My sister rushed to the hospital in a taxi,took an hour,was told she was having a stroke,her eye drooping and her face has drooped on the left side,she can't eat on one side , she's been given huge capsules to take, she's not been told about any exercises ❤️🪽

4 years ago my dad had a TIA he lives alone but managed to get to the phone to ring me. I knew right away from the way he spoke something was up . I only lived 5 mins away and we shot right around. Right away from the way he talked and the way he held one side of himself i thought stroke , so we rang for an Ambulance and I told then he’d had a stroke as I’d seen my grandmother have one many years ago. The ambulance did take over 30 mins by this time I’d rang my brother he was in Aldi just left his trolley full of shopping and came to dad’s . I went in the ambulance with him and like you said fast with the blue lights on . As we got to A&E they were waiting by the door for him wizzed him right away. By the time my hubby and brother arrived the same dad had been for the scan . And like your brother they gave him the medication and with in an hour or so he was talking better could move his arm and hand it’s unbelievable really how fast it worked. He’s 94 now as good as new still drives his car just around his village and to Tesco not far . I agree with what you said , people complain about the NHS all the time but we could not fault Southport Hospital that day they were on the ball and so nice with him. Hope your brother keeps well for the foreseeable future. X

I had a stroke at 47 and they never found the cause and it's been 11 yrs. It is very scary. I hope he recovers quickly.

Hi Tina So sorry to hear about your brother and I understand the importance of getting the patient into a hospital asap. There are different types of this unfortunately but he was lucky that they had previous notes there There has been many adverts onto about strokes on tv with Vinnie Jones in the advert. But if it’s a new client of a stroke they still have to transport the client to hospital. Times have changed to have 3 sisters on a stroke assessment unit. It only used to be one Am keeping my fingers crossed. See you in the next one

I pray to God for your brother that he comes back to us very soon and is healthy and healthy is the key to everything when you are healthy if we keep up the exercise but we can be a little better.

It just goes to show what they say about acting fast, your brother is living proof. It's amazing what can be done. Wishing him well.

Tina, firstly very good to hear your brother is recovering and so important to share your experience first hand. My husband had a stroke last October, the hospital team were absolutely brilliant with treatment. Best wishes for a continued recovery to your brother.

Sorry to here this Tina, my hubby had a bleed on the brain last September, the ambulance took a hour to come, rand he was laid on a hard floor all that time, they blue lighted him to Victoria hospital, and they were excellent, he was in hospital 2 months, he still can not walk good,and has a lot of pain. I do hope your Brother continues to get well. hugs Jean.xx

Thank you so much Tina for alerting us to the importance of getting quick treatment for suspected stroke. It’s one of my fears about getting old, as fatal strokes are in my family. I have informed all of my family and friends what to do in an emergency but I hope they never have to.
