Nariz 1 Open Water Until Addressing Buddy's Dangling Reg
Cenote Nariz 4/26/24 near Tulum Mexico
As usual these videos are unedited and named for the location followed by a number indicating the order in which they were filmed. I apologize for the fact that lighting and mounting was less than stellar. This was my 7th trip to Mexico but this was the first dive on DPV I had filmed. We hit Na Hoch Na Chich the day before but I filmed nothing. I improvised GoPro mounts on the rental DPV and did the best I could without the dedicated DPV video lights I have for diving at home. The mounts were a bit loose and made extra noise and using my primary light as a video light well behind the camera cast a substantial shadow at times. One of the 3 GoPro cameras/camera housings I was carrying also flooded resulting in my missing quite a bit of video for this dive.
From the small pool we entered the cave and took the immediate right at the first T in the back of the cavern. At the second T we made a right then a very immediate jump to the left from that line. We proceeded to a third T then took a Right until we turned. The video was stopped. We went back to the third T. Video was resumed and then we swam to the end of that line and back to the third T. At this point I noticed my third camera was flooded. We did some other side passages but eventually came back to the first T that we turned right at and proceeded as if we had made a left turn. I ended up shooting video of our way back to the first T and the cavern from our turn point.

Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful man! Thanks for sharing
Love to see the beauty of Nature.....bro 🤞❤️
Thanks. Cheers!
title is crazy,; i dont understand nothing, wtf
I post a series of videos for each dive. The description gives an overview of each dive. For this video we were still proceeding inward from the surface and we passed the third T in the guideline. If you are not a cave diver or do not have a map of the cave the individual video titles can be hard to interpret
yeah pretty true
Video turned out really good G
For an improvised camera mount and no dedicated video lights on the DPV I am pretty pleased.
This is probably an excellent video very realistic. The clattering, galooping of water sloshing and overall underwater cavey- ness of this triggers my claustrophobic worse case scenario syndrome 👀🫣😬🥺bye can't finish
Sorry, I hope you recovered quickly. They sound is not the attraction for sure, LOL.
@@cavediver74 Not to worry I'm working on it now. This is too good to miss! I don't like giving in or up so I'll see you soon 👍🏾
I like the perspective with you leading the dive. I know you like the diver as a point of interest but it shows the cave nicely.
@@cavediver2579 It is true, I prefer a diver in front as a subject. It helps when the vis is good too. Being the has it’s advantages also.
What did you lose your alphabet block down there?
wut
@@Bubbles2k Exactly my question. What is it that you seek in the depths?

Did you find what your looking for
Fun dive, yes. Completely unplugging from other day to day worries, yes. End of Line, no. Had a leak and exited the cave instead of proceeding. Cheers!
wow, thats quite a low viisibility
This cave is highly variable and can be worse than this or much better, but yes, this was less than I would have wanted. But I have recently seen much worse, albeit on the exit after going through a very low and silty area that had much better initial visibility this was what I saw on exit: czcams.com/video/AbEuhKfzK40/video.htmlsi=Ixch8t3QBSzaRDPO
this is pretty cool
Hey man, you still in town? We are headed to CA tonight for fireworks, would love to meet you.
Have a great time for me! I am not in town. I am at home taking care of my son, the dogs, and my wife who has COVID of all things. Sorta crappy summer cold. She will be better in a couple days but this has certainly changed my Holiday plans! Say hey to Edd for me and safe diving! My next diving down there may be very late July or even early August it seems.
@@cavediver74 sounds good, I’m Chris BTW. We will probably be back late August I am thinking…
@@saturated_and_caffeinated7865I am Greg. Perhaps we will meet up later this summer. Safe diving and cheers!
Love these videos. Incredible footage. Stunning.
Many thanks!
muito legal.
Thank you!
Awesome
Are you cave certified?
Yes. Cave. Cave CCR. Cave DPV. Trimix.
Minotauro, is my wife's favorite cave 👍
As the girl at Under the Jungle said, “it’s squeezy”
Amazing watching it go from crystal clear to hazy fog. did the silt not worry you? The last minute of this clip stressed me out lol
Honestly, no I was not worried. The vis was far from zero. Frankly we are trained to deal with zero visibility during our certification class and I have seen much worse vis than this over the past 26 years. Even true zero vis is quite workable if the passage is large enough to get through but not so large you are bouncing up and down. Frankly, only very small passage really go to zero. True zero vis and a broken line can be booger, but we have training and equipment for that also. After training it is good to progress your dives slowly and make sure you are not exceeding your comfort limit. We all have a limit though.
Ok, sooo, I'm new here & am very interested in VIDEOS of this nature. I don't think I'd have the courage to actually do so,however I digress, I felt a bit lost while watching. I saw the title but, a little more information during the videos, even if it's like CC's, for newbies, such as myself would be more informative and may even increase viewership. Anywho, I have subscribed and I'm now about to watch previous videos. This short video may not have been a great choice to uhhhh "bust my cherry" per sé 😉 but it was in my feed so I gave it a try 🤷🏾♀️ Thanks for showing cave diving that doesn't end in tragedy. I don't think I can take many more of those 🤦🏾♀️
LOL, none of my videos end in tragedy. But then I am not a monetized channel looking to lure people with click bait. Just a long time cave diver who started putting videos on CZcams for my self and buddies. Sadly, if you are not a cave diver these unedited videos might not be the best. Each dive I do is actually a series of videos. The videos for a dive are named after the dive site, then are given a sequential number followed by a brief description in the title. I do try to place something of a description of what the overall dive was in the “description”. Without a knowledge of cave diving and a specific cave or access to a map of that cave (most maps are not publicly available I can see where following along can be difficult. There are people who edit and narrate videos etc. Mine are strictly unedited which has an advantage if you want to really see what is happening but can be a disadvantage also. If you search google for “cave atlas twin cave” and proceed to the resources tab of the Cave Atlas page there is a PDF map of this cave that is half way decent. That might help with references to tell where we are but references like “back to back arrows” that I make in titles would really only have meaning to a cave diver that knows this cave. Cheers!
those are quite small bailout tanks. I guess you had staged bailout maybe ?
Ansolutely. 2 AL 80 each plus the LP50s with 135 cf plus in the pair. Less 20cf for dil gave plenty of gas for the 150% of bailout gas needed to exit standard.
@@cavediver74 ah cool makes sense. It looked freaky with those tiny sidemounted tanks and a rebreather fuck way back in a looong restriciton. Beautiful video!
I'm trying to embrace how neat cave diving is over how scary it is.
It is very cool! With the proper equipment, proper training, proper procedures and conservative gas management etc it is till very cool. Without these, it can be excessively dangerous!
That laugh at 1:24 : ) Great footage as usual, thank you for doing what you do!. Twin has a lot to offer...
I have to admit the laugh was where I realized for sure she was backing out and our dive plan had changed. I love diving. I love making plans/goals but adhere to the concept that if things are not going according to plan anyone can call the dive at anytime for any reason. I am a pretty happy/upbeat person. I was not laughing at my buddy for not passing the restriction but recognizing it was not going to got happen and I needed top back out also. I was at the time and remain very happy about that dive. Thank you for reminding me! Cheers!
@@cavediver74 oh, it was completely in your tone, not a condescending laugh but a “heh, I know that feeling… been there” kinda laugh. I thought the dive, plan and execution was great. Sticking to rules. Love it 🖤🔱
I’d be so scared under water in a cave
So I’m assuming y’all scooted to the Skiles exit, dropped main scoot then went back to the Skiles jump and dropped scoots there and attempted Skiles but didn’t pass the restriction?
1 pair of scooters and stage at the far end and were going to do the traverse but she got hung up on something passing the restriction.
@@cavediver74 I guess I need to breakdown and do that dive. I’m just not a big fan of twin…we did Hole and Consolation Friday.
4K silt, wonderful :)
This way you can appreciate each particle! LOL
Thanks for the video. Love that cave. Going up there this weekend
Have fun!
What camera and lights do you use?
I have a GoPro 10, 11, and 12 with dive housing. On this dive the GoPro was attached near the nose of the DPV. I was using a pair of 3500 lumen Seacraft lights running off the DPV’s battery with diffusers over them. If I am swimming and shooting video I generally use my Underwater Light Dude light with a diffuser over it or a BigBlue video light that I have. The UWLD puts out up to 3500 lumens for 5 hours on a large pack. The BigBlue is brighter but not microprocessor controlled and after 40 min or so is at half brightness and pretty much useless at about 60 minutes unlike the UWLD and Seacraft DPV lights that put out constant lumens until battery reaches a critical point.
@@cavediver74 Nice! I use the GoPro for filming my cave dives too. Always wondered how your footage turns out so good. I have some cheap video lights. May look into getting a defuser for my EX35.
@@BlakePierantoniJust FYI. For the first several years I was shooting video I used pieces of shower curtain I had cut out in round pieces held over the end of various lights with pieces of inner tube I had cut. I have not owned a DiveRite light in several years but found out the large diffuser they sell fit perfectly over my Underwater Light Dude Primary. I rigged it with bungee and can flip it up or down to use it as a video light or as a primary. When I got my Seacraft DPV with built in power controller a year ago and got the Seacraft DPV lights that they sell and connect to the power controlled a bought a pair of DiveRite’s smaller diffuses. They are actually a bit larger than the Seacraft lights but they work fairly well also held on by bungee. I can flip them up to get 12 degree light (what they are without diffuser - don’t ask me why they chose 12 degrees) or flip the diffusers down and get some very nice video light. The diffusers (even shower curtain) really seems to help to soften the light but also tends to give you a much wider angle of dispersion for the light. I you have the $ you can get dedicated video lights. My BigBlue video light was about $750 and frankly although I like it, I would not buy it again because of the fact that the light starts of bright but just gets dimmer and dimmer over time. Cheers and good luck!
I really want to try this one day!
I encourage you to. I will say, it is quite a bit of certifications etc. However, once you get scuba certified (open circuit or CCR) then a cavern class (the part of cave where ambient light even a very small amount is still visible) can give you a feel for whether you want to go further with certification. The cavern class is actually pretty useful in terms of general scuba skills as well as wreck diving skills as well so not a waste if it isn’t for you.
nice view, but its really tight bro
Viz looks not so good…when was this?
5/4/24.
thank you for the incredible videos & leaving them unedited. i love watching/listening to these. please stay safe
Thank you and I certainly will stay safe.
That's cool bro
Thanks.
This is so cool, thank you for sharing! Do you get trained on how to not feel claustrophobic or was that something you just had?
I cant say I was trained to not have claustrophobia. Everyone has their limit. The training in general helps with confidence but some passages are too small for me.
Man, Nai Tucha is a one of a kind experience... literally "Jungle Diving". Such a great dive. Great video!
It really is!
I mean... Sure you guys have Guts But what Do YOU Win? Is your Life worth risking over some Fossils? Perhaps they were Already Removed!! Please Stay Safe!
Nope, no guts actually. It is exceptionally relaxing. A great way to completely decompress from life’s day to day grind. With proper training, equipment, redundancies, and bailout gas etc this sport can be done quite safely. You are still scuba diving so if you have a heart attack underwater…but then we are moving at the equivalent of a brisk walk or slower at any given time. Getting the gear to the water is harder work than the dive, 😊. Cheers!
spooky
It was still pretty cave past the bones…
I’m tired already watching…seems like scooters would be appropriate…
so cool!
Always enjoy your videos, and this is no exception. Awesome dive!
Thank you! I appreciate you letting me know. I certainly thought it was a great dive, but then I have a passion for cave diving. Yesterday someone commented on a video from a prior series essentially telling me to “stop doing this dangerous sport immediately.” Cheers!
@@cavediver74you should stop…dibs on your breather…and scoot…
Extreme dangerous. Stop this sport at once.
Impressive upload! Did not dare to do it myself. Take care!
We will, thank you!
This is terrifying 😭
Crazy 😅
I'm freaking out just watching this.
hey! im making an indie short film about the ocean! would you mind if i sampled some clips from this video? thanks :D
