The Forest of Dean is in England, located on the Welsh side of the river Severn in Gloucestershire. The Forest is the birthplace of composer Herbert Howells and, later, was home of Derek Bourgeois. Howells had taught Bourgeois composition and very much inspired Derek's work and career, eg. both taught music at the St. Paul's Girls School in west London. In this work the opening theme is taken from Howell's keyboard work "Lambert's Clavichord" and is called "De La Mare's Pavane" (czcams.com/video/sY2UKV1BX0A/video.html). Bourgeois then goes on to put this theme through several variations.

Es war ein sehr schönes Konzert. Vielen Dank. Der Konzertraum ist auch sehr schön, für mich war die Empore mit der Glastrennwand super, denn für Christians Neffen Lui war es sein erstes richtiges Konzert. Mit seinen 16 Monaten hat er das wirklich super gemacht. Ich bin auf Lui und seine Eltern richtig stolz:-) Ganz selten hat man von Lui und dem Baby einen Muckser gehört. Wir konnten das Konzert geniesen.

Beautiful but this sounds too solemn rather than stately.

Not a fan of the "phrasing". This piece should be played like a pipe organ with stagger breathing throughout with only a break in the middle. The stopping is just wrong.

A very noble effort; difficult to keep in time and (especially perfect octaves) in tune; nevertheless, as a brass band player myself ( BBb tuba), I respect their performance - it carries the solemnity, tragedy, and tenderness that I believe Wagner intended.
