    The valves are out of spec. My 24 model started that and i took it to the dealership to have the service bulletin done under warranty. All 16 valves were out of spec. No more noise and the bike is smoother than ever. No more noise at all, ever.

    My 2023 GT is quite a bit quieter than this. I broke mine in very gently and when it reached about a thousand miles, I switched oil to Amsoil 5w50 to finish the break in (to about 3k miles) then to Amsoil Metric. Never heard this kind of noise from mine even after 15000 miles to be honest. A couple of things you need to check in my opinion; 1) Twotone is correct in saying it's most likely the cam chain tensioner more specifically the orings in it are defective and leaking so change them (make sure you use oil resistant orings or oem) and the tensioner will retain oil and pressure better especially on warm startups. 2) Make sure it isn't your clutch by comparing the noise with the clutch out vs the clutch in once the bike is warmed up. If it's the clutch rattling (many Yamaha's and Suzuki's do rattle just like Ducati dry clutches when you first start up warm), you need to make sure your clutch retainer bolts haven't come loose and/or change to an after market performance clutch. It could be a combination of both the above as well. I'm very fussy with mine so I would check these things first. I hope this helps..

    It's definitely the cam chain tensioner. I got the GT as soon as it launched in Canada and at around 1500km the loud rattle noise appeared but only on a warm startup. Cold startup and its quiet or normal sound. Turn the bike off and back on, it gets loud. I now have 18,000km and nothings changed and the bike is running fine. Time will tell I guess...

    Has it came back? are you on the forums? A lot of helpful people there. But yeah, unfortunately SOME of these engines (not all) make really loud hot start tapping, ticking, whatever you wanna call it. The people that dont seem to be running amsoil. They have a superior high temp protection supposedly compared to most other brands including ecstar. I used valvoline on the first 600 mile service, got rid of that within 50 miles. it was all the parts store had. I have been using ecstar since and I am getting rid of that too. I am going to try amsoil. Maybe 10w50 instead of 40. Something that is a little thicker when it is hot. Dealer said it was fixed and it was for 1 day. I started it yesterday and when it reached 220 degrees I shut it off. Restarted it after a few minutes and bam. It came back. I am pissed. I know this isn't your problem but it wouldn't hurt to try a different oil/ viscosity. Valve clearances were all over. some at the very low end and some in the middle. That is the problem and there is a bulletin that i've seen about it and how to fix it. I told them and they didn't touch the valves. So now I am out of warranty and will have to fork out a lot of money for a valve adjustment. All they did was change the tensioner and check valve clearance and changed the oil.

    • @redhytech
      @redhytech Před 19 dny

      I took the bike out on a LONG ride. about 6 hours on a very hot day. the noise comes and goes. sometimes its a slight ticking sound, sometimes it's a hard KNOCKING sound, and sometimes nothing at all. I did change the oil back to 10w40 as recommended.( it was time for the regular oil change anyway). these bikes run around 220 deg F. but on open roads, getting clean air, running around 65 to 70 MPH it will run around 174 deg.

  • @rm25088

    I filed my complaint. Told the dealer exactly what this said. Hot start rattle, goes away faster when revved. Lasts about 20 seconds. Mine is 2023 GSX S1000 naked. I got it back yesterday and so far so good. Smooth as silk now with quieter than it was new. Said they replace cam chain tensioner, jet, oil/filter, valves checked ( I don't know if adjusted). valves were INTAKE: #4- .10, #3- .15, #2- .15, #1- .10.. EX #4, - .22, #3, -.25, #2- .20, #1- .20. Bike has 1200 miles. I suspect 3 valves were the ones making noise. As time goes on they will get tighter which could be a good thing.

    If that little bit of chatter when the engine is hot is what everyone has been crying about, that's literally nothing. I guess I have that too and I don't even pay attention to it. You see, I had a 2015 MT09/FZ09. THAT bike had some horrible cam chain noise that no dealer could solve. Easily 5 times louder than this little bit of K5 chatter. It was a well known issue on the MT09 that I finally solved with a manual tensioner. I guess that's why this tiny bit of chatter doesn't even bother me in the least. Sounds like normal noise for a hot engine.

    • @bddbgdfv5538
      @bddbgdfv5538 Před 2 měsíci

      From my knowledge/ experience cars have a easier time reaching a higher top speed and bikes have a easier time having fast acceleration. I have a mazda 3 (167 hp, ~7 sec 0-60) that tops out electronically at 118 mph (could go a bit faster than that, maybe 125-130) and a sv650 (74hp, ~3.5 sec 0-60) that tops out at 130. (I got theses numbers while testing on a closed track, of course) Very similar top speed but the time to get there is very different. I can guarantee you that a 50bhp bike will not reach 120 mph. My guess here is that the acceleration just seems slower on video. You should try to record the speedometer on your fiesta 0-120 and I’m pretty sure you will find the acceleration in that video very fast afterward. Edit: And don’t forget the redline on his last gear is lower, so he could go faster than that if he removes it

    • @redhytech
      @redhytech Před 2 měsíci

      First,,, it is NOT a K5 engine,, it uses the same basic engine block,,but that's it... everything else is NOT the K5. second,, having NEVER owned or used a K5,, I'm not sure what the engine should sound like and NO ONE could tell me a straight up answer.... not even the service department at the dealer. they said it needed to be 'CHECKED'. third,, what I expected was a bike that sounded like it did when I bought it.. it didn't start getting loud until about 1000 miles on it. I've been riding V-Twins most of my life,, in the last few years I have switched to the inline fours. I've been on the internet since before the internet was invented( yup, I'm that old), and over the years the one thing I've learned is NEVER trust the other idiots on the 'NET'. some are good honest people who will help,, others are ASSHOLES. back before the internet we used to have our computer dial up another computer and exchange data. then AOL came along with their free dial-up internet... yeah those were the days... lol. don't get me wrong I love the bike,,,damn thing cruises at 100mph,,,, SHHHHH. so far it's been a great bike. @@redhytech that was the most ignorant and pretentious bs reply to what is already known. Yes... the GSXS platform is based and shares components with the K5 engine. Slightly different cam profile and ECU configurations that are more modern, but still a K5 in many regards, if you are an experienced rider. Clearly, you are not, by ANY means. @CaptLawrence was trying to educate you on the fact that it is, in fact, a long stroke inline 4 which you know absolutely nothing about because you are probably a Harley rider that got tired of getting smoked by Japanese bikes. But its too much hassle and they want you to live with the noise. A decat and map will drown out the mechanical noises with a lovely burble

      If Biden gets reelected, it'll be cheaper to finance than buying with worse inflation.

    Its the hydraulic cam chain tensioner. It is simply not getting enough oil pressure to keep proper tension on the cam chain guide. That or its simply wearing out very prematurely. Im a japanese motorcycle mechanic for 38 years and have seen it all with cam chain tensioners. My 2002 ZRX 1200 kawasaki started the cam chain rattle at about every 10,000 miles and after the second cam chain tensioner, I converted to a manually adjustable tensioner. Hopefully someone will come out with a manual tensioner for the GSX-S 1000 GT. I really want to buy a GSX-S 1000 GT but until someone comes up with a solution, im holding off on that purchase. Im sure some savvy owner of one is already working on a solution as we speak. Sorry to write a novel on this but motorcycle engines quickly create very dirty oil by virtue of sharing the engine oil with a transmission and clutch. Hydraulic tensioners can very quickly have their oil passages blocked or compromised by contaminates. Suzuki needs to issue a recall on this engine and resolve the issue. Hope this helps.

    My Gsx s1000 2023 got this sound too. Not sure is it typical k5 engine sound like that or may be the tensioner is the main problem in all new model suzuki naked and touring bike?

    Mate you're trying to fix something that ain't broke and 20/50 oil is too thick for these motors. Your bike sounds just like any other Suzuki motor and I've been riding these for over 30 years and they are THE unbreakable engine, trust me stop stressing and just enjoy😂
