Brisbane 2032 Olympics Infrastructure Fail
This morning I was invited to speak with Paul 'Campo' Campion on River 94.9 about the recent announcement from the QLD Government not accepting all of the recommendations from the Sport Venue Review report from Graham Quirk to build a new stadium at Victoria Park. I share my views and what needs to be done to deliver a successful Olympics and a lasting legacy for Brisbane.

This is why we have level of information need
In several presentations and online industry calls I have been on in Australia, sadly many leaders of the industry are yet to even read this key standard.
This shortfall should be addressed by the Information Manager who should be employed to help fill this need if the appointing part does not have the knowledge or experience. This role can be fulfilled by a delighted 3 party who is a certified information manager professional, or at the very least a certified information manager practitioner.
I would like to ask you what a certifier information manager is? What qualification do they hold? Across the world I have seen many projects proclaiming to be delivered in accordance with ISO19650, with information managers engaged by the appointing party to perform the role on their behalf, and still the quality of the information requirements is sub-par! It just requires a lot of education on the opportunities to make this a really simple process. Sadly people are making it a lot more complex than it really needs to be.
When I start enscape, it does not open the rendering but tells me that it could not be opened, I use archicad
Does your computer meet the minimum specified requirements that Enscape recommend? If so I would strongly recommend that you reach out to Enscape directly and seek their support with the issues you are facing.
Sir..What type enscape in your archicad 24 ?
I honestly can't remember but I use the latest version that is available at the time.
thanks for this 🙏🙏🙏
No problem 👍
Great one it helps me thanks .
Glad to hear it!
Does anyone know how to make the Symbol text "P" editable string text, and have its own parameter. Or even better reference it from the models classification and properties tab ?
One wonders if behind closed doors, Rugby League and Union power brokers have convinced the Premier and LNP leader to divert more money to Suncorp, rather than see Australian Football benefit from a new stadium, Cricket be damned.
Very interesting theory. Right now the AFL are making huge inroads across the country. One would hope that that isn't the case though.
Thank you for this video

Hey I learned something..
Glad you learned something!!!
@@SkewedBIM glad you replied, if I may ask where can download the crack version of enscape
You don't@@festusmwathi5064 You pay for it.
Getting some terrible crashes in AC27 when performing the box stretch as in 9:27 of this video. Could this happen with overly complex geometry? The hit and miss pattern I'm working on is about 2 times more complex than the one Laszlo modelled.
I think that the complexity might be your issue. I would test out creating the pattern in an empty file. By testing it in a different file you can see if it is the complexity or the file itself.
this helped me alot, thank you.
No worries.
Great video. Just want to ask how do you keep your enscape window in the forefront ehilr you work on the archicad window?
I think there is a setting in Enscape that enables that.
@@SkewedBIM I think live sync can do that
@@donifconinternatiionalltd8357 because I use a 46 inch wide screen I have never needed to have the two windows overlapping the other, so for me I haven;t really tested it.
Great stuff! But archicad still lacks some very needed features like categories ( like in Revit)
It is a work in progress. Being volunteer driven it is taking a while to get it to cover all of the different workflows people want to access.
@@SkewedBIM sure. Maybe Graphisoft needs to review all the planned features be their priority. So that more powerful tools would be developed earlier. I haven’t seen categories in the roadmap btw.
keep it up guys. Graphisoft should invest more in promoting archicad and adding more options like this one to it. More tools for structural and MEP engineers should be developed for archicad
Glad you enjoyed Enzyme’s presentation. There are a lot of different areas that people want developed further in Archicad. Over time Graphisoft will get to a lot of the wishes from the users from across the globe. It does make it harder now that there are additional disciplines added to the tool. They are working on all of the streams currently so hopefully what they release aligns with your needs.
i got an overdoze of creativity after watching this video, good job, i'm impressed of the amount of work they did to make life easier, unfortunately, the GDL power is always kept as a secret, i think GDL experts should share their knowledge with younger users, to unleash the real power of archicad.
It is a complex beast to get your head into. There really does need to be more GDL courses out there and I personally feel it needs to be simplified a bit more for the average user.
I'm using AC27 on an Intel-based Mac - the USA version. I feel like it's right under my nose, but the design options palette is nowhere to be found. I can see clues to its existence -- for example -- views have a design option setting and objects have a design option drop down menu. I cannot find anything on the community forum of anyone else not having access to design options in their AC27. Anyone else having the same problem as me?
You should be able to find the Design Options Palette from the Window Menu>Palettes>Design Options If you are not able to see it in the palettes I would suggest loading the AC27 work environment. If you have loaded a work environment that you have created from a previous release then the new menu items may not appear.
THANKS. downloak link of Aus-Windoorbuilder?
There are a few you can access. Firstly there is CI Door and Window Tool here > centralinnovation.com/archicad/extensions/ci-tools-doors-windows/ Secondly there is Cadswift Infinite openings here > cadswift.com.au/product/infinite-openings/
Very good. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it.
No script gdl...scripts gdl
I think the point Pat was trying to get across is that unlike traditionally scripted elements the majority came from geometry saved as an object. He then demonstrates the method of adding scripting to the object to make it more usable.
Hello I installed Esncape but the pallete isn't in my archicad palletes window how do I get it to show
What release of Archicad and Enscape have you currently got installed?
Love your content Bro! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you are getting something out of it.
Project staging / phasing has been a shortcoming in ARCHICAD for a long time.
In the end it can be handled by layers so I don’t see it as a big failure on the tools front. I think there are other areas that need a strong focus to be honest.
Definitely rebuild my work environment every release, particularly the toolbars.
It sadly takes time each release to do it but I find it is worth it. You then go through everything and check it is still relevant.
re: Find & Select Criteria Sets: i've been using them alot & across many projects. the great thing is that i'm able to export them (.xml file i think) & import them to older projects that don't have them. i just continually add them to my folder full of Criteria Sets for things that i constanty re-use. some of the most used ones for me are a simple Element Type "All 2D) + Layer "[Archicad layer as a placeholder]"... this allows you to select all 2D elements for one drawing type (RCP / Slab / Finishes plans etc) i also use them for Quality Control, in combination with Graphic Overrides: elements which have empty Classifications, Static Dimensions (although GOs are more useful for this) one of the things i like about this is that in Teamwork files, you can keep them as a Private Criteria Set, where only you can access it or push them to Public for everyone to have access to it.
I really have to take the time to sit down and write down a list of presets that will work for my specific template and workflows. In 20 years of using the software I have been very random in my find and select usage hence not putting presets in place. But I think now should be the time.
with inside.revit I can "pull" whole objects of a category only by 1 gh component. in archicad I must select one by one wall/column..etc.. Or there is a way to do that which I dont know ?
I will have to check with Jorge on that one for you.
Thank you so much 🙏🏽❤️❤️
No problem 😊
Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
great thx
You're welcome!
sir, why is it my model in sketchup became color black after clicking Start enscape 3.5.
I am sorry I can't advise you on that because I use Archicad.
Hating the folders, too. They jump into each of my trainings jeopardizing my flow....
I don’t see them being part of my workflows in the near future either.
I agree on the Digital Engineer title, but it's really a stretch saying that Architects coordinate past the design phase. Architects aren't provided with the real world content early enough to avoid re-coordination after 100% design.
It depends on the contract. I the majority of projects I have been involved in I have been the Superintendent on the project, therefore following the project all the way through to completion. So I have extensive experience working with contractors to resolve any issues that are not covered clearly in the documentation.
great tutorial! thanks!
You're welcome!
Gracias por compartir la gnosis
No worries.
This is amazing!!
It is good to learn about the best ways to deliver complex projects. Blair has had to handle some pretty large complex projects in his time.
I notice you're demonstrating this workflow using AC23 but one important thing to notice is that from AC25 (I think it was 25 ) the "issue" concept related to this topic has been replaced with "Transmittal". So instead of "right click/ create new issue", now is "Create New Transmittal Set" The concept of Issue is now solely used for Issues in regard to Changes or things that need to be corrected.
That is true. The video is from February 2020. It has been a few years since it was created.
One that really grabs me is "Digital Twin". Honestly, isn't that just a fancy new label for what "BIM" was always meant to be? I gotta tip my hat to those savvy marketers and big-name companies. They sure know how to cater to us in the AEC industry, keeping it fresh and exciting!
Digital Twin as a term does have a need. I just find sadly that half of the things that are BIM uses / processes have been essentially stolen by marketing departments to make them of interest to asset owners.
I would say that if you had a model where the doors in the model opened and closed in association with the real doors in the building, then that would be a digital twin. Also, you would have to have a system in place such that when you opened the doors in the digital model, the doors in the building itself would open as well. I use "doors" here as a simplification for clarity. There are potential benefits from having a digital building model that monitored and processed live data, but not sure how far on we are with this technologically at this point in time. I doubt that it would ever be the construction model that acted this way, because the real building hasn't been built. You might have to invent a new term for a construction model that processes active data. Maybe somebody already has? Leave that with you. @@SkewedBIM
There are people who are using tracking on construction sites for materials and equipment that can be visualised on a model environment, so tech in some way does exist for this@@petermorgan7900
Sort of agree, but I think there are people that find themselves in a role in AEC firms where their role in no way reflects the base role of their organization. Personally I don't really take on the term 'architect' in my daily work and ambitions, and didn't pursue the registration pathway. Most people I work with and meet that identify their role as architect are generally the least technology inclined people I come across in AEC, if anything - generally depending heavily on other people who chose not to take on this title. I agree DE is a bit of buzz for the most part, but there is certainly a need for people to have a role title which identifies the fact they are not delivering in the typical manner of an architect, engineer, builder etc. Maybe BIM specialist, BIM lead, Computational designer? Capturing the process of the role is important I agree, although BIM in itself being process does so in role titles I think.
I believe that model managers, BIM managers, Information Managers, information coordinators, all are opportunities for role titles. At the end of the Day, I know my thoughts won’t change an industry that has made this decision to self identify. At the end of the day they are not all Engineers so it is a false title / role. I might be the only one in the world that will believe that.
@@SkewedBIM i'm generally in agreeance that DE in is a misleading and overly generic description of BIM. VDC I'm on the fence with but it doesn't usually spawn many role titled at least.
@@AussieBIMGuru it is all about trying to find a point of difference. Framing a product differently so people want to pay for it.
