sold Out" on German tunics except for odd sizes like 'small/short'. I had people say Military Harbour, a Chinese outfit, is good. I'm currently waiting on my German HBT tunic & pants from them. They made 'em in a week & a half, but delivery might take a month. By the by I had bought a pair of German wool pants from Man the Line which seemed good, but their jackets are weirdly sized, bouncing from 44 for M, to 48 for L. When I asked them if that was correct ("No size 46??" ie one size up from what I wear) they confirmed: No size 46. So I sent the pants back. Glad I'm not in a rush to build the overall kit, lol. And that's the view from this reporter.

I’v got one of these wonderful rifles which was in an excellent condition. The bolt seemed to be little unstable and loose while it is in the rifle but it shoot really nicely. I haven’t use use m48 before so i just wanted to know if this is normal or not! Thanks

Does your bolt match the receiver? I had a Spanish m1916 Mauser and all the bolts are mismatched to the receivers and they’re known for being a bit sloppy as a result. If the bolt and receiver match I’d seek a professional opinion to be on the safe side. If there’s no signs of excessive headspace it should be fine, but I’m not a professional, just an enthusiast. So take what I say with a grain of salt. Hope this helps.

@@Olewis1995 yes it does match. In fact all the serial and assembly numbers are matching. I asked a friend about this and he said it is normal to have it in m48 mauser. Anyways I’m very grateful for your opinion and advice. Thank you.

interestingly a single act comitted by German soldiers and field commanders in Belgium may have swayed US disposition in favor of war more than any other. The German Fury of Leuven. In particular the burning of the Leuven university library. a neogothical stately library which was sad enough but inside were tens of thousands of literary sources, the burning of the library destroyed the irreplaceable and as such lead to international outrage. US fundraising actually saw to the reconstruction of the library and above the entry a latin inscription stated "destroyed by German fury, restored with American money" it was removed a year after as the university deemed it needlessly insulting to German academics in large part because the German public could not truly be blamed and Germany had to "replace" the collection with material from it's own libraries (though replacing it is offcourse just plane impossible), What did stay up were the many bronze plaques from american institutions and individual donors, they were also restored after the second destruction of the library early in ww2 in the fighting between German and Brittish troops in and around the city. the new library was designed by an American architect named Whitney Warren in what he envisioned as "Flemish renaissance architecture" the end result was a stunning stately library resembling it's predecesor but with some more modern adaptations internally.

belgium did not allow french troops to enter because that was a major painpoint to the flemish indepence parties and would lead to even more anger among flemish speakers as they were wary of the French (and truth be told many in France still believe Belgium should be part of France entirely) the Brittish were not nearly as controversial but I imagine they were not allowed in because it would cause diplomatic issues (the French would considder it a direct insult even though Britain was still the only official guaranteur of Belgian neutrallity anyway) It is unlikely that it would have changed much however, the Germans were as succesfull as they were in France because the allies had captured the German warplans due to the plane carrying them crashing, the Germans were aware of that and changed them, the allies felt secure in the positions they were occupying and actually took troops from other areas to further reinforce the flemish plateau where the Germans planned to push. In the end the speed of the German advance, initiative by individual commanders and most importantly the daring change of plans caught the allies with their trousers down. In the end taking up positions in Belgium would only have helped if that meant focussing on the ardennes which were deemed to dificult for heavy material to pass anyway. the Belgian army should have invested in "offensive" weaponry, had Belgium operated an effective airforce and at least a couple hundred decent tanks the Germans may have been slowed down in the ardennes giving the allies enough time to actually mount a counteroffensive. the linguistic issues also played a role in hampering militairy effectiveness offcourse sadly the Belgian militairy has not learned. We have 0 tanks
