This happens because of how the engine calculates inertial force, and how gravity effects grids. The engine calculates these across a whole grid as it is were one single item with no regard for centre of mass, rather apolying all force to the thrusters as if it was the centre of mass; in the case of multiple thrusters each is its own centre of mass. You can see this really easily by splitting the grids like you did here, or by applying blocks which are calculated for differently like the 'artificial mass block'. A more complicated way, and in a way o believe should have been a feature in the first place, is to alter the game files to make all blocks effected by gravity in the same manner as the AFB. It takes quite a lot of work to edit the filed this way though, and it rather tedious.

You could make this game simulate the center of mass. Just separate the thruster from the main grid using a rotor, or anything else

Instead of stacking pistons on each other to make it longer you can instead place some pistons next to the mining pistons you got facing upwards then extend them then next to them place pistons down ward that way you can have longer pistons that are more compact ( you can retract the already extended pistons to have more reach)

My main problem with space engineers game is that when on a planet or moon like surface, converting over to a ship becomes a real bitch after construction of your design is fully built.. it becomes this tedious check list of self doubts and double checks and rechecks and parts failures and more rebuilds just to get something very simple to work,, and then when it’s all done correctly ,, 85% of the time it’s still going to give you the wonderful opportunity to get pissed 😡 when notified that you cannot convert to ship even though nothing is actually touching the voxels and has been totally cut fee of all mooring mount blocks .. and after scratching your head for 2 days straight, trying to figure that out,, you are eventually forced to grind everything back up again into scrap and start over again… how lovely 🥰

Used to do this literally all the time with a cut android charger. All you had to do was find the black and the white wire and shave the rubber off of it with a knife and twist the exposed copper into little prongs. Incredibly unsafe and I’m very fortunate and thankful I never had them explode on me, because I had no idea how much I was charging them and no idea how much charge they could even hold. I also definitely used some bad batteries like he showed in the video. This was years ago so this tutorial with all the precautions is just making me realize how dangerous that really was lmaooo. (Also you def wanna fill the pod with more juice than he did)

I want to know how you avoided it in the first build. If I don’t manage to spread the thrust properly, I get a death spiral. Most spectacularly, when I tried a build with hydrogen thrusters with all of the up thrust at the back of a (very oddly shaped, imagine a book on edge like it is on a shelf) ship. It started uncontrollably spinning until it spiraled into the large hydrogen tanks set up for refueling. After rebuilding the base and ship, I did a redesign with some thrust under the ship, but because it was asymmetrical (I accidentally used small (large grid) thrusters on one side) it flipped itself violently onto its side.

Don't think I have laughed so hard in a stream for a long time, keep up the good work lads

In the "might as well" category though: Since you docked the Love Bug to a connector on an advanced rotor right under a cargo container, you are just a conveyor corner and a converter away from piping that parking spot. You never know when something goes there that needs fuel
