Instagram: @KarelSabbe Facebook: Karel Sabbe Ultrarunning The Barkley Marathons - one of the world's toughest ultramarathons, has been held annually in the Frozen Head State Park, Tennessee, since 1987. The race is so brutal that, since the inception of the race, only 15 people have managed to finish. Runners are to run five 20-mile loops, within a 60 hour time limit and with more than 20.000m ...
His #2 man, gold star!! What a friend, a companion, a support staff!
My son's name is Jack too!! Lets go great job man on finishing!!!
What an amazing journey! What an amazing video! Ty for inspiring me, for real.
Hmm probs not the best idea to run behind someone who is 50 hours sleep deprived in a forest in pitch black
I love this time of year. I know I’ll get at least one good Barkley documentary
And Yasmin Paris? Didn#t she started in this race too?
Yes she started loop 4 that year but didn't finish
Good job! I'm interested in your foot care routine. What's the powder you're applying?
This would be an amazing film if the adverts didn't interrupt it every 5-7 mins... Like it's so frustrating and annoying!
on strapping his compass to his arm: "last year i had to take it out 100 times... thats 100 seconds, it can make a difference". Cue Jasmin Paris finishing with 99 seconds to spare
Dayum. Marginal gains
Climbing two Mount Everest in under 60 hours, anyone who finishes this race are gods among men, women and children, congratulations on beating the race.
@17:20 Laz gave him 23 because that sums up to 5.. as in 5 loops this time. Great job Karel!
Incredible accomplishment Karel! You never gave up. Even after the prior years accident. Inspiring!
pocket burger 🍔, love it 27:32
Gripping to watch.
1:01:38 well that didn't take long to break 🤣
Congratulations. Truly an unforgettable thing
Wa een beest, klasse prestatie !!
I am doing the ice queen in south africa this year. I am keen and also a little bit afraid. Documentaries like this keep me motivated.
Just having a friend like Joren must be amazing. All those challenges over the years and having that constant support all through your lifes achievments must be one hell of a feeling. What a guy!
It's so incredibly frustrating that people still take books out of here. They know what's going on and where they're at why would you take a book. It's so ridiculous. Good to see that it doesn't stop you from finishing
Awesome movie
Congratulations 🎉🎉 this was an amazing documentary. 🎉🎉
I wish people would stop listening to celebrity and influencer snake-oil sales people, and start getting motivation and insight from people like this.
1000% this comment!
The running community is so awesome. I have a playlist of videos to make me feel better when I’m feeling sad or unmotivated, and this video is definitely being added
Thank you for taking the time to create and share this video with us! Very inspiring!❤
damn 🎉🎉❤❤👌👌
Epic in every way, Karel. What a fantastic friend you have to support your efforts too! 🙌
Wow!!! You are an amazing athlete and human. Your friend is one that everyone one on Earth would love to have. I am a 4 times Ironman finisher but this is so so so much harder and inspirational. Can't just imagine how hard you have worked and how deep you had to dig. Hats off hats off hats off Pascal from Mauritius
I learned early on not to judge other athletes fuel because once you find what works, you stick to it. But very curious about "peaches with tuna" ??!! 32:35 🤣🤔
inspirational. Proud to be on the same planet as the participants of the Barkely Marathons, gives me hope for humanity.
Captures the event so brilliantly. Well done and thank you for sharing!
I think the lady who called the cops, was also hallucinating!!😅😅
Oh man...that was a rollercoaster. So proud of you Karel! Joren with the elite assist too. Shed a couple of tears at the finish there. No one can take that accomplishment away from you. It's yours forever! King Karel!
Words would fail me. So…..
I wish I was young again, I would have given this a go!
This is truly inspiring, Such a fantastic watch of the battle that you need to do to take part in this run.
La lanterne rouge! Gefelciteerd met de succes!
Oh my god, I've been watching BM documentaries for hours and it just hit me why it connects so well with me: The entire race is an analogy of a high school summer camp event we used to do yearly, in a survival nomadic style tent camp. And every time at a random unknown night a horn sounds and you need to get ready at the middle of the night and complete impossible tasks in complete pitch black while on a 4km loop on trails, following ambiguous instructions. Laz is just the old comrade type teacher, whom we were afraid in the first 2 years, and grown to love for our final years.❤
Bro, how awesome! Where was that?
@@strider5474 in a remote Town in Hungary, Eastern European life 🤣🤣❤️
And now you have finished!! The best 👌🏼
I bow my head in deep respect to Jasmin Paris .
Fr man,phenomenal woman
@@Pnthandah what the frigg are you talking about ???
nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasmin_Paris
@@realpirate I am agreeing with you by saying she is a phenomenal woman ,what is wrong with that?🙂
@@Pnthandah Your post is easily misunderstood then . I read ' former man ' into your ' fr man ' post and thought you were dissing her . Too many trolls around, sadly
32:24 PEACHES WITH TUNA!! What fresh hell?!
And what about Jasmine?
Discussing which hallucinations you've shared is kind of hilarious and wholesome
Just to put this in relation to "normal" endurance people; during the 90s, I did 60 short triathlons, then some long triathlons, and then some long runs, up to 120 km (flat). So, some "trying experiences", but all races with external support en route and in daylight. THIS race is beyond imaginable! 1 loop; ok. Stiff thighs for three days, but ok. 2 loops; maybe on a very good day, 20 years ago. 3 loops (even only > 40 h); very demanding, almost impossible. 4 loops; forget it! 5 loops; WTF? So cool dodumentary!
Laz miscounting the pages!!!!! You gotta be kidding me, man!!!
Holy fuck what a piece of art, well done 👏
Karel, absolute legend. Had to hold my tears in the end. Also Joe, what a guy!
The question is not how often you think about the Roman empire but how often you think of the Barkley Marathon
I am just so bloody impressed by your mate... what a legend! As are you... haha. Well done. So inspirational bro. Bless x
