i dont blame you when i saw it was out, i was like is this info real? am i being punk'd then i went an downloaded it an played it through in a single sitting as well. Such a wonder and master piece. its my favorite mod as well skel and i have trouble finding anything to rival it. So love the video and your taste in game brother cant wait for more from both you an the ashes devs!!!!! P.S ashes is how i found your channel and been here ever since ;)

More Ashes for me, that is always good :) I buy Doom just because I found a few years ago demo of first Ashes 2063 and I want to play it. This single game back then turned my interest into Doom mods and total conversions. I am waiting for Episode 3, I enjoyed Hard Reset even if the last map feels rushed in story and design.

Oh, you play on Survival. So you have no idea. In Ashes & Afterglow you could play on Apocalypse, no problem. In Hard Reset - Apocalypse may just be flat out impossible for many. It not only adds more enemies, but doubles their health. There is one spot where you have to deal with 6 vendigos at once, and each requires 6 shotgun blasts at the least. Even if you HAD the ammo to do it, to dodge 6 vendigos is a small area is a futile endeavor. Just go godmode. Or play on survival.

Sorry, no, this is a step back from Afterglow. Lack of polish is everywhere. Difficulty is not balanced properly. Mismatched textures aplenty. Cordon level is just bugged. AI followers are bugged. New enemies are just...unghh...

Its interesting seeing other people‘d reaction to hard reset since the ASHES games are so freakin great. Regardless I do have to add a lot of stuff and drop my own take since I really liked the episode myself. I also have to correct you on something that i‘m suprised you may have forgotten about. For one lets start with the Ending cutscene. I those guys are not the roamers; They are ‚The Empire‘ or at least I THINK they are. For context in Afterglow some people near the end of the game will mention a group called ‚the empire‘; apperantly some third player in the conflict between the Mutant Army anf National Guard and one that is mention with ominous undertones. Roamers would not really make sense since they were a raider gang focused to taking prosperity and were all the way in the bad-lands. The Empire with a name like that is implied to be bigger and more organized. You can see that with the two guys; although raiders not just do they have patches and sort of uniformity but also the red cape their leader wears looks ‚regal‘; almost like a centurion looking more impressive to inspire his men. I could be entirely wrong but I find it suspicious that a faction is mentioned in Afterglow anf in Hard Reset we see some ‚mysterious‘ Raiders killing everyone… Anyway that was my ‚correction‘; might turn out to be a load of hoopla but I feel like thats way to coincidental to be. Anyway onto the rest; I found it interesting that you disliked the Glowing Empties because I did‘t have as many problems with them but liked the Gladiators which I hated. They were too fast for me and considering how tanky they are and that their main attack is basically getting mike-tyson‘d they were more annoying than fun for me to fight. However i‘ll try the protoflamer next time since I mostly tried pipe bombs and the AR. I also really liked the level variety; no location felt the same anf those that did were call backs anyway. My favorite wad Choka Cola‘d facorty mainly cause of the jokes there, with my facorite being the dig at fallout where the company got a mail by the US army telling to stop proposing ‚weaponized choka cola‘. Also speaking of dark liquids; i‘m suprised you didn‘t mention the fact that you can meet a blackwater bandit in Afterglow. He‘s in prosperity and mistakes Scav for Walker at first; he then tells you how Walker basically strode up to the place and just went full-‚stealth is optional‘ on the whole group, giving him PTSD. He also tells you about the black water and hyped up the boss which I found really cool foreshadowing. Anyway, great review! Always good to see more ashes content!

My hunch is that those goons from the end cutscene are from the empire. When you meet the general in Ep.2 he asks if the scav is from the empire but then remarks that they wouldnt send in just 1 guy. But thats just a theory... A GAME THEORY!

I really liked both 1 and 2. they have some flaws (yeah, the escort stuff just sucks) but they're a good time overall. I consider them "immsim-lite" games. you may not have the same degree of options as more complex entries in the genre, but they are extremely accessible and make for a good gateway to those other games, while being a lot of fun in their own right. Infinite though... yeah wow. I like the characters? but the game is just a confused mess. they streamlined the hell out of (if not simply removed) the immsim aspects, going for something closer to an arena shooter. but it's just not a good arena shooter at all. limited weapon slots (and ammo), as well as a very low health pool push you to want to play it like a more tactical game, but the speed and aggressiveness of the enemies, most weapons' lack of accuracy, and the mobility options of the skyrails all scream "get up in their face!" (where you will likely die). completely half-baked mashup of several genres, stuck with the weakest aspects of each of them and few if any of the strengths. admittedly arena shooters were something of an anomaly in 2013, being a solid decade or so out of fashion. they aren't anymore, but that only makes Infinite look worse, not better. The Doom reboot came out only 3 years later, and there simply is nothing Infinite does with its combat that Doom 2016 doesn't do 10 times better.

This game will reignited my love for game design. Even though it's basically a modernized carbon copy of the original game its one of the best designed games I've ever played. It's so sad that game design has been watered down to its current state.

I... kinda... liked the hacking minigame, in 2007. there's way too much of it and it gets pretty old after the first few levels, but I thought it was kinda fun. it hasn't aged great. it is _not_ fun in 2024. 2's much lighter weight system was better. if nothing else, it got out of your way a lot quicker. (though at this point I just don't think we need hacking minigames anymore. just get rid of all of them. they're a waste of time at best)

Honestly the remake was worth the wait and it’s amazing what Nightdive managed to produce. If you either started with 2 and wish to play the first game or just a newcomer to the franchise, I’d say this version of the original is a must with it being more up to standard to the sequal’s mechanics and a lot less janky

UHM ACTUSACSHLYY . MECHANICALLY, the original system shock is just a barebones shooter with some minigames, special abilities and a very basic inventory. it looks complicated, because the control scheme for a FPSRPG simply didn't exist at the time and they made a complete mess of it. With a handful of keybinds in the remaster, and tolerance for some inventory fiddling, the game is perfectly playable.

Actually the combat difficulty also affects enemy numbers and behavior. Some enemies will be more aggressive, and gain upgraded attacks (Security bots firing 8-shot salvos compared to 2-shots is an easy example), on-top of more health and more damage. And you were wrong on several assumptions, but I don't care you were entertaining and do good work, very nice video!

Pussy! Real Man play on Apocalypse and yeah, the mouse look helps driving the bike more careful to the left or right but as the streets are really tight and sometimes you have to do stunts, it's often a headache!

Playing this game for the first time. I can tell you right now that this is easily in my top 4 favorite games of all time.😮

Alright, my friend....here's the question. Which AI did it better? Shodan from System Shock 1 and 2 or Sovereign from Mass Effect? I think Shodan is fantastic, but in my eyes, she doesn't reach the kind of malevolence Sovereign does. Especially if we're talking about your first meeting with Sovereign on Viermere. Sovereign- "You exist because we allow it. You will be destroyed because we command it. This communication is over..." scary sh*t.

I just have to say it… since I’m a console peasant the game just became available to me and I just spent a huge part of the evening watching review after review (I do have a life and it includes lots of media and gaming) and this is one of the least underrated games I’ve ever seen. EVERYONE sings its praises. It’s heralded far and wide as a triumph in every way. Saying things are underrated is hugely overrated. “Underrated” needs to go on the shelf next to “Insane” bro. And next to “bro.”

Bioshock is just a dumbed down system shock 2 it’s just a shooter with magic powers ain’t no immersive sim
