    Love the videos! You have really helped me get an understanding of how everything is put together. Last night ordered a Beelink s12 N100 computer, zigbee antenae, NVMe tool, and poe switch to get started. I have several Lutron Decora light switches, not sure they are zigbee. Any suggestions for Z-Wave antenae? (I think I will probably need one). Currently, they are connecting through a smart things hub. Thanks!

    can this monitor voltage since it can’t handle the 50 A that I need for my air conditioner condenser? I would like to monitor the voltage of my air conditioning unit I have two issues. The power company can cycle it and the second one is I have GFCI and sometimes that trips the issue with this is when either condition occurs my air conditioner fan runs constantly circulating ambient air. I would like to automate my Nest to shut off the AC fan when power is off on my condenser. I don’t know why HVAC doesn’t monitor that because I would argue that running the fan at high-speed 24 seven uses a lot more power than cycling, the air conditioner in a normal operation. I would also like to be alerted when my GFCI breaker is open so that I know to reset it so that the air conditioner can function normally. I have automation using Google and Alexa to shut off my pool pump when the air conditioner unit is on and turn it back on again when the air conditioner cycles off, but I would also like to make sure that I just save power in general and not just run my fan pointlessly.

    Downloading bin file and choosing between Modern vs. Legacy format is a bit confusing for me as to why, best info I could seem to find is that serial flash uses the "modern" format and OTA update uses the "legacy" format?

    • @digiblurDIY
      @digiblurDIY Před 14 dny

      Pretty much. Modern has all the partition layout stuff and is for serial flashing to start out.

    That was a light review. I was hoping for more. I was wondering what I had missed. I don't have the issues the reviewer did. I have two BC500, and I like them. Their bases are metal. They monitor an area that is always lit. So, even at night they do not go into IR mode. I'll have to try one out in a dark area to see if it has the same issue, but it does not matter for me. Even when I get more to cover the sides and the back, those areas are well lit too. Street lights in front. Street lights and business parking lot lights in the back. Also, my porch light and garage light are like the sun. The feature of the camera that makes it great is the built in people and vehicle detection, and perimeter monitor. I have these cameras set up to monitor my property, the street, and even the neighbors across the street. (Nothing against my neighbors. I was in another neighborhood that had a bunch of crime for a period, and once I started monitoring the street, and lawns across the street, it stopped. Neighbors were happy with me for extending my coverage. So, I do it here as well.) I have perimeter lines set up with people and vehicle detection. It sends notices to my phone. I then have an app on the phone that alerts me once during the day, and continuously at night. During the day, it goes off once, so I can check on package deliveries, or ignore it if I'm busy. At night it goes off constantly to let me know about intruders, usually kids that should be home, walking onto my property. Adjustments are great, and I have almost completely eliminated false positives. Beyond that it has two other selling points. One, it comes with it's own surveillance station camera license. That's worth $55 for an individual license or $41 ea. if bought in an 8 pack. If you count that, and I do, the cost of the camera itself is less. Next, it is NDAA/TAA compliant. I refuse to buy another camera from China. I don't care how cheap or good it is. I will not do it anymore. My camera VLAN is isolated, even with NDAA TAA cameras, but that is to protect the cameras rather than keep them from calling home. Whith Chinese cameras, they could not call home because of the VLAN, but it pisses me off that I have to even think about it. They will all be replaced. China is not our friend. My NAS has multiple Ethernet ports. One is on the Camera VLAN, and the rest are bonded on my data VLAN. So, I still have remote access to the cameras, while they continue to be protected. Updates go through the NAS. No need for them to be exposed. I was looking to migrate to Axis cameras when these came out. I like their performance for intrusion alerts and their low cost. I still plan to look at Axis cameras for license plate recording, and other features. Synology just announced several more cameras. Still not PTZ though.

      I could have continued with a further burial but I showed enough of the issues. Definitely a product I had no issue of sending back after review as it would have ended up in the trash. I like Synology but they have a long way to go figuring out cameras. I block all my cameras no matter the brand but to be honest it isn't 100% necessary on all of them given you could park on the street and see the same thing.

      They are both the same camera. They just have different interfaces. Most people will pick the wifi version that uses the existing doorbell power wiring. If you have ethernet cabling to the doorbell then definitely choose that one.
