I’m thinking of swapping my brz too bro but 2 issues one I live in an apartment and the other they bussin heads with these prices 😭
If this was the kpower kit I was getting that throttle error because on their website they have a basemap that is included on their purchasing page which idk what that is but its wrong. If you go to their resources page it has a completely different base map listed specifically for haltech 1500 k24. Mine wouldn't even turn over on the first map. And instantly started up on the latter after injector size adjustment.
Do you plan on taking it to the track? I love seeing the swapped brz's and 86's but I don't usually see people drive them much after the build series. Idk if you have any tracks near you but maybe a track series? That would be cool.
It will see track time eventually, but not yet. This car is my baby, and it took 2.5 years to complete. I’d hate to take it to a track, blow it up, and immediately put it right back on jack stands. I’m building a G35 as a dedicated drift car, so if you want to check that out make sure to stick around!
Great video! Just wanted to chime in for anyone that's thinking of doing this swap but doesn't have 25k to spend. I did a basic NA K24a2 swap, stock trans and clutch, with no AC for $7, 612. This includes the purchase of the complete kpower swap kit, a US k24a2, oem honda timing chain parts and oil pump. I sold my original 2017 FA20 for 4000. If I add in the sale of my OFT, tomei header/OP/front pipe, perrin intake and verus AOS the price comes down into the high 5k range. I've been daily driving my car for over 2.5 years now with the swap and its so worth it. The swap is also super easy and can be done in a weekend by yourself.

Ayy bro i have a q50 2014 3.7l i wanna make some pops but idk how i have muffler and resonator delete already but there’s no pops
You’re most likely going to need a tune. The reason you get pops on decel is because you’re adding more fuel in the engine than can be combusted, so it ends up igniting in the exhaust. Same with flames tunes. They just dump fuel into the engine and it combusts either while the exhaust valves are open or inside the exhaust itself.
So what we swapping into this thing lol can't wait to see what you do with this thing lol literally buying all the cars I've been looking for and the channel is my go to for information. Nice find
Just dropping a replacement of the original VQ35DE for now. Don’t know if I’m gonna go LS or anything in the future because I really wanted a C5 Corvette. Might end up getting into one of those down the road.

Hey sean, do you know if it will pass emissions? Im looking to swap to the k24 in my 86 as well.
Most likely it will not pass. Even if you have cats and everything to actually pass the emissions test, the Haltech is not setup to output emissions test data. At least that’s what I’ve read online about it. Definitely do some research though, I could be wrong. I’m currently working on a fix for this as well 😅
Hey Sean! I'm enjoying your K24 brz playlist, as I want to make a similar project by myself. One note about welding the pipes aluminum or steel which helped me a lot, you always want to have beveled edges while welding two parts together. It helps a lot with material penetration and the quality of the bead. Anyway I admire you work on this car, keep it up! :D

The only reason I'm considering this swap is because my 8th Gen si is beat up and rusting so I wouldn't need to buy the engine.

Great video! I used this video for putting on my skunk2 hardware. A few weeks later i used this video in reverse to put the OEM hardware back after I was getting oil leaking out 😂

I believe that the torquing specs for the dome nut is 8.7 foot-pound as the manufacture recommends. I am about to replace one of the bolt stud with an OEM bolt. Shall I torque the stuck bolt with a male end thread to 16 foot-pound just like a female end thread? Please someone reply because I couldn’t find any info about that!
Been looking at this swap but after reading some post swap reviews, a lot of people complain about drive shaft vibration. Not sure if due to elimination of balance shafts or drive shaft issues, but do you see any issues on a street driven car?
The K-series engine in general has a lot of vibration. Most of the complaints I’ve seen are from folks who modified their stock driveshafts. Since I used a different transmission I got a custom, one-piece, aluminum driveshaft. Also, switching from the stock oil pump with the balance shafts to the Type-S increases NVH. Kpower is working on an update that uses the stock oil pump, so keep an eye out for that.
Did you have any problems with the collins adapter ? Ive had issues with mine.

I’ve actually seen a Gen2 get k-swapped already using the same KPower kit for the Gen1. Wiring is probably different, but it’s definitely doable.

Just stumbled upon the series, any reason you decided to not use the FRS/BRZ transmission? Just curious. Really nice breakdown, thanks for the transparency.
I explain it in my most recent post, but the short version is that I’m making more power than the stock transmission can handle. I plan to race and drift the car, so I didn’t need the stock trans failing on me.
Solid cost analysis! Looking forward to see what this thing can do on the track/street.
I don’t really have anything against the stock FA series motor, but K series is the most pragmatic for an enthusiast on a budget! (and I think it’s an all around superior motor)

I have been restoring a 1st gen (99) Expedition and completed swapping a supercharged 5.4 from a 2002 Lightning. I am 30k and 4 years in and still tons more to do. This is not for everybody and is the most difficult undertaking I've experienced so far. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it a second time? Absolutely not. Lol. It has a pulley and all the bolt on mods and makes a healthy 440hp/520ftlbs to the tire, will build for more power eventually.
Hey man I've been watching your k-swap series, I have a 2015 FA20 with a blown motor and I'm trying to see the cheapest options to get a car again, I'm fucking walking around. New fa20 looking around 5-6k, been looking into swaps and it seems like they're triple the price..... So depressing, this car brought me so much joy now so much pain!
I’m sorry to hear that man that sucks. Yeah pretty much any engine swap will cost you $10k or more (depending on who you know and how cheap you want it done). What’s the condition of your engine? You said it’s blown, but is it just knocking, is there a hole in the block? If it’s not too bad you might be able to have your engine machined and put back together, but that would probably be similar price to just getting a replacement FA20.
My frs has same problem. What did you do to resolve the problem. It seems to be a reoccurring problem with the fa20 motor.
@@lawrencelimcoThat’s why I sold my frs. I was always paranoid the engine might go at any sec, which they usually do even with the best maintenance. It’s like a ticking time bomb.
