People need to stop with the “shot at a 100lb cobia” nonsense lol. No one has caught a 100+ pounder in over 15 years in NC or VA, certainly not from a kayak. 70lbs maybe 80lbs on a good year is a “chance”. Realistically you are looking at 60-65lbs as your biggest fish opportunity. That’s a really nice fish; no need to exaggerate. Awesome vid tho. Nice job. Crazy send in that surf.

I caught a 7 ft black tip off a piece of cut shrimp years ago on NSB. Was the craziest fight I’d ever had at the time, must’ve been 60-70lbs and around 6 ft

10 years ago I left the northeast for Texas to be closer to my wifes family. I was sad to leave all those amazing trout rivers, but discovered the hill country and red fish...changed my life! Some of the best fishing around, and so much danm fun to chase reds. Not to mention the cool friends I keep on making.

As you discovered, you needed better bait than a half, previously frozen mullet. Think fresh bonita or jacks. Tyler and Dustin know their stuff. Basically, just listen to all their advice.

My next trip! Spent a few years fishing with Victor's in Punta Allen. Now I'm ready for a new adventure for sure!
